Well Shattered memories goes along in the ranks of SH 1 & 3. Mabye even close to SH 2 (Yes I just sayed that) Also theres the Grudge on Wii, the Penumdra series and Amnesia the dark decent (with the custom stories you'll allways find some scares there)

Ah come on. Homecoming DID have a good plot. The only thing was that it was confused in terms of canon. It's stuck somewhere in between game and movie continuety and because of it the story suffers confusion amoung the rest of the Silent hill games. If you just look over that... and pointless Silent hill 2 moster cameo's it really has a well constructed plot

SPOILERS!! I actually cared more for Alex then James. Yeah James is great but in terms of like how depressing it is Axel wins hands down. Being neglected by everyone and only meant to be killed for the sake of the town. Then later realizing that the one he's gone from hell and back to reunite with as well as 1 of 2 people that cared about him growing up died by his hands. That's why I love Axel more then James though I can feel worse for James in terms of how weak he is.

I actually think in terms of a horror game the only Silent hill games worth while are 3 & 4. The games are awsome but I think the games are more leaning twards sad and depressing stories. As horror games they equip you way too well and the monsters are... pathetic. At least in 3 & 4 I ended up running away in panic from a battle cause either the closers of 3 where beating me down or the Twin victims of 4... just...... .... being there... they terrify me ;---;

@dannyboi866 Yeah I've been looking over a lot of top ## horror lists and game's like Resident Evil 5, Dead Space, and FEAR top the charts. Resident Evil is nowhere near horror, Dead Space is fun but it's just jump scares which get predictable fast, and FEAR is just a FPS with super powers. Silent Hill seems to get the low score now and there's no mention of Rule of Rose ever.

@InsideTheMirror I saw some reviews saying Rule of Rose was a knock of silent hill but it does look really interesting despite what people say about it :PDead space.....eh.... pop up scares and gore...And silent hill being one of the only true survival horror genres getting low scores kinda discourages people to go for them :/

@dannyboi866 That's kind of surprising. It really has no similarities to Silent Hill outside of being a psychological survival horror title. If you can stumble across it I'd suggest giving it a try since it does give off a similar feel to Silent Hill, but again has only 1 similarity. This generation is to use to confusing being startled with being scared.

Re2 took no brains whatsoever to figure out where to go and what to do and the best ways to avoid taking heavy damage. Re3 took no skills or brains to solve some the puzzles and get the precise timing down to doge enemies and counter attack. Not to mention Nemesis chasing you throughout a majority of the game.

Resident Evil 1 and 2 for example are have very difficult enemies and gives you very limited resources. You had to use your head to figure out how to get around them and progress through the game. It also really focused on you exploring everything to find all you needed for puzzles to doors and keys for locked areas. That was very ignorant of you.
