i know that this question could probably apply to all sea life, but since the monk fish doesn't necessarily kill its prey all the time, nor rip it to shreds, how then, is it able to just eat something slightly smaller than itself but still pretty big while it is still alive without having its stomach(or w/e the hell it is) ripped open or damaged from all the thrashing of its prey while being slowly digested?

its not a monkfish its an angler fish monkfish are completly different species. CHECK out angler fish and you'll see it uses a lure near its mouth to attract fish
