this album never seems to date. It stands outside the expected norm and delivers an incredible feeling of joy. Outstanding and very brave for that band and it's leader back in 73!
@freein2339 Without a doubt, Santana was way ahead of his time, and what I like about this is that the songs are deep, but beautiful. You can be deep, but have beautiful melodies, and Michael Shrieve's drumming is out of this world. You won't hear music like this. This was a different time and place. Thank you for YOU people who recognize this, and because you had people who didn't like this album.
@ gooneybird47: My sentiments also (creative peak). This track comes to mind when I'm not thinking of this track., I mean when I feel like singing because I'm alone.., Now IF ONLY I KNEW THE EXACT WORDS!!
I discovered Richard Kermode way too late - on a live performance of Malo's Suavecito (I mean recorded live, and seen on You Tube)...Since then I look for his name on anything. What a talented and unique pianist...
Another great but somewhat forgotten album, along with Caravanserai. This is when Santana were at their creative peak (in my opinion). I still have my original copy that I purchased in '73 from from S.Klein's in West Hempstead (long gone) Yeah,I know...I'm old !!
Not THAT old...As someone told me recently, good music is good music, no matter how old it is - and/or how old or young the listener/appreciator is...
I knew that. You and I and others who are "older" have a certain cache that goes with it...you know? We were there - at places like Woodstock, when the Beatles hit the U.S., etc. (well, even if not physically "there", we were alive and well and remember the events as they happened.!!
just amazing.

This is very true....I meant that "old" comment to be kind of "tongue-in -cheek".
