  • Wow!Did he get the oscar for this?!

  • @niloh96 Nope, it was for Philadelphia

  • He is awesome! Meeting Bruce Springsteen would be awesome!

  • He should have been an actor as well

  • I want to see bruce in the movies

  • what i want to know is why he's playing the blues! seems like a bit of misrepresentation to me, especially since plenty of people who've seen this movie (i'm willing to bet) aren't too familiar with his music

  • @MrFatmaninbearsuit Apparently you aren't too familiar with Bruce. He plays quite a bit of blues in his songs. Have you heard A Night with the Jersey Devil or Valentine's Day? A lot of his songs are blues based.

  • @UseMeAbuseMe4Ever I've only heard a handful of songs Bruce has done that could be considered bluesy, Valentine's Day included. I'm just surprised because I feel like Bruce is most well-known for his poppy piano-driven stuff with the E Street Band, which is more influenced by Roy Orbison and the Beatles than blues music or traditional rock n roll. And even when he's just strumming an acoustic guitar it's usually not blues-sounding but folky, like Woody Guthrie or Pete Seeger.

  • @MrFatmaninbearsuit Yes, you would be correct about the poppy-piano stuff at least commercially, but the deeper you dig the more you realize that he has many types of music that are his influences. But you are very correct when you say Roy Orbison and the Beatles. I believe those to be a major influence for him, but he has rarely let the standards get in his way of making some really great music otherwise. Check out some more B-sides and you might be quite surprised. Enjoy!

  • @MrFatmaninbearsuit Any rock and roll guy needs to know blues. It's where the music came from. That's why bands right now don't sound like the guys in the 60's and 70's, they liked rock and roll, then out came blink 182 and fall out boy (i'm not comparing the two). But if you want to hear blues based Springsteen, search for "springsteen seeds hyde park" and "reason to believe magic tour".

  • if only bruce springsteen could appear in my bedroom when i needed some advice

  • LIKE A BOSS

  • too bad springsteen doesn't do songs that sound like that

  • @bustedup The closest he's done to something like that is Night Of The Jersey Devil. It's not on any album (he recorded it for a Halloween thing)...just Google for it...it's not on youtube either, but it's in other places :)

  • holy shit he reminds me of Harvey Keitel!

  • LIKE SHOULDERPADS

  • this is my favourite scene in a movie of all time

  • one of the all-time greatest cameos ever!

  • But I'm self employed...

  • @Zimmerframez Win.

  • Boss of what? He's not the boss of me!

  • @Zimmerframez Yes he is, you just don't know it yet.

  • @Uzzie101 lol

  • @Zimmerframez you sound like a bitch

  • @TheFashionbugs

    You sound like an asshole

  • @TheFashionbugs you snivelling brit

  • @Zimmerframez

He isn't the boss of anything, he's just The Boss. Bruce himself has stated he doesn't like the whole idea of bosses deciding things for other people, which is why he initially didn't appreciate the title given to him, but since the meaning of his title is different from that of a typical boss at work, he now likes it.

Think more a boss in a video game, he's big in the sense that he's powerful at what he does (which is music). :)

  • @Luthicwoot Actually he got the title "The Boss" because he used to divy up the band's pay at the end of the night whenever they were finished playing a gig. No more no less.

  • so what's the song?

  • Tom Hanks, Boss!

  • Instead of Springsteen,it was originally Bob Dylan who would made that cameo. In my opinion, the dialogue would make more sense if it was Dylan =D

  • @GinGuilt

Aww... It would have made the movie 100% perfect if it had had Bobby in it!!

  • thanks boss

  • I was at a recored store yesterday and The Backstreet Boys, N Sync, Simple Plan and the Titanic soundtrack were in their rightful places

    The discount cd section

  • He should be in more movies, he is awesome in everything. I'd pay to watch him just stand there.

  • This same kind of thing happens to me, only I'm married so the Boss is telling me to just agree with her so that she'll stop throwing things.

  • It must be fun looking like Bob Dylan and talking to Bruce Springsteen in your head...

  • Bruce Springsteen is DEFINATELY better!

  • Who's better; Springsteen or Jack Johnson?

  • Apples and oranges, one is a genius and a legend, and one is......Jack Johnson.

  • @KleWdSide is that a question? bruce of course

  • This was a good movie, but being a child of the Mary Quant, Carnaby Street, British Invasion....I am still waiting for the UK film of this book!

  • Bruce Rocks!

  • Great film!

  • THE BOSS!

  • Thanks Boss.

  • cusack actually looks like springsteen :P

  • @brandinator22 good call, jackass

  • @bpo87

    huh? shut the fuck up

  • @brandinator22 k brandinator.

  • @bpo87

    dumbass

  • @brandinator22 nice name fool.

  • @bpo87

    thanks, mr t

  • I wish Bruce Springsteen would give me advice about relationships.

  • dido.

    The man is wise.

  • opposition is played up nicely. Find this film free @ MovieWatcher[.]US

  • Bruce #1!

  • how could you not be a fan? hes the working mans hero

  • he fucking defines COOL!!

  • Bruce is sooo cute<3<3 :D

  • He is the boss

  • The best scene in High Fidelity next to the Jack Black/ Stevie Wonder rant.

  • and the cosby sweater :)

  • per mastro...

  • Bruce Helps John Cusack resolve his feelings over his past girlfriends.

  • Bruce is a true landmark in music...if only all musicians could find their way using him as a landmark.

  • You are wrong.

  • Comment removed

  • That was really sexy. Just like the Little bit at the end When John Cusak says "Thanks, Boss". Oh My God

  • ARGH, I wish I'd been born a few years ago... Then I would've been born into a good music-generation who did NOT listen to Britney and Rihanna, and straight into the glory of this sexy, awesome, funny and sweet most talented musician in the world... Ah, well. A few teenage Bruce fans out there hear my call, right? XD

Anyway, thanks for posting this! Did anyone else notice that little Bobby Jean-reference? "Good luck, goodbye..." "Good lucky, goodbye, Bobby Jean."

  • You've just articulated all my feelings! I'm nearly 18, but in school I feel like some out of touch relic when I say I love the Boss! Nice to know that there's some people out there who get what real music is. In fifty years, the trashy, synth lipsync pop that has come to define our generation will be dead and buried, but people will still consider Springsteen as one of the immortals. Peace.

  • i feel exactly the same way im 15 and he is the boss

  • Nah...people still listened to shit back then.

  • Many people forget that what we consider to be "trash music" these years, was what many people considered to be Disco back in the 70s. Maybe in 10 years U.S. Cellular Field can have another Demolition Night, only this time we can throw the Auto-Tune in there with all our records.

  • @papersky1 - I love this comment!

  • @papersky1 i agree, but i would replace "local cd store" with "walmart"

  • @papersky1 So true! the boss is the greatest man alive!

  • i tell u what man, im guessing your american, sorry if im wrong, but im from england and im feeling the same problem and on several occasions have attempted to educate my friends to The Boss often with no luck but we have to keep trying dont we?

  • The Bobby Jean thing is intentional and it's a reference to the chapter of the book related to this scene, where the song title is explicitly cited.

  • I totally agree. As a 17-year-old borderline-obsessed Springsteen fan, I've given up on getting my friends to see the light. Somehow, my best friend was unmoved by Jungleland, which doesn't seem possible.

However, I agree with kyle4thenight: all time periods have their shit music. Time has been kind enough to weed out the old crap for us.

  • exactly my sentiment when it comes to old music as far as time weeding out the crap. and yes your friend is not human and should not be consorted with if he is untoched by jungleland

  • Dude, i'm 21 and my room mates do not understand my love for Springsteen's music. He inspired me to pick it up and I hope to make a career out of it. I understand where you're coming from.

Now, I have no musical ability, the fact that i've gotten good at the guitar is a mystery to me, but the Jungleland sax solo makes we want to learn the horn. I would be blessed if I could write one song half as good, and that song is just one of his many masterpieces.

  • mate, i'm italian, i'm 25 and i'm Bruce's fan since 12 years. And if once I was explaining my love for Bruce to other people, now i've stopped to try it. I think that you can understand Bruce (his music, his words) right now or never. So don't worry if your room mates dont understand your love for Bruce, they will NEVER understand

  • Yeah, but I feel like I should at least try you know? I see a kind of nobility in his music that my friends would benefit from. His not a guy that's out there trying to get famous, he's a guy out there that loves music, and has his own ideas about the way things should be, and he uses music to describe that. I see his message in his music, and it frustrates me that my friends just think I'm a fanatic and can't see that there is a nobility in his music that isn't in current music

  • @trapnextone KEEP GOING!!!

  • Thanks for the songs Boss. They're so achingly beautiful that they both break and heal my heart. One of the last soldiers in the fight for real music.

  • BRUCE!!! Bruce is the man!!!

  • thanks Boss

  • Bruce Springsteen is so talented! He sings and plays his instruments very well, he's kind, nice, sweet and gorgeous and he can act! I LOVE YOU BOSS<333

  • you tell em girl! You've got that right, especially the gorgeous part. . .

  • he's got the whole package! :D

  • I love this movie and book!

  • watch awesome tibetan guitarist (from switzerland?!), he will blow you away! just look for "purtag" (his name)

  • haha thats great!

    that made my day!!

  • *merci

  • cusack & springsteen.. best combo ever... best movie ever seen

  • I absolutely LOVE this movie! John Cusack is just a fab actor and well Bruce...not only can he write, compose and sing but he also gives good advice, doesn't he?

  • buena

  • how awesome is that? Bruce is a legend. I think the part is so appropriate, its not like he's selling anything. Hail to the Boss!

  • Thanks, boss! :D

  • one of my favorite movies, and my two greatest loves - springsteen and cusack. could it be better?

  • im not even a big springsteen fan but that was one fantastic cameo

  • Great movie and that was the best part. Caught me by surprise.

  • I can't believe Springsteen agreed to be in a movie. He never does that kind of stuff. Not even commercials!

  • but it's soooo perfect.. he's not selling anything

    nothing to disgrace his image

this is a movie about a guy who owns a record store so him talking to bruce springsteen in a day dream fits

  • I agree - perfect moment. It's a Woody Allen "Play it Again, Sam" type moment, where your all-time hero gives you advice, though in this case it isn't an actor playing the hero - IT ACTUALLY IS THE HERO! Awesome moment.

  • Springsteen is incredible. I saw him twice this tour :)

  • I talk like this to boss everyday. -thanks boss.

  • Love that movie, love that scene, love John Cusack, love Bruce Sringsteen! And i'm probably the only 16yearold in my scoole that even knows who the Boss is!

  • Hey, I'm 13, and just saw Bruce in concert about a month ago(Freaking amazing) don't let your age get in the way of good music! :)

  • Wow,hey i'm jelous,i wish i could see him too! It's nice to know that some kids my age have good taste in music now days!

  • Springsteen should have received an Oscar nomination. I'm still mad that he was snubbed.

  • Thats nice song bruce springsteen is playing!!Do anyone know which song is this?I have just seen the movie and is awesome...

  • What movie is it? I've never seen this before, or heard about it

  • High Fidelity

  • yeah, once you see the movie you'll realize his bit was totally worth it.

  • man......he just layed that tune dowm. THE BOSS

    !!

  • Brude SPringsteen is the single sexiest man on the planet. If we ever had to select a single representative for the human race, he would be my vote.

  • Cusak : I want more, I wana see the others on the top 5. Charlie, Sara, all of them, ya know, just see and talk to them. Just like a Bruce springsteen song

Bruce : call , ask them how they are. see if they've forgiven you

  • Please, is there anybody who can post the lines?

For not american people is not easy understand what they are saying.

    Maaaany thanks. ;-p

  • VERY NICE!!also in italian language sounds good!

  • "Thank's Boss"

  • one of the greatest random celebrity cameos ever in a movie, rivaled only by Brett Favres "I'm in town to play the Dolphins, Dumbass" line in Theres Something About Mary. I love this movie so much

  • lmao i cant believe i found this on here, i love that part in the movie

  • Love the Boss, Love Cusack, and absolutely loved Nick Hornby's novel High Fidelity. Thanks for the post, terilip. And you're right PJ, the best ever cameo.

  • You sick pervert. How can you talk about your own mother like that?!

  • and that's why he's the f**king BOSS

  • Definitely!

  • cusack could easily play springsteen

  • "thanks boss" was the best XD

  • what is the riff bruce playing there? is it from any of his song?

  • I doubt it, I think it's just a random blues lick he's playing.

  • This might be the very best scene in the history of cinema...I mean John Cusack + The Boss = The coolest thing ever.

  • i love john cusack!!!

  • LOVE IT!!!!!!

  • LOVE IT!!!!!!!!
