  • Linkin Park - The Catalyst? (I'd be more interested if you did the "outro" part of that song.)

  • Damn, can't stop hearing this ...

Could you make a cover of Bullet from my Valentine - Your Betrayal, or Tears Don't Fall?

Would be sick with your drumming skills

  • audio and video are a little desyncronized :S

    but i love it

  • @Raspadinha94 thanks! and no its not. sometimes for some reason when it plays on youtube it comes across out. you just have to restart the video and it should be fixed. im certain its synced because of how far i zoomed in when i was editing the audio tracks.

  • You should be proud of yourself, 104 likes and 0 dislikes! Let's hope it stays that way! :D

  • @Ryguy1050 haha thanks! yeah i hope so too

  • EPIC :D

  • @ZARYKJ thank you!

  • hi, what's the model of the crash cymbal you're using on the left? thanks!

  • @mrfantastique89 sabian hhx evolution 17" . but really any thin dark crash with a little more projection than a trad cymbal will give you a similar effect :)

  • @gc302047 people are kind :) i appreciate it

  • Little tip: Add more highs in the kick and decrease a little bit the lows! What mics are you using on your snare drum?

    BTW Amazing played!

  • @Kevinkoch2443 thanks! mics where all owned by the studio, they were super expensive ones that got such a great sound. unfortunately i dont know much about that side of recording to give you a helpful answer.

  • shame on you!!! you put shit on one of the greatest songs ever!!

    SHAME ON YOU!!!

  • @MASTER3here thanks for the constructive comment :) not watching is much easier than complaining

  • That was freaking awesome! Amazing- I'm in awe.

  • This deserves WAY more views :D

  • @computerfreakDK thanks for the kind words. only way that will happen is if people who like it share it with other people who might be interested.

  • @computerfreakDK i agree

  • first time as i see you i thought: omg what a nerd. after i watched it i think- omg youre highskilled! and what were learning bout this? dont have just one opinion

  • @RonaldSpeirs506 all gingers are nerds? lol thanks for watching :)

  • this.. is . hot.

  • @alexxomgg thanks!

  • I love your Floor Tom Beat. Great Cover. Exiting :)

  • @doenerbubi thanks! yeah this tune has a lot of energy so it inspired a lot of ideas when i played. was fun to try and make 2 toms sound like more than 2 toms.

  • New series is killer man. keep it up! Btw Jeenkees vid was ridiculous.

  • @prestonplatt thanks! 2 more jenkees to come plus 1 other video

  • You're sooo good! This & your drumming with Stay Crunchy are on my favourites :) x

  • @xBethanyRuthx thank you!

  • WOW! you inspire me to become a drummer!! you are truly amazing! i felt as if i was in a movie hehe oxox

  • @missthavy83 your face inspires me :P

  • @drumgroovemusic shh... dont tell my bf that :D

  • @missthavy83 he knows :P

  • un batterista magnifico

  • @nightfox19891 thanks!

  • Have you thought about doing lesson videos? You have a really unique style to your playing, I know I could definitely learn a thing or two from you.

  • @stri8ted i have thought about that side of things. what would you want to see a video(s) about? what things would you want covered, or questions answered?

  • @drumgroovemusic Mainly videos on your polyrhythm groovy type stuff, left/right hand independence. How to build and incorporate that jazzy feel into more modern melodic rock.

  • @stri8ted i feel more from a phrasing point of view than a polyrhythm type thinking. basically just involves getting used to how groups of 3, 5 and 7 feel against a 4/4 click. once you're used to the different places phrases start and end within a bar and over a bar its pretty straight forward. playing open handed helps a lot with getting both hands even. jazzy feel for me comes from working on the physical side of that style and listening to how that music feels and doing his over time.

  • get all your stuff on itunes or something so i can buy/download it

  • @pdeperio lol thanks! i couldn't with the current stuff, but future things might be available to download, especially with the stuff im looking into now.

  • Nice drumming!!

  • @tubester4567 thank you!

  • sounds so epic ! gave me chills haha , nice drumming !

  • @Ausoran wow thanks!

  • Good Job Matt. Sounds very good to my ears. Please more of this stuff. :-)

  • @MrLooser0815 thanks! the plan is to record 10 short tunes of this stuff in dec/jan and go back to maybe weekly videos for that time. after that hoping to get into live studio recording with other musicians for this channel. :)

  • That was beautiful! Your ideas were clear and precise!

  • @aldy32 thanks dude!

  • absolutely mind blowing. Please more of this stuff!

  • @gurkenhamster thanks! yes that is the plan, 6 more orchestral pieces will be in the next series and 3 piano ones i think. will record in december or january i think.

  • Blew my mind, even better than the old videos.

  • @Poulmy thank you! hopefully it remains that way and each series moves forward past the previous one :)

  • so awsome. you keep getting better

  • @stri8ted thanks! i hope so, its good to keep slowly, gradually improving :)

  • Playing for the music kind of technicality is much more entertaining than straight drummy technical stuff anyways. Another great video Matt!

  • @playswithpassion thank you! yeah i think so too. i thought about it after the fact and if i had blown chops through the tune i think the feeling would have not come through as much. whatever came out in this video was just from the moment so hopefully it feels natural :)

  • Great song, amazing drums, overall fantastic video, man. Good work.

  • @maybejustmaybe123 thank you!

  • how do yyou stop your snare having ring on it once its tightened that much?

  • @thelethalmoo

    Moongel. Check out rtom.com

  • @hoytvisionfilms nice, thanks

  • @hoytvisionfilms does the ring usualy come from top or bottom skin?

  • @thelethalmoo the blue things on my drums in this video are moon gels. they're readily available and not expensive. you can use more than one per drum if you really need to. sometimes people like the ring though, so i guess its very much up to personal taste and the playing situation you're in.

  • @drumgroovemusic cool, yeah sounds nice, im stuck with gaffa taping bog-roll to the bottom of some of my drums atm :P. but yeah. i like a bit of ring but im stuck at a point where i want more snap but cant tighten the snare anymore without it just being a ringing mess XD so il look into those, thanks

  • Sounds great man!

  • @anthonyjohn14 thanks!

  • damn... that sounded REALLY good

  • @lucasathus thank you!

  • Also, I kinda noticed the Josh Freese vibe, even before I read it. Love his drumming and APC, good work :D

  • @j0gan673 haha yeah, its not trying to play like him as such, but just coming from a similar place. like similar rock driving feeling. though obviously we are different drummers. and yeah he is brilliant :)

  • Loved the tom pattern

  • @j0gan673 thanks! yeah kind of came out of nowhere, but ahead of time i had an idea about playing something that sounded like a lot of toms but only played on 2 toms hehe. you can create interesting layers adding the base drum and including unison notes with both hands.

  • dude, that's fucking awesome drumming. great song choice as well. -pete

  • @Ipikop thanks dude!

  • you can drum epically..... and are a ginger. 0.O

  • @dddavidshadowp he's not ginger. Not even daywalker.

  • @doodleguitarist ...... ok my pc sux so maybe i got it wrong but I SWEAR he looks ginger on my pc

  • @dddavidshadowp thanks! and yes i am a ginger :)

  • @drumgroovemusic i take it gingers tick 2gether :p
