  • They got mad because it was an Airbus, but American workers would be working on them in the US. They just didn't want this going to the gulf coast and a conservative district. Boeing is not ALL AMERICAN anymore either.

  • When it was my turn to talk, I mentioned the scandal and the 618 million dollar fine and the fact that they were allowed to apply it to their taxes due. To my surprise, Yes they made out quite well on that one... then he made a move as if his earphone had directed him to shut up. He did and my call was disconnected. CSPAN a private corp.press provided as a public serv. by the cable Ind. YEP IT IS THAT INDEED, LOOK AT CABLE LEGISLATION THAT PASSED WHEN CSPAN STARTED

  • When the Boeing scandal related to the theft of Lockeeds design secrets was overwith;

A Senate committee held a kiss ass meeting for the new kiss ass Boeing Pres. The following EARMARK session was covered by CSPAN. The typ stroke progam also on CSPAN during the givaway. I called when the BOEING rep was on the show. I was asked what my question was on the topic, I had never been, or since, asked such a question on CSPAN. I gave a bla answer to the screener.

  • Anybody know what name was chosen from the whole list of names submitted for its name?

  • not selected yet as far as i know.

  • On the Air Force's Homepage they announced that the Northrop Grumman plane was selected and they just ended their selection process for the name. Hopefully, they come up wth it soon.

  • by not selected i was talking about your specific question, the name. given the dispute still raging over the contract that may also still change. but i've not heard what name they picked yet. if you find out please do post it here as a comment. thanks!

  • This is crazy!! These guys can compete all day long on the commercial side and that's fine. I just don't believe the DOD should ever go overseas for hardware. Things could change next week and then, once again, the U.S. is dependent on a foreign source! Wrong, wrong, wrong!

  • You are correct.

  • Whoever won the contract, whether boeing or northrop, you're still going to deal with foreign hardware. 20% of boeings planes are built with foreign parts.

  • You're already dependent on some Euro countries for most of your small arms, especially Belgium (FN) and Germany (H&K). The new presidential helicopter is also European, same for the US Coast Guard's latest helos. The US already uses lots of EU hardware, same as the EU uses plenty of US hardware. What's the problem? We have to buy yours, but buying ours is taboo?

This will only create more jobs in the US, that's where the planes will be built.

  • I agree... its wrong to think that the US would be independent from foreign countries in the development of weapons and military equipement. Apart from small arms, the US Forces uses German and British technology for their tanks (Guns and Armor) as well.

After the retrait of EADS, Boeing will finally deliver the Tanker... that is a (illegal) success for Boeing but a defeat for the US Air Force, because they will get the worse product.

  • This might turn out to be a good deal over all? If the competition really was fair, clean and the numbers are correct in favor of EADS, maybe it's a good deal? How much bang for the buck is the Air Force getting? I have more questions than answers, sorry.

  • that's typical american, when they hear AIRBUS they think FRANCE :) at least a few americans know where France, where Europe is *lol*

As a matter of fact France has a leading role in EADS, close followed by Germany. The Tankerdeal generates additional employments in US, NOT in Europe, think of that! And eventually consider technology/reliability of aircraft, and NOT patritism and lobby, which is decisive to such decisions. Airbus stand for cutting-edge technology to affordable prices.

  • As an American citizen, I am proud of the fact that Northrop/Grumman won the bid, because it was fair, transparent, and the best man won! Simple, and that's what American was built on: competition and delivering the best bang for the buck, right? The fact is that Boeing had this sense of entitlement, and they didn't adhere to certain requirements of the RFP; moreover, for all you Airbus-bashers, Boeing has always outsourced a lot of their work to foreign countries-common sense people.....

  • 2500 new jobs wow thank you sue payton your to kind.

  • Airbus is not French, it's French, German, British and Spanish. The truth is that it's easier for an American to bash the plane when you say it's French. If the US end up rejecting the NG/EADS contract then the Brits, the Italians, the Dutch, the Norwegians and the Danes should choose the Typhoon, the Gripen or the Rafale over the F-35/JSF.

  • The reporter (Air Force? DoD?) who wrote the script did make the mistake of calling the airframe supplier French. You are right - EADS (Airbus) is multi-national and mostly European.

  • Europeans must think of it, whether they really need new fighters in ages, where we have "assymmetric warfare", a very well formed journalistic term. Let the US (and maybe the Brits) waste their money for expensive toys.

  • So far I've approved every comment on this video and my other stories. I'm okay with views pro and con; all I ask is that you keep it civil. Do that and you'll be heard - no matter your perspective. Would appreciate you rating the videos, subscribing to the channel, and helping us grow. We know we are part of the world and there are excellent aviation and space firms all over the planet. Thanks!

  • Stand up for Boeing, and stand up for America. Express your feelings on this situation to our government:

Log on or call the White House directly at (202) 456-1111

  • And then I hope the rest of the world stops buying american products, wouldn't that be great? That's the liberal american market for you, protectionism in absurdum. Wonder if Boeing wants to sell some F-35's?

  • Not sure I understand what you mean.... Boeing doesn't make the F-35 Lockheed does, and the plane is better than the Boeing offering.

  • I'm not really sure what you mean about Boeing wanting to sell F-35's?

  • a challenge to Boeing.
