  • Anyone who HATES wolves must be STUPID or at least never saw how a wolf lives in any place I only love wolves because that are smarter than humans, brave, and have the howl that shows that they are not afraid people who have the spirit of any type wolf has the personality of that type of wolf

  • My parents recently bought a cottage near Algonquin Park, we often hear wolves up there and just this weekend we saw their tracks in the snow about 10 minutes walk from the cottage. We haven’t seen them yet, but our neighbours have.

  • My only anger towards wolves and bears is their devastating end effect on the moose population when their numbers are up.

Sadly, I've seen first hand a black bear stalk a pregnant cow and immediately run off with the calf after she gives birth. I've heard wolves do the same at times, but that's nature I guess.

  • @paulsballsify - yes, it is nature, and unfortunately people have become used to artifically high (and environmentally damaging) populations of herbivores and then worry when predators bringing them down to more natural levels. Wolves and moose worked it out for themselves for millennia by themselves, and will continue to do so.

  • @Sittingfox i thought the herbivores are lower now than they were a few hundred years ago.

  • @shubroto81 - are you taking about populations? If so, white-tailed deer are at record levels in the east, and overpopulations of elk have caused substantial environmental damage in the Rockies, as have red deer in Scotland. Their numbers increased due to lack of predators, habitat alteration and (in some cases) artifical feeding.

  • @Sittingfox yea populationwise i meant in the 1700s when the native americans lived the herbivores were much more numerous wern't they? i know buffaloes or bisons were more numerous despite having much more predators back then.

  • @paulsballsify ok your anger towards them?

how about their anger towards us, humans have ruined many ecosystems and could care less about wildlife

your complaining about nature and the food chain

    get lost you scrub

  • @Bubblehealer You are the perfect example of why an adult conversation cannot occur on Youtube. I'm sorry you couldn't deduce "anger" in this context meant "I just don't like that they stalk and kill the offspring of moose." It has nothing to do with humans, and I'm against the hunting of wolves.

Even my other comment is about how awesome they are and why people shouldn't worry about them.

You'll probably misunderstand this comment too, so why bother I guess.

  • @paulsballsify and here we go with the I am an adult and you are just a little kid speech

we have all heard it before

I was just stating that you can be angry about nature or just accept it an realize that if you mess with it, things are not going to go over well

you came across in a very angry tone

and seriously dude, an adult conversation on youtube? not even sure what that is referring to

  • I don't know why anyone would fear wolves...aside from the rare at death's door wolf, they wouldn't come anywhere near humans or dogs.

I hear them howling outside at night sometimes (timberwolves). I've seen some brush wolves tracks, but never actually seen them...they hide pretty well.

On the other hand I have seen one lone timberwolf crossing the lake I live on in the dead of winter.

  • I've actually seen a wolf where I work (M.I.C) short for Made In Canada, restaurant. There's a forest behind there and a wolf was standing on top of a hill looking down it was breath taking! Amazing creatures. Now they took down the forest to build an American hotel chain... the Marriot... angry, I am very angry.

  • @XxquickpenxX You have the right to be angry and the wolf as well. They destroyed the poor wolves home =(

  • @TaraInDaHood Ya we haven't seen it around anymore and on the news that annouced that there was a wolf killed in New Sudbury... it's aggravating to see such beautiful and intellegent creatures treated like waste. Its a shame that people can't see the beauty of them. All they see is those attacks they show on TV and how wolves should be feared. I think they should be treated with respect, after all these creatures we're here before us.

  • @XxquickpenxX Oh no! That's terrible the wolf didn't do anything! The humans did, by destroying it's home. ='( And i agree they need to be respected.

  • I really want to see real wolves but people are killing them :(

  • This is fantastic footage! I saw one back in 2006 in the rockies. Last October I travelled all the way (from Holland) to Yellowstone to see them... and didn't :( Next summer I'm back in the Canadian rockies so I'll keep my fingers crossed ;) What a fantastic animal!!

  • i wish i could see this in real life

  • beautiful couple. [:

  • Wow...Canada is awsome

  • Peaceful creatures. Got a bad rap so many years ago. Long live the wolves. They truly deserve a better fate.

  • they're beautiful. I hope someday to be a nature photographer, I really hope to get some pictures of wolves someday. :3 where was this?

  • One of the best animals God made!!! :D

  • Hell Sittingfox, great video. Wolves are such interesting animals, and it is so rare to see them in the wild, great footage! You should consider submitting this to the Canada’s Got Treasures collection by joining our YouTube group (/group/TresorTreasure). It would be made available on our channel and website. Help celebrate Canadian diversity!

  • This video looks like it was taken in Banff National Park...Im heading out there this winter to do a University. I am in my last yr and i cant wait to get out there and start tracking and tagging the wolves for our future.

Btw great work with the camera

  • hey man nice vid where in canada was this taken?

  • GO GO WOLVES!!!!

  • beautiful...

  • My favourite animal, they have got such grace......

  • great footage their so peaceful, it's such a nice video

  • i love this so much. Are you a biologist by any chance or did you run upon thease wolves by luck?

  • Well, I've got an ecology degree and spend a vast amount of time looking for wildlife with a camera...but I'm not actually a professional biologist (yet!)

  • wow! thats so amazing. MY future career is to be a wolf ( or wild dog) biologist!

  • Best wishes for that :-)

  • @wolfgirl5210 i want to be a wildlife vet to help theese poor animals

  • thats so cool =) I hope that you become one. maybe we'll cross paths one day!

  • Beautiful, wish I could live in that snowy forest :)

  • Even when it's forty below zero? ;-)

  • Mr. Sittingfox is a lucky hunter. And his other uploads show he does not miss a chance to practice his luck wisely.

  • They are so beautiful. I love Wolves, and I love seeing them living free. Thank you for sharing this with us. :) ^. .^

  • :( I feel so bad for them....I may never see a wolf in my life...ever...

  • Why, feel bad for them, they are only doing what comes naturally, probably do it everyday. Sorry you may never see one, I myself have red wolves in the zoo close to my house. But I have nver seen a grey wolf.

  • Aren't there some recorded sighting of wolves in northern parts of Maine?

  • There have been a couple of probable records, most likely of wolves that have come south from Quebec. You may like to google the Maine Wolf Coalition for more info.

  • when i was 5 years old i saw a timber wolf and its pup in my yard.

  • they are beautiful. one day i will see them and be studying them. i cant wait to watch all these different beautiful animals!

    Go animals!!!

  • Best wishes for that :-)

  • thanks

  • cool. where did you see the wolves?

I saw 5 wolves hunt and kill a deer on a muskoka lake.

  • Hi, I saw these wolves in Jasper National Park. This pack no longer exists, unfortunately; wolves aren't having an easy time in the Rockies.

  • just one question the canadian wolves are the same from the wolves from Yellowston RIGHT?? RIGHT?

  • Wolves don't understand national boundaries ;-) Yes, they're identical.

  • Beautifully said. :3 They only understand pack boundaries. xD

  • YAY! Im glad you're not like the other people that video these beuatiful creatures in zoos. I hate people when the have wild animals as pets. So, good for you!

  • Thanks! :)

  • Very beautiful! You were so lucky to see them and catch it on video.

  • Thanks! It was one of the most amazing sightings that I've ever had. They're such wonderful creatures.

  • Well I am one of those people who have done video of wolves in a zoo. Mexican Grey wolves that are near extinction in the wild and the reintroduction of them is not going very well. If it were not for the zoos and their breeding programs there may not be some of the animals left that we still have today. I also have a video of a wolf sanctuary. The wolves would have been killed if they had not been rescued. So there are good things about zoos and rescues. But I do love seeing them wild.

  • Certainly, the captive breeding programmes have saved the lobo and the red wolf, but if a species *needs* zoos, something has gone catastrophically wrong with its conservation. And unfortunately, the vast majority of wolves in zoos are simply there...because they're there. I agree that as an absolute last resort captive breeding can be necessary, but it's better done in quiet enclosures rather than zoos run for profit, IMHO.

  • But there is one other aspect that is good about zoos. That is education. Species will either thrive or die by the hands of man. I believe people are much more inclined to want to care for creatures when they feel a connection to them. Zoos provide a bonding experience for people that would not ordinarily ever see most of the animals except for on the TV. You are very fortunate to live where you can see them. Most people are not so lucky. :(

  • Although I often travel to Canada, I actually live in a country were wolves have been extinct for several centuries. But almost everyone has *some* local wildlife to get to know! :-) And it's important that people care for the animals right in their own neighbourhood. For education, there are nature blogs, there are museums, there are good TV shows...my honest take is that zoos do little to help the big picture :-/

  • You make many good points. However, sometimes local wildlife is limited to pigeons. LOL Where I live there are many coyotes, javelina, snakes, etc. I am glad to say that I have never heard people say such horrid things to their children in front of an animal exhibit. I do not doubt you though. I am certain that it happens on a daily basis. But in my experience I have seen people wait for half an hour for the Mexican wolves to come into view at the Phoenix Zoo.

  • And while their enclosure can not compare with being wild and free, they do seem to have a good time romping around chasing each other. The Mexican Grey Wolves are one of the most endangered mammals in North America. The reintroduction of them is not doing very well due to poachers and natural causes. Orangutans are another species on the brink of nonexistense in the wild. They might be gone within ten years. :( Something needs to be done to save them.

  • ...feelings based on the following:

    1) the time I've logged standing outside wolf enclosures in zoos listening to all the fathers telling their little kids that the nasty animals in there are scary (!)

    2) a strong belief that giving the impression that a species can survive in an pen that isn't suitable for a dog is unwise

    3) Zoos present species in isolation

    4) Most people don't read the info boards

    5) Wild wolves walk an average 26km per day. Zoos aren't made for them

  • But yeah, I know there are some good wolf sanctuaries for ex-zoo or pet wolves - I've been to one or two.

  • wolves are so beautiful animals... they are my favorite wild dogs...thank u for putting this vid. on here..hope u put more like this one on :)

  • Thanks! I don't have any more wolf footage but I do have a similar video of a family of dholes (Indian wild dogs).

  • Obviously, however, should I happen to see any more wolves I will certainly upload the footage on here! :-)

  • amazing creatures so powerful and graceful its just....wow

  • awesome video, thanks for keeping it real and not adding background music... wolves are my favorite animal, very beautiful animals... hope you can add more video's like this one...

  • Most people like dogs and if you like dogs how can you not respect and admire the wolf? They are the foundation stock of all domestic dogs; magnificent wild canines surviving in the wilderness without any help from man. They are my favorite wild animal.

  • Beautiful, haunting video! I love the silence.

  • Beautiful wolves.

  • outstandingly beaytiful! two thumbs up!

  • Wow this is just the research I need to right my novel!

  • Kinda freaky, because i write books about wolves, and there's a white one who's friends with a black one.... weird...

  • That Looks Like Spitz From Call Of The Wild

  • i am like a wolf expert! arent wolves just amazing in their own way i mean they really inspire me oh i just love wolves :-)

  • bein a first nations i love all animals but yeah wolves and bears are reaaaaally cool... there is something about them... u juz gotta honor them

  • what park?

  • Jasper.

  • I've been meaning to get out there sometime soon.

  • Sadly, this pack no longer exists, but there is still the Signal Mountain Pack and a couple of others in the Athabasca Valley. Highway 16 takes a bad toll, though. Finding wolves is hard but nervous elk are usually a hint!

  • I went to Jasper, had a wolf trot right by our car at about 5am, on our way to Banff.. Was amazing, and soooo close! :D They are truely amazing animals

  • They are so pretty. =3 Thanks for making this!

  • gorgeous thx

  • wolves rock!

  • luv wolves

  • my channel has 3 wolf vids

  • Good hunter have heart and respect for 100% of nature, also for brother wolf ofcourse.

Humans and their prodcts are the dangerous things in the world. Not wild animals, they only appear dangerous to people who forgot how to live with them.

Many many many more casualties/incidents by/with cars and, for example, dogs. Not to mention: alcohol, cigarettes, swimming pools, lakes, boats, chain saws etc. etc. etc.

  • thats pretty cool! I love wolves. If i ever got the oppertuinty to see one up close i'd probably loose all rachinal thought and try to pet it's head. >.>.....

I'm a hunter too, from upstate maine but i wouldn't ever hunt a wolf or any kind of big peditor.

  • That was not aimed at you Thiefgirlanna.

  • Me too!(though i'm in Florida XD)

I love wolves and predators, but love to hunt. I hate it when people describe us as killing machines, when we have a huge respect for nature ^^

  • Well, my cat got mauled by dogs - so obviously I should trap dogs for their pelts! What kind of way to live is this? How typical of the hunting community to whip up unnecessary fear of wildlife in order to justify their actions!

  • To people like him, animals are just items. Its vile.

  • Fuck you.

  • typical ignorance. Do you got coyotes around wherever it is you are? They become a bigger problem with no wolves to drive them away. Also wolves do not approach humans unless they are starving or afflicted with rabies.

  • Yeah that's great, you sicken me you detestable wretched soulless parasite.

  • Yes I agree wolves are beautiful, BUT the flip side is they can be dangerous. We have had many attacks in our area with wolves, black bear and bob cats. If they are hungry enough and you are near their pack, they are not going to walk up and expect you to PET THEM...not in a chance. Beautiful to look at..dangerous to hold.

  • One person's attack is another person's innocent sighting. I saw a cougar while out hiking last week; I'm familiar with large cat behaviour so I wasn't worried, but some people would have unnecessarily freaked out.

Bobcats are no risk at all! And a handful of people have been attacked by wolves, but almost no attacks are about predation. Mostly it's people feeding wolves sausages or whatever. The biggest risks come from elk, bison and deer. Wolves are safe by any reasonable measure.

  • Incidently, I personally disapprove of the practice of keeping wolves and wolf hybrids as pets for several reasons.

  • wolves can be VERY dangerous...cute but dangerous. We live in a part where there are many in the winter. Our friends was riding along one on his snowmobile when the wolf turn and ran towards him biting his LEATHER snowsuit.. lucky he had leather on as those razor sharp teeth bit through the leather!! They get rather big here and run very fast.

  • I've seen many wolves in the wild and never once been threatened by one. They are not dangerous to humans unless habituated to food or rabid.

  • so smart...when the snow gets deep, the deer and elk like to hang and travel via nicely plowed roads.

  • They're smart indeed but they weren't hunting that morning, more patrolling. They were also using a frozen river as a walkway!

  • My dog's wolf/great pyraneese. I love wolves and never want to see them die!

  • Alot of people misunderstand Wolves, I have a dog that is part wolf.

  • great video :]

i have a wolf that was abonded and i adopted it

check out my wolf video :]

  • i wish i had a nice white wolf beutiful animals

  • They are beautiful, but they do belong in the wild ;) I hate seeing wolves in captivity, either as zoo exhibits or as pets.

  • Eco-Tourism = have your cake and eat it too. People are happy and wolves get to live.

  • Yes, ecotourism can do a lot of good, as long as care is taken not to harm the animals through too much disturbance!

  • There is a program run in Idaho and several other places where wolf 'ambassadors' (literally) are taken around schools to educate children about wolves in reality. The kids love it!

  • How close were you?

  • Varied, they were on the road. Last May I saw a white wolf in Jasper about half a mile away, down a straight raod.

  • There was a wolf hunter who was stared at by a wolf he was about to kill. They locked eyes and the man lowered his rifle (the wolf got away), he never killed another wolf ever again. This person is now executive director of the Wolf Education and Research Centre in Idaho.

  • Wolves need to be respected and not killed. Not only because they are beautiful and majestic creatures. But because when they go, everything around them will suffer a tragic end.

  • They hunt wolves year round in Canada, it sickens me to no end. They get fun out of killing things! Urrrh! People who get fun out of killing should have their fingers cut off.

  • The situation is not good especially as ranchers can kill wolves largely as they please. Wolf protection varies from province to province though.

  • Wolves don't deserve the bad rep. placed on them

  • If you like wolves my friend wrote a novel about them! Check it out at straywolfs . blogspot . com

    (No spaces)

  • Lovely pictures. Anyone intrested in literate realistic wolf roleplay, you should check out this site I recently found - stalewolfrpg.hosted-forum. com

  • That was amazing. Thanks so much for posting.

  • i fucking hate people who hunts wolves they kick ass and are beautiful animals and whoever kills them is a sick sick bastard

  • I've come to think that the best way to help wolves is to avoid buying products from the industry that has killed millions of them - namely, sheep and cattle farming. Even where wolves are "protected", they can legally be killed by livestock farmers.

  • Hell yeah!!! Wolves rock!!!

  • Beautiful.

  • Thank God someone is protecting these beautiful animals.

  • Hi, thanks for viewing the wolves :)

I did my university thesis examining wildlife tourism in the Rockies, so it's kind of a hot topic for me. Unfortunately in 2004 Jasper lost seven wolves on the Highway 93, one on the railroad, while eight more were killed by trappers just outside the park. I think the whole management of Parks Canada desperately needs an overhaul. Every person who decides to get out of their car when they see a roadside bear is helping to kill the parks.

  • Interesting. Could you please elaborate more on how people getting out of their cars to see a roadside bear is helping to kill the parks?

  • When bears get too tolerant of people, or worse, are fed, they are considered a safety risk and liable to be shot. Bears are very vulnerable to disturbance - they should be admired from afar ;)

  • Okay, that makes more sense, and I agree.

  • there cute. They look just like my friends wolfdogs. I like the footage. Were you very close to them

  • Hi, glad you enjoyed it :-) We were in a car trying to keep our distance. Wolves are very vulnerable to disturbance so you have to be careful. They've lost a fair amount of habitat in the Canadian Rockies because of disturbance by hikers and tourists.

  • It is Kiba and Blue. Sadly, Blue does die...but Blue and Hige forever!

  • It's OK..they live on in the Spirit world like we do.

  • In one episode...Blue died ain't she?

  • god they're beautiful

  • Thanks, all of you! It was an amazing experience. I've seen a few wild wolves, but never as well as this. It was very special.

  • Awesome footage, awesome to see them in the wild.

  • Nice video

  • amasing

  • Awesome! How close were you to them?

  • It's never advisible to try to get closer than 100m (about ten bus lengths) to wolves, bears or cougars. The camera has a 12x zoom.

  • Oh. Awesome. ^^ You did a really good job capturing them on the camera then. :D I <3 wolves.

  • Heehee. It's Kiba and Blue! Man, I've been watching too much Wolf's Rain...

  • Magnificent... awsome!!

  • Great video ! The scenery is beautiful!

  • I really love wolves! And hey, the black female Wolf is looking as us ;3 great

  • Great footage. Nice job, and great pair of wolves.
