He only started when he had the glider under control , So he did mutch better as other pitots .The just run and fail. Jou don't have to start in one time ( like you see on the blooper video's ) Only start when ist good and feels save .
ES MUY RIESGOZO DEJAR VOLAR A ESTA CLASE DE PILOTOS QUE NO HAN ENTRENADO LO SUFICIENTE.
O NO LO ENTRENARON BIEN.
it is a risk to let flight solo this kind of pilots. he still need a lot of practice on ground kiting. I give 2 points of ten to his instructor!!! come to Tapalpa Jalisco Mexico. they sure know hot to teach. contact: miguelonvuela@hotmail.com
wind looks very light which makes reverse launch tough, but yeah, there's nothing in this video that we probably all didn't do as beginners. in light wind keep moving backwards as you pull the wing up past that 45 degrees stage. in strong winds you step towards to get under it and then brake it before it over shoots.
Problem is people are to eger to fly and Ground Handling is just as important as flying if not more important! A crap launch = crap flight or may not even get off the ground. The amount of attempts leads me to believe he hasn't practiced enough Ground Handling! In our school we cant fly if we cant ground handle! End of. If we ended up on a hill like that and screwed the launch up and sustained injuries whos fault is it! Both instructor and pilot! PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE!
So what if he tries it for 100 times? As long as he does it controlled, and when it is tending to go wrong, just puts down the glider, I am a happy man!
Keep up the good work, keep trying, do not take a risk. It is all a state-of-mind thing.
A good example of what students should not to do... don't fixate at LOOKING at the wing, don't FIGHT the wing with the brakes, don't 'overstep' going under the wing and don't fail to go back (initaly) under the still rising wing (as that keep the upgoing wing stalled for longer)... that said does a good flight & landing once off the ground!

No arguments needed. Its just a student learning to fly. And he does finally.

Perhaps wing should have laid further back from edge.
For a beginner, while flying, isn't he too close to the ridge ?
