  • does that wing even provide any downforce because it lookd like it was bout to crumble lik a biscuit

  • Skip to 0:43 where the video actually starts.

  • Very Nice!

  • Loose the shit music

  • i hate how pikes peak is paved in some parts now and im still confused as to why

all i see are the drivers struggling on those turns

    escudo pwns all :)

  • mi abuela va mas rapido !!

  • ford rs200 is a 4 wheeled orgasm ... WOOHOO

  • It would be cool if the U/S was into F1, but they can't make a N/A high powered 2.4L....

  • well done dude!! awesome car control!!

look out for the monster ford rs200 next year!!

  • where can i see the video without some crappy music over the engine sounds?

  • It's good to see the US playing catch up in rallying. As you'l know it's been around as a motorsport for a while, but you tend to forget how extreme it actually is.

If you ever get the chance to go to a WRC round, it's worth seeing first hand how insanely fast these cars go.

  • I'm a huge rally fan, but you don't exactly have your facts straight:

The first WRC championship was in 1973

The first Pikes Peak Hill Climb was in 1916

(that's fifty seven years earlier, to be exact)

Now, I'm a huge WRC fan too, but there is no way you can say the U.S. is playing catch up. Remember, at least we still have an official Subaru Rally Team!

  • Didn't mention any facts really, just a statement based on observation. Still think the US is way behind in most motor sports.

  • Corvettes in Le Mans, Ford GTs and Mustangs in GT3 & 4 and grabbing pole at the Nurburgring 24 hours, Spies is doing well in Superbike, Nicky Hayden doing fine in MotoGP, American open-wheel racing finally showing some life, more life than F1 at times, etc. Please don't let NASCRAP block your view, your "observation" of our racing. We have road tracks popping up everywhere every year, this year a new one in New Jersey & in Oregon.

  • Amen

  • Nope, the U.S. is doing fine in motorsports. Look at it this way:

The U.S.'s top open wheel league dictator just stepped down.

One of Europe's top open wheel league dictators stepped down, but you guys still have a Nazi running Formula 1.

Tell me I'm wrong! Please defend Mr. Ecelstone, I dare you!

  • Agreed. USA USA USA.

But srsly Pikes Peak International is the zenith of rallying technology and balls. No stupid limiting regulations. And if you crash you pretty much fall hundreds if not thousands of feet off a perfectly beautiful Colorado peak. And like you said its older than WRC.

  • Is this evo running a sequential tranny or a standard tranny.

  • We were running a stock IX gearbox in the car for all of 2009.

  • Thats freakin awesome.

  • This track rocks. I live ten min away, and when ever I get a chance I hit it up.

    Night time rocks....allot of danger.

The most beautifull place is when your on top of the mountain

going down is even more exhilarating, if you get a chance takie it on. Worth the time.

  • why not just the sounds of the car and the dirt?

  • very niceee!!! Makes me proud to be an evo owner.

  • unlimited class rox, all others sux

  • Unlimited or die!

  • Yo, nice driving man. I just got into rally recently. So could you explain to me what all this group B stuff is. and what the actual WRC is. I no the big names like Ken Block and Travis P, do u compete in the same stuff they do?.

Sry for being such a noob.

  • If you think Pastrana and Block is big names in worlds rally then you are quite wrong :) Group B is class witch was banned in 1986 becouse of many deadly accidents. Cars was too fast and crowd too crazy. Now there is WRC class at top and cars there do around 320bhp. So not too much power, but those cars are peace of fantastic engeneering :) This hillclimbing is really far from classic rally.

  • Aw okay.. and about Pastrana n Block, I was considering them big names because i feel like they are bringing more people to rallying because of there status. Wuld you consider the guy in this video to be as good as them? Also, i no of rally america, but is that the same as WRC? or is rally america like minors compared to WRC?

  • Hard to say what this guy could do in rally, because I think in america you mostly use group N evo`s and Sti`s, so this car in hill climb is totally different and much more powerful, in group N cars are on stock or on even less power because of limitations of mods. I think those classic rally events in America is like WRC, just there is no WRC cars. By the way WRC cars will be banned after 2009 season for being too expencive.

  • jeez, then what r people goina rally in? n how man "groups" r there?

  • WRC will be replaced by S2000 naturally aspirated cars. Hard to say how many groups, because in some countrys its different. Whatever Nowdays WRC cars even with much less power beates down group B cars. In some events I seen even group N cars were able to go faster.

  • lol thats sick, bc im an s2000 owner.

  • I'm the driver in the vid. While I'd love to say I can duke it out with the top guys in US rallying, the funding it takes to put a top level car together is astounding. We're just scraping by with the hillclimbs, but having a great time doing it, with great support from AMS. The car in this vid actually has less power than the VT SportsCar prepped Subies that Ken & Travis run, but for 2009, the car should get a healthy dose of AMS power! Stay tuned, and thanks for watching!

    Dave

  • They are what brought rally to US although rally has been around forever.

  • Similar cars for sure, but two totally different types of racing. Rallies are usually 10-20 stages of varying length, and PPIHC is just one 12.4 mile run.

We should have our car out at Rally Colorado in September 09, and Travis & Ken were at the race in 2008.

    Dave

  • its a shame FIA banned group B cars from the WRC, hence the reccord will not be broken soon

  • I'm not sure if the Group B cars would be able to keep up with the purpose built cars like Millen's Toyotas or Monster's Suzuki in the Unlimited class. I think what you'll actually see breaking overall records in the years to come are actually open-wheel formula cars.

Luckily they've got classes for all sorts of cars, so the rally based cars will still have a place to play.

    Dave

  • Damn, AMS is just killing every competition they get into. I wonder what dog box they were using? If it was one at least.

  • This is Dave, the guy driving in the vid. We didn't have a dogbox. We blew a cusco diff in practice and didn't have a spare so we had to scrounge for parts. We ended up piecing together two broken transfer cases, so we had a mean transfer case whine. We're trying to source a dog-box for next year though!

If you type rallyadvertising into the search function on youtube, you can find some full length clips of us running the event.

    Dave

  • Oh shit! I'm actually talking to THE driver in the video, what a privilege. Your my hero. But so that's what the noise was. You should get a PPG dogbox.

  • We're going with some serious AMS power (engine, turbo kit, intake manifold...etc) for next year, so the dogbox is 2nd on the list. I'd love to have one, but they're very expensive.

  • Alright, cool. Tell me what are the official mods for next year when their installed.

  • good job man, glad to see the evo doing what it is meant to do(rally).

just giving you a heads up, many big subaru/audi tt shops are gunning for you know man.

once again good job, that was some real good driving.

  • More competition is a good thing. The event really needs to start bringing in some more cars like it did back during the "Group B" days.

What classes are those other shops going to be racing in, Pikes Peak Open, or Time Attack?...or maybe even some outright record breaking cars to go up against Monster in Unlimited?

  • Congratulations and well done, fantastic result, must really take some focus to stay competitive on that section of road.

  • awesome, but do you have a version without the music?

  • now i am not going to lie, never been a real big evo fan but anyone who attacks pikes peak gets a pat on the back from me. good job ams...

  • As this song is called ?

  • As this song is called

  • "Ladies and Gentlemen" (I'm pretty sure) by Saliva. Great tune....

  • the intro song is "into the fire" by noa assembly. This is the Tiesto Remix from In search of sunrise 3.

  • Thanks for assembling a great vid Rich!

  • that's a great vid!

  • Rich is teh man!

  • awesome! great job AMS!

  • Congrats to the Kern's! Awesome work everyone.
