I love how this song paints a very dark and sadistic picture of Santa Claus. Speaks volumes of truth though. Power is always abused.

Unbelievable how every song they have they manage to sound upbeat and pretty cheery, and on the surface the lyric sounds pretty light, but with typically such dark, deep lyrics and all the while they manage to keep a beat that doesn't belie the true tone behind the lyric and atmosphere of the songs.

This song especially is a great example of how it sounds upbeat on the surface, but with such a darker intention and managing to maintain an extremely appropriate beat to suit that ulterior effect.

The song operates on multiple levels, not only about when a child learns that Santa is fake and the child fantasy evaporates but also that when they grow up, they will have to work as hard as "Santa's reindeer" in a meaningless job forced to dedicate oneself the point of slavery for money, "this must be the last house".

Santa's helpers are a metaphor for the history of animals used for farming during a time when humans needed animals vs. now when humans exploit and destroy them.
