  • very useful bit of information. thank you

  • Damn Glad to see you alive and thriving J. =)

  • Hey man, I am just starting to explore the world of custom knives, and I was wondering how a stag handle to have tight tolerances and strength where it meets with the guard/ blade

For a wood/ mircarta type handle scales, you just bolt.rivet them with a epoxy backup to a full tang, correct? And to put a cross guard on a full tang knife would you just have to make the hole in the center larger to fit over the full tang?

Sorry for all the Q's, i'm new to this...

  • No sweat, send me an e-mail ad I'll be glad to help however I can.

  • thanks for the tip and , visited your web site , the knife blanks can they be purchased without your stamp ?

  • They always get my logo... where the logo goes can be worked out.

  • Hey Jay nice vids . You probably don't remember me but i use to talk to you and Tess at the ncca shows all the time . I'm finally starting to make knives to sell and i think your vids will help . Hope to see you at an ncca show again .

  • just wondering if u ever heard of eddie white

  • Not that I can think of.

  • automotive wax?? on cooking knives?

  • On cooking knives I'd use food-safe wax or a light coating of veg. oil on the blades (the same way you'd use WD-40 on working knives). That's what I do on mine.

  • oh i know that. in the video i thought you were suggesting mother's caranuba wax for cooking knives. haha.

  • Ah, ok. Nope, just in general.

  • i'll give it a try...thanks.

  • ive heard that to give it a mirror finish you should alternate the direction of the scratches (gaurd to tip, spine to edge)

  • You mainly do that for a satin or hand-rubbed finish but, a mirror finish will involve buffing and polish.
