nice, good oil pressure, but piston rings wont be pleased to be reved to 3500 after sitting so long, even though its a benz ;-)

If you want to keep it, you should do a transmission, engine and diff oil change...

@NFreund yes, this was in 2010 though and will be sitting to next summer at least.. its a shame, i got another merc last year i picked up from a field sitting as long as this one, now restored and used as every day car. :) see on my channel. ill see if my grandpa feel like it he could help me with this one aswell, to be honest the body of my other merc looked worse since it had a lot of holes in it. the seats in this one has had covers since 1991.

@klramon certainly! sadly this one wasnt saved and is still sitting on the field, fully funktioning pressumably.. love that car but got another mercedes and restored that! :) check vids on my channel.

@coolakiIlen007 I think it wouldn't worth it to restore this one. 400 000 km is quite a lot and it has lots of rust. I am sure that brakes aren't got either because it spend so much time without movement and tubes are corroded.

@klramon 400.000 is nothing on these engines ..w124 rust a lot more then w123 but this one does not look so bad...

as always (when a car have been sitting on grass you will have some corrosion in the floor pan e.t.c

but spare parts are easy to find..

Mycket bra bil.. Kjøpte min første w124 for en uke siden.. 15000 NOK for en haug med rust.. Motoren funker som bara det! Har alltid hatt lyst på en W124, men med diesel.. er skeptisk til bensin och 230E motoren på 124.. brukar mycket bensin :S

400.000 på en 230E er ganske mye.. Min har gått 533.000 men er sikkert skrudd tilbaka siden det er en gammal taxi.. :P

@xpsghawkx jo w124:orna är väldigt bra framför allt pålitliga bilar! just denna 230E har varit en av mina favoritbilar sen ja var liten. hade tänkt renovera den, men förra året köpte jag en w123 240D renoveringsobjekt. som också stått 3 år som denna. funkar utmärkt endast hos Mercedes! :) ja 400 000 är inte så mycke. fixa bränsleröret och tanka lite så startar den igen. :) dieselarna går väldigt långt, min har bara 337 000km..

@BadMat92 im sure, how does the "mini-six" work on the w124? they are not very common, mostly usual with 3 or 3,2 l inline six. the biggest problem with my w124 is the hole in the fuel pipe, otherwise i could go drive it right now.. i still wanna do something about it, but now it has no safety belts cus they are in my w123.. :P

@coolakiIlen007 oh it works verry well! yes you´re right mostly usual with 3,0l sixline but its the same *m103* engine like the 260e. it was only the image why usual much more 300E than 260E. but ive get it from my grandpa so i love this car. next time the car get complete new brakes.i hope it became a oldtimer so i can drive at sundays :D sorry for my english i hope you understand. what kind of w123 do you have?

@BadMat92 yeah, this w124 230E is also my grandpas.. it was put out there for just a rusty tow-bar... i love that car and wanted so restore it, but then i got a w123.. its a 240D -83 manual, ive got some videos of it on my channel :)

@BadMat92 no it doesnt.. this was a year ago and it still sits on the same field, presumably still working.. shame i couldnt save it. :( we went there yesterday to get the seatbelts from it, and the seats are still as new thhanks to the serious pull over cloth on the seats. the reason for it to sit there was the tow-bar didnt pass inspeciton..

@ilia93 truly.. it was left there for another year, might pay it a visit this summer.. :) ive been restoring another mercedes, so maybe this can be next, most vital known problems are windshield, fuel pipes, c-locking (its electric, unlike older mercs that had vacuum locks which is more reliable) the body isnt very rusty for 4 years of sitting in rain and under snow..

awesome. It workes! HA! I sold my 1995 E320 Silver wagon to my friends sister.. she still loves it and drives it everyday. It always runs perfect and was so stealthy ha! but it was costly to repair.. awesome car though.

@rivermonsoon yeah, the w124 are great cars! grandpa has owned the 230 since 1991 and i always wanted to ride in it when they came visit! :) we had a 1994 E 320 manual sport getrag gearbox. ran great too! but i like the old w123 diesels too! they are the best cars. :)

@tour93 ja! jag har alltid sagt, sedan många månader: ´jag blir inte förvånad om han startar, men ja vart så chockad när han startade snabbare än våran -00 270cdi!
