  • In the first Double Dragon, it was possible to complete the entire game with 1 credit using just 1 move (rear elbow smash). Doesn't work anymore in the second game. The enemies got smart. Bummer!

  • 4:29 starts the BEST song. Unleashing the Ogre!!! BEST GODDAMN DD SONG... EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I love how the attract mode demo is Billy and Jimmy getting their asses utterly trounced.

  • Malparido gamín rata inmunda! Horrendo re podrido! Se ve que pasaste horas jugando para poder llegar a ese nivel! El 2do jefe era un autentico dolor de cabeza y alli lo haces quedar en ridiculo!

  • Somebody know where I can find the BGM of the second stage, please?

  • Many part look like recycled stuffs from the first game...

  • @macdeath69 it was a remake with piss poor controls

  • At 1:08, wish it was my ex-wife! LOL

  • Fat Duke at 7:07

  • best AI fighter in 5:30

  • game looks bad ass!

  • "Easy Lover" by Phil Collins? I never really noticed that before. Gangsta's Paradise by Coolio always reminded me of the chorus of this tune though.

  • How come the enemies die after getting knocked down only once?

  • @scottvska Good question I think the challenge level might have been put on low because in the first game they where much tougher you had to take them down something like 3 times.

  • The chicks' screams sound like Princess Peach's smash attack.

  • Holy fuck I remember that giant vader dude and the big rob zombie guy from when u was like seven years old

  • Man the DD1 & 2 soundtracks never leave your head

  • u totally owned the mini boss and boss LoL

  • grr its more like 3:05

  • 3:07 uppercut to the nads lol.

  • tanx you so much for this great time

  • NES version was way better.

  • @Axelhander Nah. They were unique and better than the first one in versatility at least.

  • I wonder did street fighter steal the spin move from double dragon II on NES

  • Wait there was an aracade version of this?

Oh shit going to dl it right now.

  • Holy crap Double Dragon 2! I loved this game on NES and I remember I would play it for hours just to master that awesome air knee! Everytime it connected, the enemy would fly to mars!

  • I always wondered if the gameplay shown during attraction demo mode is off sync. Like who wants to play a game where you get your ass kicked?

  • damn...had i've known as a lil kid that the hurricane kick would kill opponents with one strike, i would have flipped the game with one quarter

  • level 1 music has been "inspired" by "Easy Lover" by Phil Collins & Phil Bailey ;)

  • @ninobaldan Yep. The resemblence is unmistakable.

  • He shot the bitch! Pretty violent opening for kids back then! LOL. wow.

  • @new0033 i rarely remember seeing little kids in arcades in the 80s. was always older kids in my neighborhoods. u only saw kid games at chunky cheese. they were lame.

  • @new0033 bitch shoulda brought him a sandwich ;O

  • It's funny how the level layout was the same for most/all of the levels for this game as Double Dragon 1. Grant it, this game only released a year after the previous, I can understand why they wanted to take some shortcuts and not create new levels from scratch. I consider this game more like Double Dragon 1.5 than Double Dragon 2 because of that. However, there were a lot of improvements over the first. New moves, left and right attack instead of punch and kick, new artwork and level design...

  • That was the music for level 2 in the NES version. Fantastic!

  • the boss of level 2 is suppose to be Schwarzennegger not Andre the giant

  • @Metalstryke Yeah Arnold is better than that fat ass giant

  • the big dude at the beginning of level one is called Ohara

  • Comment removed

  • 0:44 Pikachu!!!

  • This game came out in 1988. That's waht you call old school.

  • @xxpandamidknightxx old school, loved this game and wonder boy

  • Is the spin kick in this game the equivalent of the elbow smash in the 1st one?

  • Comment removed

  • I think level 2 boss was based on Andre the Giant.

  • classic

  • controls were bloody awful on this game, which ruined it. If they'd kept the moves the same it could of been great. If it aint broke dont fix it...

  • this is one of those rare cases where the NES port (which was actually rebuilt from the ground up) is superior to the arcade "original". if you pay close attention the the level layouts, you'll see that DD2 is the same game as DD1.

  • Hmmm... They have a heavily armed gunship in what I assume is their home but they rather go and play paddy whacker with the entire neigborhood? That makes 1980's sense.

  • holy F, they KILL his girlfriend and he has an attack helicopter on his garage. BADASS.

  • @AlegreFranz What kind of bad motherfuckin gang is this?

  • @AlegreFranz

Haha you're right, I never thought about the attack helicopter when I played this back in the 80s

  • @AlegreFranz

You bet! Games of the late 80's and early 90's were so great to play as a kid. I miss the arcades :(

  • @AlegreFranz Little trivia: That's the helicopter from my favorite lasergame of all time: COBRA COMMAND

  • Anyone else realize Double Dragon 2 is just a reskinned Double Dragon 1?

  • @michiyoyoshiku Gee, I thought I was only one of a few! Thanks.

  • @yubnub1

Especally missions 2 and 4 they're like 1 to 1 identical. The NES 2 is far superior

  • I can hardly beleive she gets SHOT at the beginning! That would hardly pass now.

  • Dang! The rolling demo is horrible. See how Billy and Jimmy are getting their ass kicked @_@! That's not a way to demonstrate a game?

  • wow, these guys gotta stop leaving Marion outside the garage.

  • 4:32.....Keven Nash?

  • good sequel but horrible laggy and a bit tough. It's super re-hashy but i liked it

  • I grew up playing double dragon,I never get tired of it.

  • @IceCream2008 me neither

  • U play like shit u idiots

  • They are reusing the stages from 1???

  • The begining is just not more depressive than the ending.

  • @Eredora Derp your mother!!! But what's weputa mean?

  • @Eredora Derp, arcade. But it's also available for NES. That's the best version.

  • Did any one notice this? The NES version of DD2's first level music is the DD2 Arcade's second level music, and vice versa!

  • 1:08 Jeff WINS!!

  • man... i loved this game when little!

  • love it. thanks for uploading

  • que vontade de arrebentar o metranca!

  • Was that Kenny Loggins?

  • haha men listen the opening music ohhh is a melody to my ears! hahaha! <3

  • Around 4:48, a good trick is to go back over to the left & stand still when the girl appears. She lobs the grenade, it lands in the middle &, as she walks toward you, it blows HER up.

  • 5:19 lol they almost own you! ^_^

  • Is there a Double Dragon 3 Arcade out ?

  • @keijimuto yeah but it sucks

  • BRASIL!!! Saudade desse jogo incrível, ficava horas jogando na rua.

  • Nothing like keeping the graphics and gameplay like the original... LOL! I rather play this arcade version of Double Dragon 2 than the NES port. I would give my reasons why, but I'm sure you can figure that out for yourself.. lol

  • Wow, NES port was just sad compared to the arcade version...

  • are they the same two as the first game? I thought one of them had to die at the end of it..who's the guy in white? .. a lot of questions, I know.. but I only knew about the NIntendo sequel that was all fucked up

  • The funny thing about watching this, is when I played it in the arcade as a kid there was no music. I always thought that the programmers were so in a rush that they forget to put music in

  • Obviously the guy don't know how to play a game

  • hai hai hai, hoocha!!

  • this brings back memories from WAAAYYY back. WOW

  • Billy and Jimmy were equal opportunity ass kickers.

  • damn he straight bucked her 3 times..LoL he wasnt fuckin around this time around Lol..& damn since part 1 Billy & Jimmy have been ballin large in the projects..they got the heli pad on the roof..

  • Some of the best music and sound effects in any fighting game.

  • @Calbenmike

You mean Side Scrolling beat em up. Fighting game is 1 on 1 or 4 on 4 or....1 v1 v1 v1 in a round format

  • i wonder how this game would be if they brought it out on the PS3 or XBOX360 ?

  • Ö.ö

at 2:00 he did roundhousekicked chuck norris

  • Best theme ever

  • I just don't see how the nintendo version could be better than this hurricane kick or not . Double Dragon has 3 buttons not 2 ! :P

  • @NWNisFUN There are WAY too many uneducated NES fan boys who think Double Dragon was actually good on the NES

  • @ojideagu That , there are my friend , well said .

  • @ojideagu That's because Double Dragon WAS great on the nes.

  • @shadowboss3 If you were 5 years old

  • @ojideagu

Maybe a 5 year old could enjoy it, but I doubt they could beat it.

I enjoy the NES one more than the arcade simply because it provides a better challenge, doesn't slow down as much, and has the super knee.

It's worth asking if you have beaten both versions, which I think is necessary to really say which one is more fun.

  • @arronmunroe It's about feel, the arcade feels solid like you are actually fighting. The NES feels like badly drawn paper characters. Who cares if the NES is harder or not if it feels like ass to play.

  • @ojideagu

The fact is, the NES one isn't about punching and kicking, I usually play the game on just the hurricane kick, super knee, and uppercut. I'll admit, it doesn't "feel" like a good beat em up, yet I still enjoy the gameplay anyways, since I don't consider it to be a beat em up in the traditional sense. As for this game, it gets VERY slow from too many bad guys, and I don't really appreciate the combat system much anyways. If I want to play a good beat em up, I'll play Streets of Rage 2.

  • @ojideagu Hey, since most people hail the NES version of Double Dragon is the best, I want to ask you something how do you feel about the NES Ninja Gaiden series being better that the arcade version?

  • @yubnub1 LOL most people hail the NES as the best, says who?

I have one simple question for you, what versions did Nintendo base Double Dragon for the GBA on?

Oh OH....It was the Arcade versions. What a surprise!

No magazines hailed the NES version as the best in any shape or form. Only NES fan boys who didn't grow up with the arcade do. I grew up when these games when they came out and trust me, the Arcade Double Dragon 1 was seen as a mega hit worldwide and was ported to EVERY games machine

  • @ojideagu You said that before and how do you know that they didn't hail the NES version as the best? Did you read all the game magazines? Oh, I believe I said this before, when they made the GBA they did base the game off of the arcade version of the first Double Dragon, that is a given. But, they did adapted properties from both arcade and NES versions of Double Dragon II, Super Double Dragon, DDIII, and Renegade.

  • Comment removed

  • @ojideagu Oh, and one more thing, some of us "NES fanboys" actually did grow up with the arcade. It's just that some of us enjoyed playing games whatever the hell versions they were. NES, Atari, or arcade, some of us just see a game. But, as for as DDII goes the NES is the best!!

Did you ever truly analyze both games or did you just say, "This is the arcade version, it is the best because it is the arcade version"?

  • @yubnub1 I own most major consoles since the 80's, and the NES versions were shit compared to the arcade.

Double Dragon 2 for the arcade was a let down in terms of it being repackaged DD1. That's the only thing the NES version has over it.

  • @ojideagu They weren't that bad. I wonder have you played Double Dragon III, the arcade version? Now, that game was the let down even more so than the NES versions which were very good. DDIII arcade version was a real piece of shit in the whole series. As for the NES, The arcade version being re-papered wasn't the only thing the NES version had over it. The NES version had moves, a story, more enemies, more traps, a cool final boss, and a hell of an ending!

  • @yubnub1 I had Double Dragon on the original Game boy because I loved the arcade so much as a kid.

I enjoyed the game but it was never close to what I wanted. It was more like a platform game.

I like the ending music of Double Dragon 2 on the NES. But it's not what I wanted

in terms of a beatemup. It was more like a platformer. Anyway I'm a Streets of Rage 2 and Final Fight guy.

  • @ojideagu That is cool. I like Final Fight.

  • @ojideagu Oh, also, answer this, when Capcom released Bionic Commando 2009 and Bionic Commando Rearmed, which version of Bionic Commando did they based those games on, arcade or NES?

And it was Million that released Double Dragon Advance for the GBA not Nintendo, it was only lisenced to Nintendo.

  • @yubnub1

    Rearmed

  • @ojideagu

Nintendo didn't make the GBA version

    Argument void

  • @michiyoyoshiku Nintendo allowed it to be created for their system and approved it. So not void.

  • @ojideagu Double Dragon 1 and 2 are better on the NES. The only thing the first game lacked was the Co-Op which wasn't a big deal.

  • @JuicyPlayer You are in the minority, Double Dragon was a hit BECAUSE of the arcade. Why do you think it was ported to every game system on earth? The NES games are babyish nonsense for 5 year olds.

  • Comment removed

  • @JuicyPlayer Which version did Nintendo choose to port to the Game boy Advance? The ARCADE version. Case closed.

  • @ojideagu The GBA version was beyond the Arcade version since they added more levels and added the NES moves like the super knee and super uppercut. Also i'm not denying that the Arcade version wasn't a hit but the NES version improved on the Arcade version in every way other then the larger graphics which the Arcade version itself couldn't handle since there was so much slow down.

  • @JuicyPlayer I grew up with Double Dragon in the arcade, It is a classic. I played it when it came out. I detested the NES versions. A very pale immitation. Next you will be saying Nes Ninja Turtles and Street Fighter were better then the Arcade.

  • @ojideagu No, actually i don't like the NES version of the Turtles Arcade game , it was a watered down port with all the moves gimped and the extra 2 levels didn't really add anything other than to drag the game further. Street Fighter didn't get good console ports until the Saturn arrived , the SNES did it some justice but it wasn't all the way there yet.

  • @ojideagu You just don't get it.

  • Comment removed

  • Comment removed

  • @ojideagu uh huh, but they didn't forget about the NES version of DD I & II and Super Double Dragon

  • @yubnub1 Well also Double Dragon 3 arcade is in it too. But most of the game is Arcade DD1

  • @ojideagu well when it was on Sega consoles it wasn't all that hot.

  • @yubnub1 I never said it was! But the megadrive/genesis version was closest to the arcade. Although I found it average.

  • @ojideagu I don't know who you think you are calling somebody uneducated but, if liking a particular version of a game over the arcade version is wrong then, I don't want to be right.

  • Comment removed

  • I played this in the Arcade back in the day and thought the NES version of DD2 was better , it had more content and more better designed levels.

  • Legendary Arcade Version , was a game we used to spend all our quarters on in the late 80's . My father was in the Army and all the Soldier and Kids in the local town by the Base used to flock to the Arcades to chill. Good Stuff. Needs to be included in Xbox Live Library , & Playstation Online Catalog

  • My memory of the arcade version is a bit fuzzy. Did it slow down this bad, or does mame just have trouble emulating it?

  • I like the NES one alot more.

  • @Chryan its the first time I came across a game that was better on a console (nes) rather than the arcade.

  • @Tomsthumb Wrong

  • @ojideagu hehe =), kinda knew some1 was gona say that. but hey their both great, maybe I chose thenes version because it reminded me of when I gvot my first one at chrimbo all those years ago. I would't turn down a DD2 cabint tho, tat woud be well sweet!.

  • they made the blood color into WHITE. wtf! i guess they were worried about video games being too violent. if you are going to knife someone, it is already a violent act. does the color, from white to red, mean that it is not violent anymore? reminds me of backwards nintendo thinking in its days of mortal kombat censorship on the super nintendo. at 4:30, we see brutus the barber beefcake mixed with stallone.

  • So instead of kidnapping her, this time the gang just decide to shoot the crap out of Billy's girlfriend. Wow, these guys sure don't mess around. I think it's time for some good ol' fashion revenge!

  • This one is no doubt one of the best ever Double Dragon games, and is my favorite D.D. arcade game. I actually have the machine to this game, and I use it as my Jamma cabinet too, which I have a lot of other arcade games for. It is kind of strange in a way, that this version is pretty much a virtual remake of the original D.D. arcade game, though.

  • ROFL! Crud, those girls can hit! And very cool to see the arcade version.

  • wow..havant seen this one in ages..its all coming back to me! this one seemed to be way less available than the first one

  • Good playing. I see you know all the secrets and tactics to kill the enemy easily or make them kill themselves! lol

  • I fucking loved this game! It was the first fighting game I got past the third level on without dying, on a Pound's worth of credit.

  • @ScenicShade in your dreams funboy. Keep playing with those stick men.

  • @ojideagu try the pc engine version

  • @ojideagu pc engine version is a remake of the nes version. try it out

Oh is it me or you just hate the NES console period?

  • @ScenicShade I can't be bothered anymore

  • @ScenicShade Find me someone who grew up with the Arcade who preferes the NES. They don't exist. All i see is ignorant funboys on NES double dragon videos.

  • @ojideagu Ya got one right here! I played both but, I like the NES version better.

  • @yubnub1 I doubt you grew up with the arcade first. Another NES fanboy

  • @ojideagu It's no doubt. I have played DD2 Arcade game at a Midway's Aladdin's Castle Arcade that was formerly located at the St. Clair Square in Fairview Heights, Illinois back in 1989 & 1990. It was mostly found in the back of the arcade. I played the game and beat it.

  • @ojideagu Also at that time, I might have agreed with you about the graphics and music because they are better than the NES version. But, we are looking at a big arcade machine that manage one game and can occupy hundreds of bits compared to an a machine that can manage several games but has only eight bits to work with and still does a very good job.

  • @ojideagu However, I today look at more that just graphics and music because, I look at control and gameplay as well. To me game can look as old as Atari 2600 so long as it has good gameplay. As much as you hate on NES players, I bet there was at least one time in your life that you actually played and liked a NES game. The arcade version could never top the NES version.

  • @yubnub1 Double Dragon 1 is one of the biggest arcade games of all time and paved the way for Final Fight and Streets of rage, you name it. Why do you think there were so many versions for every home console and computer? Because it was a smash hit and had fantastic gameplay. I'm sure you would say Street Fighter 2 for the Nes was better then the arcade too.

  • @ojideagu Yes, DD1 was the top of the heap and made a way for other fighting games. Some home versions were good and some were bad. I still play the NES version of Double Dragon and the Atari 2600 & 7800 versions in spite of how bad people said they were. And for your information, Street Fighter II came out for the SNES not the NES and it was nearly arcade perfect.

  • @yubnub1 The vast majority of people who grew up with the arcade when it was released wouldn't piss on the NES versions.

  • @ojideagu I wouldn't either. In your last comment you mentioned Street Fighter II. SFII wasn't perfect I agree to that but still it was fun. If you had been I my position where you could only go to an arcade every other weekend growing up you would thank your lucky stars you had a console game system to play when you couldn't go to the mall.

  • Comment removed

  • @yubnub1 I owned most home consoles. But the arcades were the holy grail of gaming in the 80's and early 1990's. Consoles were the best we had, an immitation of what we dreamed of, the arcade games. However at least people now have consoles that have superior games to arcades. By the way I never liked the NES aside from Mario. Nintendo were going to use a 16 bit chip at the time but the cost was too high so we got short changed.

  • @ojideagu arcades were the holy grail! Kids dont know what their missing! I remember feeling like a total cool cat at the arcades with rocking tunes, hanging with my buds! Line the quarters up!

  • @yubnub1 By the way I don't hate Nintendo, I loved the Gameboy, which was virtually the same power as the NES (proving how dated the NES was)

And I loved the Snes. The NES was WAY past its sell by date compared to the 1987 PC Engine and Megadrive, despite nintendo still peddeling it out into the 90's. The Snes should have been created 2-3 years earlier.
