Fox News did to an unacknowledged niche market what Clear channel did for the AM radio venue...and after legislation made it legal for media monopolies to exist. Fox bid low and set barriers to entry for competitors that try the same model.

@Naty1616 Fox is the most popular news channel here in the US because those on the distantly far right agree with it's views, and those more to the middle and left of find it entertainingly comical. If you lived in the US, no matter what your views are on the enviro, politics, etc, you'd watch it occasionally too. We don't have an equivalent of the BBC here unfortunately. PBS has several very good programs, but it doesn't compete with private programming.

@xthatfatguyx I think Fox actually gets broadcast in Britain, cause Murdoch owns a chunk of the cable there as well. Something like the networks nightly news or the news shows on PBS don't get transmitted so the less crap stuff never makes it over there.

And it's also the most watched news channel over there, and while viewership for other networks has been declining, fox news viewership has been increasing.
