BG 7.20: Those whose intelligence has been stolen by material desires surrender unto demigods and follow the particular rules and regulations of worship according to their own natures.
Zakir is a shallow scholar. People who quote scriptures without practicing the spirit of religion make people narrow minded. It is not what is in the book that is important. What people practice in the name of religion is important. Historically, great crimes have been done in the name of religions, including Islam. It is in the interest of our common humanity that we understand and repudiate the past and present mistakes done in the name of religion and work towards common humanity.
