well, im glad sweden broke their 31 year gold medal drought in front of the russians instead of us lol...congrats to the swedes they deserved it, canada was in bad shape to win gold in the first place i have to admit
Hardcore Canadian hockey fan here, while I am disappointed that Canada didn't win, I am happy to see a team like Sweden who plays with class win the gold.
The idiotic thing is that a lot of swedes are finns without knowing it, and the same goes to finns. Finns seem to have forgotten that we were the same people and country for 700 years -.-
Swedish people talkin about Granlund is swedish thats why he is so good. He has nothing to do with sweden. Then someone says that Zibanejads father is from iran and mother is finnish and swedish start to say that it doesnt matter where his family is from just where he has got his talent.
@erdonsa1 This is swedish way to do propaganda. Average swedish man believes everything what is written in Aftonbladet. What we can wait from country, where the King is the biggest joke in the world.
As a Canadian who loves hockey. Congrats to Sweden you deserved it. It is nice to see that hockey is alive and well throughout the world. What fun would it be if only a couple of nations won gold every year. I love the fact that we need to always look at improving our hockey programs. As for bashing one another grow up it is only a game. Go Canada Go! See you next year and this time were bringing our A game. To come to think about it I can't stand the opposing players when I play hockey either.
@enrandigsten Oh, the Swedish troll. Let's go back to the Hockey World Championships. Finland won and celebrated, maybe with a bit over exaggerating way, yes (stamps, 6-1 comments etc.). But now, Sweden does the same? Doesn't that show that Finnish people aren't the only bad losers? e.g. When Mikko Koivu jumped around with the cup, the swedish complained that Mikko was ''putting salt in the wound'' when he actually was showing it to the crowd?
You saw the first match? I saw ... Sweden is not a strong Russia ... good luck on the side of Sweden was the first match 3-4... In the second Russian is not strong enough, they played 4 games per week ... Swedes 3 ...
@UbicaMakaronoF Sweden won their group, qualifying directly to the semi final. Thats the whole point of winning all your games in the tournament, getting an advantage. Russia didn´t. Sweden completly DOMINATED the Russians. and you claim they are not as strong?? hahaha wow.
@UbicaMakaronoF I also watched every game. Do you think you are alone in having watched the whole tournament? They outshot Russia 58 to 16 in the final. they outshot Russia 20 to 0, zero!! in the first half of the first period. in the second 17 to 4!!! Was Sweden stronger? yes, obviously! They completly DOMINATED Russia! did you watch the game??

A lesson to be learned...but I dont think they learned it lol
@Dharane0902 Actually, i have seen interviews with russian players saying that Sweden was better and was very humble and acting great. One guy even said that it would have been unfair for them to win since Sweden dominated to game through the entire match. Last year they behaved like idiots, waving "bye bye" to the swedes after the semi and giving them finger and stuff like that. But this year they was very humble and showing good sportsmanship and even giving the Swedish players hugs. :)
@MrFelixify Yeah Kuznetsov said it would be unfair. I don't mean that they're saying they should've won...but Nikita Gusev and a few other players have said basically Sweden had an easier semi and were well-rested and they weren't. But I think that's incorrect and it's more about the fact they celebrated hard after beating Canada. Gusev even said during the tournament they lost hot water and power and insinuated that Canada "feared Russia" so we cut their power. Sore losers still in my opinion..
Alot of Russian players' and even the coach's interviews are saying Sweden was lucky and Russia didnt have enough energy. This bothers me b/c Sweden played a much more tighter game against Finland whereas Russia coasted past Canada for 40 minutes then had about 10 minutes of a hard game! Sorry Russia, your talent is undeniable but you are ungracious both in winning & losing.

@4everhorseluv That game wasn't "unfair." The Canadian team outshot Russia 2-1 and were still down 6-1. The Canadians didn't capitalize on their chances until it was too late. Lesson learned for next year. Don't be a homer just because we lost.
Sweden deserved that so much if you looks at the shot totals but seriously Russia your goalie makes 57 saves, the least you could do his score him one measly goal

Congrats to Sweden! The U.S. hardly placed, though we fell apart, and lost to Russia,we still took Bronze,And team Sweden who hasnt won gold in 31yrs beat Russia,in a epic OT win!! Yupp, its like we (Candians) won the world jrs! :) - With respect haha
Thank you Canada for your support during the final! It was fantastic and all the players that they interviewed talked about how amazing it was to have your support during the game.
@TomShootsPhoto I dont know if you have notice, but we live in a world where people from other countries meet, maybe even fall in love. Mika´s father is from Iran, he met a girl from Finland in Sweden.they settled got children and lived in Stockholm since.Mika is born in Sweden, and like many thousands of other Swedes have parents that moved here from other countries.what some people dont get is that this is something most Swedes are very proud of.A great multicultural society. Zlatan and Mika:)
@MrFelixify I know, if you would've taken your time and scrolled trough some of my comments, you see that i know that. The problem is that Sweden is racially insensitive, being that sweds can't make a difference between immigrant and immigrant. If a talented immigrant comes along, he becomes swedish directly. Thats the problem. Not that they won.
@TomShootsPhoto "If a talented immigrant comes along, he becomes swedish directly."
No, being born in Sweden, lived here his whole life, having parents who both are Swedish citizens (although from other countries) makes him Swedish. He is not a immigrant, his father was. I dont think any sane person would say that he¨s not Swedish even if he not would have become a hockeystar. (Continue)
But i guess your problem is that he¨s background not being acknowledged. But it is. Swedens largest broadcaster had ex player and commentator Mikael Renberg in the studio talking about his brackground and that he can become the hockey version of Zlatan, a kid with a different cultural backround and becoming a rolemodel for kids having the same or simmular background. We could call him a swedish borned Swede with Iranian / Finnish background. But i just assume everyone knows about it so im not.
@MrFelixify He is not Swedish, and you can't ignore that. Just because he was born and raised here doesn't make him swedish. It would've been better if Karlsson did the goal, because than real sweds scored it. Congratz anyway, but it's not really their medal.
@TomShootsPhoto "He is not Swedish, and you can't ignore that. Just because he was born and raised here doesn't make him swedish." This is one of the most moronic things i have ever heard! Is it about bloodlines and shit? who gets to call himself a Swede? and how far back do we have to go in our family tree? My ancestors are Walloons that came to Sweden in 1600. Am i a "real" Swede? "but it's not really their medal." Ok, so whos medal is it? Irans or Finnlands? (continue)
@MrFelixify He himself identifies as Swedish, He has a passport, citizenship, born and raised, played hockey here his whole life, speaks without any accent, both parents Swedish citizens. I dont know how more Swedish you can get. He is not Swedish because he was born and raised here?? " It would've been better if Karlsson did the goal, because than real sweds scored it" A "real" Swede?? what tha hell is a "real" Swede? Man, you sure have some nazi like view of bloodlines and "race".
@MrFelixify I moved to Sweden when I was 8,(Gävle).Today,I still live in Sweden and try to fit in the best as possible.I was born in London, my mother is a doctor and my father is a physicist. And yet, still today,I am compared to the Ethiopians with AIDS,HIV just because I am an immigrant. Can't get a job, because I am not a "real" swede. You can't make a difference between immigrant and immigrant.I am constantly called "blatte" or "invadrare" every day. But still,I have a PhD in particle physics.
@TomShootsPhoto A Britt being called blatte and is compared to Ethiopians? ok. So you took your PhD in Sweden, are a Brittish citizen and can´t get a job because they see you as a immigrant? Racism is a problem for sure. It exists all over the world. But Britts is not exactly the ones racist people having a problem with. These days arab muslims is the ones that generally is being descriminated against. But a majority of Swedes are positive to immigration and giving refuge to asylum seekers.
@MrFelixify I know what people are discriminated. I just compared myself to everyone else, and shared my experiences. Why? Because they are reliable and true. And I have met SOME Sweds that are positive forward immigrants. But you have to agree, that the majority in Sweden aren't so happy that there are many immigrants. I am a Swedish citizen. [See next post]
@TomShootsPhoto None of us are going to win this argument, we could fight for hours. And really, I don't have a right to fight against your country, because it's not mine. I don't consider myself swedish. So go, think what you want. Some of you, are really an "åsiktstaliban". Have a good life.
@TomShootsPhoto " I don't have a right to fight against your country, because it's not mine. I don't consider myself swedish." That says is all really. Us and them mentality never gets you far in life. And you complain that you are not being accepted in the society you live in? its your own view that at foult here. "But you have to agree, that the majority in Sweden aren't so happy that there are many immigrants." No i dont agree, and neither do statistics, MAJORITY of Swedes are positive to it
Ehm just to let you know, most people here are not pro-multiculturalism, It has simply been forced upon us. There have been no elections whatsoever if we should accept immigrants or not, which they have in Denmark & Norway. Countries where the majority of the people have voted against immigration. I guess the swedes would do too, since the mentality is pretty much the same here. Sadly most people today are too brainwashed to see how much the government hides the truth..
@LundaGrabben3 Last time i checked Sweden is a Democracy, Majority voted on parties that are friendly to immigration. only 5% voted on the party that wants to limit immigration. Norway voted against immigration? NONSENSE, I live in Norway and i know. Norway have almost as much immigration as Sweden. There was no election on the immigration issue. Its simple really. You vote on the parties you want to rule the country. If you dissagre you vote against them.
You are beyond reality and It's obvious that you don't know what I'm talking about, I'm not talking about elections you have every 4th year when choosing a party to vote for, I'm talking about those elections you have every year, things like using the EURO as currency instead of the Krona or left/right traffic. In Denmark AND Norway there have been elections if you should limit immigration or not. But not in Sweden and that was what I meant, you can call it "studies" if you want.
@LundaGrabben3 Dont use the word elections then ffs. And no. even in Norway majority in those studies are pro immigration. And i KNOW you can not show me the numbers that support your claims.
Yeah well it is different from time to time, sometimes it's just studies but sometimes it's also elections. And we were talkin about Sweden, since you live in Norway you can't claim stuff about Swedes you aren't awared of.
@LundaGrabben3 cant u2 just get a room ? please im just happy that we won gold and that type of shit you 2 are talking about shouldnt be on this video clip
@TomShootsPhoto And also his Iranian/Finnish background might be something he is proud of, he should! But have very little to do with hockey. Its the Swedish hockey system he grew up in that made him a hockey player, not where his mother was born! ahh, screw it! i feel like its going to be imposible to talk to you about this. You are so disconnected with reality its not even funny. Your problem seems to be that Swedes "claim" him as 100% Swedish just because he is a good hockeyplayer. (Continue)
@MrFelixify When in fact his background is whats interesting and what Swedes are proud of. His background is acknowledged, and talked about. How he can become a role model for kids with simular background. How he can make immigrant kids first second third of forth generation interrested in hockey. This is something positive.
@oopopp I live in sweden and can tell you that every tv channel, newspaper and radio had it as it top news for a long time. The sports news were also extended. We did not won the tournament for 31 years, and for a hockey nation like sweden, we are kind of proud to actually have won it. So of course sweden care about it.
@oopopp Are you fucking kidding me???? this was all over the news. This was the biggest gold in the history of Swedish hockey. 15 000 people came to kungsträdgården to celebrate. 600 000 people watched the game on tv in the middle of the night even though it was from 02:00 to 05:00 on a weekday. 100 000 was following it on Aftonbladet through text updates. Personally i watched it on a internet stream since i dont live in Sweden, i can only imagine how many more did that. So yeah, we cared!
You swedes didn't even deserve the place in the final. The 2-1 goal in the semifinal was clearly kicked in, but the ref was kissing your ass like always before.
The tying goal was another lucky shot that just went in because Aittokallio decided to take a fucking walk in the middle of a game, so no skill involved there. And the gold winning goal was scored by a half Finnish player. U mad Svenfags?
@Stage6RacingFIN Finlands biggest newspaper was so jealous after Sweden won that their top story yesterday was a list of some of Swedens biggest fails in sport from some lost boxing game in the 50's (the guy that lost became world champion shortly after) up to the hockey olympics 2010... It's impossible to get angry. I just feel sorry for you
@Stage6RacingFIN - Look. Take it from someone whose chosen OHL team has been on the butt end of too many sticks in the past: refs make mistakes. However, I just found a video of the semifinal. The Finland goalie made a bad mistake on the tying goal. Sweden capitalized. And the first goal: it wasn't an intentional kick, there was no kicking motion, he didn't even see the puck. Finland lost fairly, the refs got it right.
@CycloneGU Well, in this year's Karjala-Turnaus game against sweden, Finland scored a game-tying goal in exactly the same way and the ref called it off. Why the fuck does it count when the swedes are on the scoring end?
@Stage6RacingFIN - Video? Without it I can only say there was a kicking motion, likely. The Swedish player in this semifinal did not have any kicking motion, period.
@Stage6RacingFIN - Thanks! From that clip, I can see that a Finnish player - intended or not - DID have a kicking motion, or close enough, that shot the puck to the net. It looked to me he saw the puck and kicked it. It's a tough call, however, but the ref. also thought this.
@CycloneGU Maybe, but you can see that he clearly tried to slow down and get to a shooting position, but the puck hit his skate and went in. But what's gone is gone, at least it wasn't a important game :D That ref is still an asshole though.
@Stage6RacingFIN well, Finland should find a better keeper then. And it was NO kicking motion what so ever. You should learn the game of hockey before commenting on anything. Besides, sweden outshot every single team this tournament. Sweden definately deserved the gold medal. The shots in the final was 58-17 in swedens favour, that states a lot. 22-1(!!) in the second period. And (most) finnish ppl are the whiniest people on earth. So you are just jealous. Now go sing hard rock hallelujah.
@Stage6RacingFIN If finnish player Aittokallio was so terrible and still got drafted to Finlands national team wouldn't that mean he's still better then what else your country could contribute with? And even if Mika is half finnish he still learned how to play hockey in Sweden no? No reason to be mad, just happy Sweden got what they deserved and what Finland didn't! Umad?
Look at the crowd - it was a pro-Sweden crowd. The cheers were constant throughout. It was like they were the home team. They had the home team feel in this one throughout. I think it was on the same scale as the Olympics even with this game, and the announcer even used the term "Golden Goal" that was coined there. The building erupted when the goal went in. I don't think that would have happened with a Russian goal. Sweden was the better team, too; I'm glad the better team won.
I went to school with Mika... :-D

No offense but russia deserved to lose after they won an unfair game against Canada. I know here in Canada we are all happy sweden won!
4everhorseluv 1 month ago
@4everhorseluv That game wasn't "unfair." The Canadian team outshot Russia 2-1 and were still down 6-1. The Canadians didn't capitalize on their chances until it was too late. Lesson learned for next year. Don't be a homer just because we lost.

MrFelixify 1 month ago
@MrFelixify I know, if you would've taken your time and scrolled trough some of my comments, you see that i know that. The problem is that Sweden is racially insensitive, being that sweds can't make a difference between immigrant and immigrant. If a talented immigrant comes along, he becomes swedish directly. Thats the problem. Not that they won.
TomShootsPhoto 1 month ago
@TomShootsPhoto "If a talented immigrant comes along, he becomes swedish directly."
No, being born in Sweden, lived here his whole life, having parents who both are Swedish citizens (although from other countries) makes him Swedish. He is not a immigrant, his father was. I dont think any sane person would say that he¨s not Swedish even if he not would have become a hockeystar. (Continue)
MrFelixify 1 month ago
But i guess your problem is that he¨s background not being acknowledged. But it is. Swedens largest broadcaster had ex player and commentator Mikael Renberg in the studio talking about his brackground and that he can become the hockey version of Zlatan, a kid with a different cultural backround and becoming a rolemodel for kids having the same or simmular background. We could call him a swedish borned Swede with Iranian / Finnish background. But i just assume everyone knows about it so im not.
MrFelixify 1 month ago
@MrFelixify He is not Swedish, and you can't ignore that. Just because he was born and raised here doesn't make him swedish. It would've been better if Karlsson did the goal, because than real sweds scored it. Congratz anyway, but it's not really their medal.
TomShootsPhoto 1 month ago
@TomShootsPhoto "He is not Swedish, and you can't ignore that. Just because he was born and raised here doesn't make him swedish." This is one of the most moronic things i have ever heard! Is it about bloodlines and shit? who gets to call himself a Swede? and how far back do we have to go in our family tree? My ancestors are Walloons that came to Sweden in 1600. Am i a "real" Swede? "but it's not really their medal." Ok, so whos medal is it? Irans or Finnlands? (continue)
MrFelixify 1 month ago
@MrFelixify He himself identifies as Swedish, He has a passport, citizenship, born and raised, played hockey here his whole life, speaks without any accent, both parents Swedish citizens. I dont know how more Swedish you can get. He is not Swedish because he was born and raised here?? " It would've been better if Karlsson did the goal, because than real sweds scored it" A "real" Swede?? what tha hell is a "real" Swede? Man, you sure have some nazi like view of bloodlines and "race".
MrFelixify 1 month ago
@MrFelixify I moved to Sweden when I was 8,(Gävle).Today,I still live in Sweden and try to fit in the best as possible.I was born in London, my mother is a doctor and my father is a physicist. And yet, still today,I am compared to the Ethiopians with AIDS,HIV just because I am an immigrant. Can't get a job, because I am not a "real" swede. You can't make a difference between immigrant and immigrant.I am constantly called "blatte" or "invadrare" every day. But still,I have a PhD in particle physics.
TomShootsPhoto 1 month ago
@TomShootsPhoto A Britt being called blatte and is compared to Ethiopians? ok. So you took your PhD in Sweden, are a Brittish citizen and can´t get a job because they see you as a immigrant? Racism is a problem for sure. It exists all over the world. But Britts is not exactly the ones racist people having a problem with. These days arab muslims is the ones that generally is being descriminated against. But a majority of Swedes are positive to immigration and giving refuge to asylum seekers.
MrFelixify 1 month ago
@MrFelixify I know what people are discriminated. I just compared myself to everyone else, and shared my experiences. Why? Because they are reliable and true. And I have met SOME Sweds that are positive forward immigrants. But you have to agree, that the majority in Sweden aren't so happy that there are many immigrants. I am a Swedish citizen. [See next post]
TomShootsPhoto 1 month ago
@TomShootsPhoto None of us are going to win this argument, we could fight for hours. And really, I don't have a right to fight against your country, because it's not mine. I don't consider myself swedish. So go, think what you want. Some of you, are really an "åsiktstaliban". Have a good life.
TomShootsPhoto 1 month ago
@TomShootsPhoto " I don't have a right to fight against your country, because it's not mine. I don't consider myself swedish." That says is all really. Us and them mentality never gets you far in life. And you complain that you are not being accepted in the society you live in? its your own view that at foult here. "But you have to agree, that the majority in Sweden aren't so happy that there are many immigrants." No i dont agree, and neither do statistics, MAJORITY of Swedes are positive to it
MrFelixify 1 month ago
@MrFelixify
LundaGrabben3 1 month ago
@LundaGrabben3 Last time i checked Sweden is a Democracy, Majority voted on parties that are friendly to immigration. only 5% voted on the party that wants to limit immigration. Norway voted against immigration? NONSENSE, I live in Norway and i know. Norway have almost as much immigration as Sweden. There was no election on the immigration issue. Its simple really. You vote on the parties you want to rule the country. If you dissagre you vote against them.
MrFelixify 1 month ago
@MrFelixify
LundaGrabben3 1 month ago
@LundaGrabben3 Dont use the word elections then ffs. And no. even in Norway majority in those studies are pro immigration. And i KNOW you can not show me the numbers that support your claims.
MrFelixify 1 month ago
@MrFelixify
Yeah well it is different from time to time, sometimes it's just studies but sometimes it's also elections. And we were talkin about Sweden, since you live in Norway you can't claim stuff about Swedes you aren't awared of.

enrandigsten 1 month ago
@TomShootsPhoto And also his Iranian/Finnish background might be something he is proud of, he should! But have very little to do with hockey. Its the Swedish hockey system he grew up in that made him a hockey player, not where his mother was born! ahh, screw it! i feel like its going to be imposible to talk to you about this. You are so disconnected with reality its not even funny. Your problem seems to be that Swedes "claim" him as 100% Swedish just because he is a good hockeyplayer. (Continue)
MrFelixify 1 month ago
@MrFelixify When in fact his background is whats interesting and what Swedes are proud of. His background is acknowledged, and talked about. How he can become a role model for kids with simular background. How he can make immigrant kids first second third of forth generation interrested in hockey. This is something positive.

Stage6RacingFIN 1 month ago
@Stage6RacingFIN Finlands biggest newspaper was so jealous after Sweden won that their top story yesterday was a list of some of Swedens biggest fails in sport from some lost boxing game in the 50's (the guy that lost became world champion shortly after) up to the hockey olympics 2010... It's impossible to get angry. I just feel sorry for you
9383qwerty 1 month ago
@Stage6RacingFIN - Look. Take it from someone whose chosen OHL team has been on the butt end of too many sticks in the past: refs make mistakes. However, I just found a video of the semifinal. The Finland goalie made a bad mistake on the tying goal. Sweden capitalized. And the first goal: it wasn't an intentional kick, there was no kicking motion, he didn't even see the puck. Finland lost fairly, the refs got it right.
CycloneGU 1 month ago
@CycloneGU Well, in this year's Karjala-Turnaus game against sweden, Finland scored a game-tying goal in exactly the same way and the ref called it off. Why the fuck does it count when the swedes are on the scoring end?
Stage6RacingFIN 1 month ago
@Stage6RacingFIN - Video? Without it I can only say there was a kicking motion, likely. The Swedish player in this semifinal did not have any kicking motion, period.
CycloneGU 1 month ago
@CycloneGU Sure, here you go: /watch?v=P86kDqYfvyQ
Stage6RacingFIN 1 month ago
@Stage6RacingFIN - Thanks! From that clip, I can see that a Finnish player - intended or not - DID have a kicking motion, or close enough, that shot the puck to the net. It looked to me he saw the puck and kicked it. It's a tough call, however, but the ref. also thought this.
CycloneGU 1 month ago
@CycloneGU Maybe, but you can see that he clearly tried to slow down and get to a shooting position, but the puck hit his skate and went in. But what's gone is gone, at least it wasn't a important game :D That ref is still an asshole though.
Stage6RacingFIN 1 month ago
@Stage6RacingFIN well, Finland should find a better keeper then. And it was NO kicking motion what so ever. You should learn the game of hockey before commenting on anything. Besides, sweden outshot every single team this tournament. Sweden definately deserved the gold medal. The shots in the final was 58-17 in swedens favour, that states a lot. 22-1(!!) in the second period. And (most) finnish ppl are the whiniest people on earth. So you are just jealous. Now go sing hard rock hallelujah.
