  • Does the hair grow back after pulling out??

  • so I fell in love very much(with fictional character from book I had read)Then I heard that there had been an ecranisation of the book in cinemas these days.I wanted to go very much but decided that I will, but only being healthy. It was so absurd method to rid off with such an hard and uncontrolled disorder but it worked and lasted few weeks.(but if I wasn’t on love-hormones it wouldnt have been so easy)

I wish you all to rid off with it and find motivation strong enough to win with it.Good luck!

  • When I was 9-12 I had bald places on my head which I had to cover forming some sort of Misty-hairdo. I had been trying to cure it for few years… using some tranquilizers and psychological help but it didn’t work at all. When I was 13 I found the way. (Im not completely cured, bcs I still love pulling but only legs-hair.)

  • For me trichotillomania was a bulb-hunting, bulb obsession.

I'm 23 and I have been suffering from this nasty stuff since I was 7.

I started pulling hair from legs (I was fascinated by the sound of unrooting hair, this nicely prickly feeling and mostly by the look of bulbs. White, fluffy, a bit transparent with black endings. TASTY :( Not all hair I pulled were ended with bulb, so I pulled and was satisfied, when I managed to pull it with a bulb. :/) then arms, bikini areas, then head.

  • I just use toys

  • Have something to do all the time, e.g. once in class I had an urge to pull, but I had a stretchy wristband in my hands, and I simply sat and stretched it and it worked. I've been thinking about getting a stress ball, or something stretchy to carry around with me 24/7. I am going to (well, try to) stop tomorrow (1st Feb 2012!). There are also medications people can try (I haven't tried any though, and don't know any).

  • I was pull free for five months. I used kava kava and was on zyprexa and lexapo. I didn't even have the urge to pull. Now that I'm not on the medication I started to pull again.

  • i cant stop pulling

  • i doo itt :/

  • someone help me stop, i've had enough of it

  • i pull out my eyelashes

  • I still can't stop

  • dont drink alcohol and dont give youre self time to start picking and pulling , like they say the devil finds work for idle hands , i started playing guitar to try and stop pulling at beard growth and in growing hairs.. its a subconcious habit ,daydreaming sets it off., keep youre finger nails short so you cant get a juicy pull or wear gloves when tempted .. fight it .. dont let it creep up on you . good luck.

  • okay, i hear u speak abt it..if u really want to deal with it, just be aware of it when u do it... the awarenss is the key, and it is very much possible, i talk of my experience. take care.

also i have found that i start pullin my hair out when i am doin sth that is not accepted by my subconscious, but conscously i am forcin it on my self, so check this also when u pull hair out..

  • to help eyelashes grow back, you can pul vasoline on ur eyelids every night before bed.

  • @amoonpie321 I do this too. It definitely helps!

  • thank you for telling me about this because i have trichotillomania.

  • okay so this is the first time me talking about this to anyone.Im not sure how long ago it started, but i frst noticed last year as a senior when maiinly in times of boredom i would pull the hair out on my eyebrow.it eventually got down to half an eyebrow(and still is)but recently it's been worse but it has moved to under my chin where my beard is.if i dont shave there is a very noticeable bald spot there..no one understands prolly cause only 4% of ppl in the world have it.... can you help me?

  • I've had trich since I was in 4th grade, about maybe..6 or 7,I had the front of my hair gone, then when I got in 6 grade my eyebrows were gone. I kept pulling until I got my dog, fudgie,my eyebrows were back, until he died. I'm 15 now,my life is good,I just...don't like what my body has become..I'm trying to get better

  • Im 17, I have trich, I love my life and who I am, I just cant help pulling my facial hair.. I have been for a couple months, but I stopped periodically and started again.. I am trying to over come it and stop, wish me the best of luck

  • @mebear45 same here

  • I think I have an idea.... The human body is taught to fear pain so whenever u have the urge u could punch yourself, I kno it sounds wierd bt I think it could help

  • Hi. I had this "disease" if you will, as well, and have fully recovered mentally from it. However, I have noticed that my hair falls out much easier than it has before, and I'm in desperate need of help :( how do I strengthen my hair roots/follicles so that my hair stays on my head and doesn't fall out? Thank you so much:)

  • @michaeljohns78

there are certain shampoo's you can use theyre hair stregthning or just hair thickening,

you can get them at, let's say target, or walmart. I hope this help :)

  • @muffinscute1

What shampoos would they be? Personally, I've shopped around and I still haven't found one that keeps my hair intact :( What do you suggest? Do normal people's hair fall out insanely in the shower and afterwards when combing it as well?

  • @muffinscute1

Thank you so much for the response though! I greatly appreciate you and your help. God bless :)

  • You try this n-acetylcysteine?

    research it.

  • I pick my hands , eyebrows , arms , knees , chin , eyelashes :(

  • i pull my eyelashes out too and everytime i feel ashamed and ugly afterward, i have to wear fake lashes or thick eyeliner to try to hide it and if someone does notice and ask me about it i wanna crawl inside a hole and die, iv treied but i cant fucking stop, i even use tweezers aswell when there to short to pull with my fingers . what the fuck is wrong with me and how do i stop?

  • I pull my eye lashes and eye brows. I pull the outside of my eye brows so it's very hard to cover and I pull out my eye lashes then pull out the remaining ones with tweezers because I hate the feeling of the random small hairs on my eyelids. Afterwards I'm like "why the hell did I fucking do that AGAIN?!" For some reason I let my lashes grow again then pull them out again. I don't think it's right. I think it's wrong and I wish I could stop. I hate it and it makes me feel ugly.

  • "we think thats it's right and we don't think thats it's wrong" - I don't feel that way, when i pull and gratification is immediately replaced by shame! i feel its wrong and i just wish i could stop :(

  • i was pull free for 2 weeks, then i had one of those days -,- i just dont want to admit that i have it

  • i still have trouble stopping does anyone have ideas i do eyebrows and eyelashes

  • @videoaresume i pull my eyebrows and eyelashes too and you know if you ware make up i found the urge to look pretty weith make up not to touch your eyes and eyebrows when you have it all on and vasilen coat your eyebrows and eyelashes with vasilen it make it harder to grab and if you do find yourself pulling stand in front of a mirror and you will want to pull less because you see the side affects these are all that are helping for me and hopfully they help for you

  • the pain/tension feeling compelling you to pull out your hair even more can be reduced with pure eucalyptus oil mixed with some olive oil and rubbed into the sensitive area of the scalp. I kind of numbs/relaxes the scalp a bit. It has greatly reduced my hair pulling!

  • Ice has worked for me.

  • Hi all I'm not 100% sure but this has worked for me. I've been pull free for 7 days. I drink Kava Kava twice daily and I journal.

  • sorry i ment to say pulling my eyebrows when i was 10/11 ...

  • i started pulling my eyelashes when i was about 10/11 and i overcame that and stopped. But now.. its my eyelashes. I start and stop.. they finally grow back and i end up pulling them out all over again *tear* I'm almost 18 this is ridiculous im trying so hard to stop but idk whats wrong w/ me omg.. its so frustrating.

  • I finally realise that it may all be diet. Can it really be as simple as that?

  • Hi i'm an eleven yr. old girl and I searched on Ask.com why i was pulling my eyelashes out, and I seen that is was Trichotillomania and I cannot help it, and i have like a relief or happines when i pull them out. I get soooo embarassed to tell anyone but i saw your video and i want to know how you survived trich because i can't stop. Some nights, I even have to put like hand sanitizer on my hands to not pluck them out. I need help and can you help me??

  • hello.. i have sent replied to your messege... and for me to be able to send you the file... may i have you email add? thanks..

  • hello, i have a thesis coming up regarding TTM and i am wondering if you are willing to contribute by answering one of 6 questions i have.... if you are willing to contribute i would send you the file of the quesitons... your story would be of great help

i also have the disorder, and many other related disorders, my hope is that through writing my thesis paper, i will be able to let the outsiders experience or at least realize our everyday lives... please rep asap.. deadline is on feb 16

  • @ 0:35 - 0:45 I feel represented in an X-Men sort of way, where we have this "disorder" that no one else can relate unless you have trich. I like viewing my trich as great and accomplishing to overcome especially if you look at it positively. It is something we normally shame and are incredibly embarrassed of and spend so much time grieving instead of moving forward and living with what we've done. STAY POSITIVE EVERYONE! We are still alive and soak up everything we can :)

  • yeah i hav trich too and i have cut my hair short but it doesnt seem to work :(

  • @trichsurvivor hi, this is mayday5chantell, I have trich and I do not feel good when I pull, I feel horrible, pathetic even, and I always tell myself this is it the last one and then I d o it again... ): please help! I thought I was a a "survivor" as well because I have had trich since I was 7 and by the time I was 14 I had all my hair, and then my junior yr of high school I had a relapse and woke one day missing patches of hair... what do I do?
