  • Brand new Dulcimer Player here, Thank-you so much for your awesome videos they are very helpful,

Take Care and God Bless ... Rex

  • Very nice and simple, easy to follow.

  • These are very helpful, easy to understand lessons, thank you for putting these up. They're wonderfully helpful, and it's much easier to learn through this than with sheet music :)

  • Thank you for your kind comments. More are on the way

  • I do have a small quetion, if I may. I have an Apple Creek beginner's plucking dulcimer, but it has 18 frets on it. Is that much different than the one you use? [And if need be, I can try to get a picture of it for reference :) ]

  • Is the 4th string the doubled melody string? If so, you would play it like a regular three string dulcimer. I took the doubled melody string off of my dulcimer since it hurt my fingers so much. Hope this helps!

  • Hey, thanks for this. I really wanto to learn how to play (well) the dulcimer. Here in Brazil i didn´t find any place that teaches dulcimer... So... the 4 strings dulcimer have any big difference in the learning methods?? Thanks again!!!

  • I have a question for you. Im not real familiar with stringed instruments. Ive started on the dulcimer and its amazingly easy but I have a lot of trouble tuning it. I try to tune it with my keyboard but it just sounds so different I know guitars have electronic tuners but I cant use the ones Ive seen for dulcimers . I have thought about pitch pipes but when it says D to D I have no idea what D it is referring to.. If you know a good way to tune it pls let me know, at your leisure :)

  • I use a regular electronic tuner. You can buy one at a music store or order them on the internet. I tune the bass string (thick one) to D, the middle string to A and the melody string A. It's the easiest to start with. However, there are several other tunings as well depending on the key signature of the piece you are playing. Hope this helps!!!!

  • I did tune it before the video with an electronic tuner. i will recheck in the next video. Thank you for your positive feedback. It is appreciated!

  • a good dulcimer is costly. She is smart it is better to buy a cheap on first to learn to play. The only thing is that it is a little out of tune.

  • I always appreciate positive and constructive comments.

This dulcimer is for student use and folks who don't want to spend a lot of money until they see if they really are going to stay with it. I started on this one and became so interested with the instrument that I had a cherry wood dulcimer handmade for me. The video is meant for those who are truly interested and want more of an instructional type format.

  • I really do appologize for that. I really should of have made that comment sound a little nicer. You are a very good teacher though. I really do need to leave a positive comment because you took the time to make this video. I should of said that was a very unique dulcimer. I am very sorry.

  • Thank you for your kind reply. You were very thoughtful!

  • very helpful, please give us some more

  • I hope to have some more dulcimer lessons in the near future. Thanks for the positive comment!!!!!!!

  • Thank you, this is very helpful for me.
