Best Mrs J?? Sorry no way! She sings flat!!! Seen Lyn Paul and Niki Evans in the role and they were both NOTE PERFECT. That's the whole point isn't it? Nothing against Mel C, she's fine but she's behind these two in this role.

Lyn Paul is the best Mrs.J in my opinion, seen the show 11 times, 7 times with Lyn Paul, 1 time with Niki Evans and 3 times with Linda Nolan.

I saw this at the beginning of November in Liverpool and I've got to say it made a change to have a Mrs Johnstone with a believable accent! I've also seen Barbera Dickson as Mrs J and Mel was my favourite, she brought the house down and the standing ovation was well deserved

Barbara Dickson is the best Mrs. J!!! I got to play this role last fall, and it was such an honor to be a part of it, let alone be Mrs. Johnstone. <3 BB is my baby! I don't feel like Mel C put enough emotion into it, but this is one of the better recordings I've heard of her on here. I worry that the rumors of this becoming a film could be true. I think for hardcore BB fans it could be a disaster to watch...

I know she's been slated for her performance as Mrs J, but I really like Mel C playing her! I think she just potrays the character differently than Linda Nolan (who was also fantastic) , it's just 2 different interpretations :)

I saw Melanie 8 times as Mrs J, and each time she got better and better....she is amazing.....when someone gives you goosebumps and makes you cry everytime with her performance then she is defo doing something right!!!!!....see you in Liverpool in November Mel....love ya loads xxxx

I saw Lyn Paul in Hastings last week and I would simply say that she is AMAZING!!! Her voice was so right and she played the role so well! Her age i felt added to the piece as it was like she was remenising on what life was like with the young children. I think that Mel sounds too 'pop' like and slightly American. Sorry.

The best Mrs J, by a huge margin, is Barbara Dickson! She was chosen by Willy Russell, she created the role and she won the Olivier Award. Plus the score/story is strongly influenced by folk music which, given its the genre from which Dickson emerged, suits her voice far better than that of Kiki Dee.

Completely disagree with that . I think she's perfect . I personally think she would be much better for the part . Does Mel C really look like a woman who's had the experience raising 8 children ? (& giving birth to 9 :P) . Plus Mickey & Eddie look practically the same age as her .

@chris276100 the film has been talked about for ages.. I hope it does happen one day, but i'm not holding my breath for it. Mel C would be a good name to plug into it but they may want to go down the more unknown route (the opposite of the Mamma Mia route in other words).
