Let me tell you this. Meg might be off beat, but that is one of the factors that made The White Stripes, well, The White Stripes. And that's not only them, a lot of the most beloved and original music groups are so good to listen to because they don't hold on to rules. @PeachSurebet I respect your open mind when it comes to music. We need more people like you in music. Though I have to slightly disagree with Jimi Hendrix not being technical. If he wasn't technical, then Eric Clapton's jaw wouldn't have dropped when he saw Jimi play live. It's the little things like that, that give away Jimi's technical prowness. Listen to Fire and Manic Depression, amazing guitar work. What's even more impressive about him, was that he was so spontanious!

I bet there's plenty of skilled guitarists that could play around Jimi (if still alive, of course) in pure technical skill, but they would never be able to match that emotion he had in his playing. That's the point I was trying to make with one of my posts. Until now, I never knew anyone who really praised Jimi's virtuosity. He always been remembered for his innovating style more than anything.

@PeachSurebet Oh no, from what I read. Eric Clapton's jaw dropped when he saw how fast Jimi played. Of course, raw emotion speaks in higher volumes than techincal (to me). But Jimi had both the traits, so that just shows how amazing Jimi is. Trust me, if anyone and I mean anyone can play like him, then they must be some sort of prodigy! haha! They may know the notes/ chords. But giving Jimi didn't even sweat when he was playing all of those hugely complex solos and riffs.

Can they make that guitar scream sex like Hendrix did? Most probably won't be able to, no. My original point was that, in my opinion, emotion is more important than technical skill in music. That's all I was/am trying to say.
