Actually it DOES matter. You don't need a class in linguistics to know people and history. Look,I can understand why gays are offended, because now, it's commonly used to mean homosexual. But just 50 years ago, the word commonly meant 'happy'. Words mean whatever you want them to mean. I think what they are trying to say is that people are saying gay as a bad thing. I dont know what its like in other places but in Australia when something goes wrong or something is ugly etc. People have a habbit of saying "thats so gay". Which isnt exactly nice to us gays, its degrading it makes us feel wrong and ugly. Sure the word can be said just not in those ways and I think thats what this video is meant to symbolise.
