The US had to play in either the deep south, cold north or the midland to get a decent home crowd with minumum foreign fans. I think the US plays well when they're at home or their fans are there. When you have both, almost assured victory, either is great too, but neither... not usually a happy ending.

Without them, Soldier Field last Sunday would've been half-empty with a paltry crowd of soccer moms from Schaumburg and a few other lame folk -- all conspiring to turn a potentially rockin' futbol venue into Comiskey Park or Wrigley Field.
