BF3: Roles of the Recon Kit

What are call outs. Is that spoting or using the mic?

@romanstennine Well spotting is awesome, but for my friends, it's not enough. So if you look at some of my other videos, I've made a bunch of callouts, and we consider that using the mic. Short and easy names for certain areas of the map. So if we don't get the spot, or many people spotted, etc, we can still tell our team exactly where the high priority targets are, etc.

@farcry2outlaw I have read some tactics books before. BUT you can't apply all real life tactics to a video game. So you have to understand tactics, but more importantly have to know how to adjust them to make them better for a video game...

i have read over 7, i apply them as i would in a real combat situation and i perform as a Delta force operative.

@farcry2outlaw Well I don't just sit down and read one for kicks. ROTC classes in college, just as electives. So we discuss that kind of stuff.

But again, if I played exactly how I would move in real life, games would be boring in my opinion. Real life is much slower (in most cases) much more planned out. For me, it's more about map knowledge and using cover.

Now using a bit when it comes to squad dynamic, covering fire, etc can come in handy.

I'm trying to get some groups together on PC and PS3 though, for those who want a friendly and tactical group to play with, but not on xbox for me. Hopefully more on that sometime soon.

Spawning on the beacon will cause you to appear as normal or parachute depending on:

1) If the beacon is placed inside a building, you will always spawn directly onto it.

2) If the beacon is placed outside, you will parachute down.

3) If the map has no aerial vehicles, you will always spawn directly on it, inside or out.  (this is not the case on some of the small conquest assault maps).

Last point, the direction you face when you place the beacon is the direction you squad will spawn facing.

@jwbeasle1 Great tips on the spawn beacon. I covered this in a previous video, I think it was like "Basic Tips" or something, but I DEF should have brought it up again as pertinent to this kit. And you know, I knew about the weapon, but never really used it. Will do more testing in game and probably make an update video of sorts on it, and of course, give you credit.

...and also be used for aerial recon. Very helpful if you are solo capping a flag or arming/defending an m-com.

One thing that wasn't mentioned was the MAVs weapon. No, not using it to fly into people. It has a counter-equipment weapon that you can use against enemy MAVs, TUGS, Spawn Beacons (possibly mines but haven't tested). Just aim the crosshair, wait for the lock, and then press fire. This will send a small electrical pulse, destroying the equipment.

Finally your recon vid is up! haha I know you said it wasn't your favourite but you are a fairly good shot mate (only notable misses was on the tehran highway clip with the guy lying down by the bus :S haha)

I would suggest to people starting out, if you like using the TUGS, once you unlock the MAV, just use that instead. Scott mentions in the vid that it motion senses, so it does exactly the same as the tugs, but with the capability to fly, be placed on top of buildings in tactical spots...

@mj4everbulls I'm almost useless with a sniper rifle. I can use these tactics to get in great positions, play overwatch, etc, but when it comes to killing, bad aim holds me back.

@Bran4995 Haha, I just overthink everything. So type it out, delete all the worthless info and put these up. Glad you're enjoying. As you see with my clips, I can provide advice for set up, but you have to be able to hit the shots, which I can't. Non stop I get GREAT map position (my strong suit), but my horrible aim keeps me at nothing but an average player ;-)

When you put down your spawn Beacon, your Squad Mates cannot spawn on you. They can only spawn on the beacon.

Good tips! I tend to shoot at everything I see. I also have trouble compensating for bullet drop, I havent quite got it worked out in BF3 yet.
