If it dark, however their eyes are adjusted to the dark and the "flash" part of the flashbang is more effective. They only need to distract them long enough to good guys in.

Flashbangs work by overloading you sense's which leaves you not being able to see anything but light and your ears would ring. Think of it this way, when you look or stair at a light it leaves that little spot on your vision now just intensify that and when you were a kid and shot of a cap gun beside someones ear it would ring again just intensify that.

the screen won't go white. camera sensors are different from human eyes. and even if i were to throw a flashbang through the underside of your chair and right in front your feet, you wouldn't see a white flash as much as anything else. not that i would.
