  • INCREDIBLE. i do believe i had discovered Pink Floyd's inspiration for Atom Heart Mother. stunningly hauntingly beautiful!

  • I feel honored to be playing such a beautiful piece of music this year, its actually is the reason I'm staying in band till my senior year of college.

  • @13katty13 Brannon is that you?

  • @xerxes876 Ummm who is this?

  • lol

  • I prefer the slower version to this more upbeat tempo. The music has more feeling when it's played slower I think.

  • @416610971 I agree. This one seems way too fast.

  • i loved the clarinet part at 1:16-1:40. it had such a beautiful sound. and the way it projected its sound. i cant believe they would not include a part like this when i played it during my marching season.

  • beautiful :-)

  • Where can I find this sheet music for orchestra?

  • you should listen to 1996 phantom regiment " a defiant heart "

It is impossible to find sheet music for this song

I play the euphonium and the accompaniment from 2:30 to 2:55 is the most amazing thing ever!! I would love to learn it

  • i played this in 2006 with geneseo high school band :D

  • Haltom is doing symphony 10 and this by Shostakovich this year for state marching

  • EPIC is the only word to describe this.

  • @RenjiKuabara

that is a pretty beast fact

    hahaha

  • @adamlovestrombone Yes it is a pretty beast fact. Also considering that we played this for our marching band show this year and won 1st place. ^-^

  • @RenjiKuabara What school do you go to and what state?

  • @xerxes876 Greenwood Marching woodmen in Indiana.

  • @RenjiKuabara coincidentally your show has music from our show last year ( Ballet for Martha) and our show next year which has Shostakovich.

  • Mysterious.. yet created by a genius.

What would we do without this composer?

  • does anyone know what key this song is in?

  • @theShiftblade

    B minor

  • my winterguard is doing this music for our show and my instructor is making us do a report about the music its due tomorrow and i cant find what the meaning of the piece is so i was wondering if you did?? if you know please tell me thanks =)

  • Mistahkuurtz, I would like you to go and search "Loveland high school marching band state finals 2009". I believe this and the Phantom Regiment translation of this gorgeous piece is well-done, though nothing will beat the original.

  • An orchestral masterpiece. But I played this in marching band back in 2001... it doesn't translate well to the field.

  • @mistahkuurtz You obviously haven't heard Phantom Regiment's rendition of it.

  • @mashdoctor what year did they play it? Greenwood highschool played it this year and its stuck in my head constantly

  • @mashdoctor nevermind, found it lol

  • @mistahkuurtz hey were playing this in marching band this year lol

  • @azncommie97 What band are you in? My band is too playing for our show. Sadly they just rewrote and the whole beginning is just solos...

  • @Seirra54 im in the haltom high school band. theres a couple of videos of us here on youtube. il msg u one

  • @mistahkuurtz i like the marching version better or at least the one that i am doing its more dramatic with brass

  • I could die and go to heaven. Where has Shostakovich been my entire life???!

  • Ridiculously good, and gothic enought to suit, say, a Tim Burton film.

  • Lovely basregister for the Bastrombone after 3 minutes.

I really love playing this one, not that difficult but really great for the volume and sound.

  • My winterguard used this music in 2002. It was a fabulous show and this music still gives me chills!

  • Hey all my band kiddos!! you are all nerds. but i love you guys. solo in vide cor meum oh yeah!!

  • OMG, fellow LHS band kids. ;). I think I know who you guys are. I'm one of the soloists...

  • Rochester Patriot Winterguard used this piece for their show one year.. can't remember which year.. 2002 maybe?

  • Do you mind if I put this as a featured video on my channel for a while?

  • I love you Mitia!!!

  • Wow.

  • This maybe is the affirmation I've looking for...

  • This man really had sincerity in his heart.

He shows how to love and how to cope with a loss in this piece.

    Truly, truly brilliant.

  • i love this piece!

  • Phantom Regiment 1996: A Defiant Heart

    ^

look for that if you'd like to see how

DCI does this piece. personally i think

    its pretty awesome! =D

  • It's amazing.

  • STUPENDO

  • I don't really like classical music, but I LOVE this song

  • Don't see why thats a bad comment. I love classical and I find a song that I randomly heard good. I can't find anything wrong with that.

  • This music is rising...rising to a place with no obstruction, only pure clarity and greatness...

  • BEAUTIFUL !!!

I can find no other words.

    Thanks.
