This has always been my absolute favorite song by BSB! I love all their songs, but this is the best one in my opinion. :) Of course we could debate forever which song is their best, but in the end this is the one I like best. :) Two thumbs up!
i read on wikipedia that this song was recorded for their first album the red album that we didnt get here and it was supposed to be their first single but they ended up recording I'll Never Break Your Heart they didnt know that Keith Martin had recorded and released until Brian heard it on the radio
people need to relax...bsb did a great job, but for some reason people sing their songs all the time and people get mad at that too LOL so its both ways
BSB's version is beautiful just like all their love songs but yes Keith Martins is better. His voice just fits it better than a group and this version is a bit watered down
i remember back in the 90s, as a kid, i loved these boys and where I'm from, they don't usually sell singles, only albums so when I heard this one time in the radio, I was like "why can't I find this?!?!" I would wait in the radio daily just to listen to this song. then my friend who went to hongkong bought their single that contains this.
I shall say that backstreet is a thousand times better that the Keith Martins. They have an harmony that he, alone, would never find! I love backstreet until the end.
Kasey85, Blacks in general prefer the black artists version of a song. Sorry but these are my observations that I have found to be true. Most blacks fit this observation. Islanbee and all the other blacks are examples. Keith Martin is a true vocalist because he is a black man. If bsb were black they would be considered a vocal harmony group and not a "boyband." Sorry but it is true.
You are such a idiot for going racial on the subject, I, being black prefer the smooth sounds of BSB to Keith Martin. Call me a race traitor if you will but I love this wonderful band comprised of 4 non-threatening white boys and a goody goody latino. Next time you decide to research something, please get a bigger control group kay!
@sexynebula OMIGOSH, SAME HERE. I'm black, too :P and I do prefer the Backstreet Boys over Keith Martin (TRIED to listen to his music, failed. XD) & um, correction... there are 3 white boys, 1 Cuban Irish (AJ McLean <3) & 1 Latino. Just Sayin'. (:
@tgk468 It's true for most of the 42 million black people in America? I'm glad you know so many of them. And being a true vocalist has nothing to do with being black.
I don't care what you say. Blacks only like the versions black artists do cause they have "soul." And you proved my point. I can't imagine any ordinary black chick preffering the white version of this song to the one by Keith Martin. If Keith Martin was white, black people would hate his version and say that it sucks and lacks soul. Simple as That!
@tgk468 Rude fool, you obviously don't know who I am. This "ordinary black chick" is a lawyer & tribal princess who descends from royal bloodlines in Nigeria. Anyone of any race can like any song they want. Not all darker skinned people will chose a "black version" of a song. It's all about our musical preferences. Do all whites prefer versions done by white artists? That question can actually speak for itself as many songs by minorities have been unfairly ignored until a white artist recordsit.
Remember Dolly Parton's "I Will Always Love you?" Which version did the blacks prefer? Whitney Houston's of course! I am not surprised! Blacks are predictable. "The original is always the best..." hypocritical?
Black women waste their time supporting black male artists. Black men don't even care about them. They would rather be with non black women. My observation.
I love it whenever ignorant blacks automatically assume that a song sang by a black artist means it is the original. I said it. It doesn't matter to blacks if a white person made a song originally. If a black person sings the song, it is automatically better because blacks have "soul." Blacks don't give a damn if a song is originally by whites. THEY WILL ALWAYS PREFER THE BLACK ARTISTS VERSION! PLAIN AND SIMPLE!
@tgk468 Let's not go there! There are so many covers done by both white and blacks where I like/appreciate equally. In the case of this song, I will give the nod to Keith Martin because he is a true vocalist. BSB, like N'Sync & Britney Spears was created to cater to the masses and had a marketing plan in mind with a ROI. Keith Martin's marketing was incorporated with the Bad Boys soundtrack that did well overall. However, Keith's album release never got the exposure that BSB got.
Who cares if you heard them sing? all i'm saying is that Keith's version to me is way more soulful. I listened to Bsb version over and over again and maybe because they were really young but honestly they just sounded like a few kids they stuck into the booth and say hey ,sing this right here. Years passed and their voices and harmonizing got developed and now they sounded way more soulful.
@flew08 I have no idea why someone would mark your comment as spam, but you are correct. Clearly why I liked Keith's version, a well trained 28 year old man at the time of recording. In fact when they performed this live, I noticed some parts where they were lacking in vocal quality. My only interest in replying to you was making it clear that they didn't record this afterward, not to even say that their version is better. The writer(s) of this song obviously gave it to him for that reason.
@lotto510rich Please show me proof of that as the movie that was shot from March to June 1991 and released in December of that year only held recording sessions for the soundtrack from August to November 1991. NONE of the 5 songs on that 1991 soundtrack release or the 31 track score had anything close to either version as this song was written in 1994.Your judgment proves to not be reliable & unfactual. What Keith Martin did isn't even as bad as what happened to blacks back in the days of Elvis.
Who cares if you heard them sing? all i'm saying is that Keith's version to me is way more soulful. I listened to Bsb version over and over again and maybe because they were really young but honestly they just sounded like a few kids they stuck into the both and say hey ,sing this right here. Years passed and their voices and harmonizing got developed and now they sounded way more soulful.
Ok, who cares who sang it first? I prefer Keith Martin's version and so does many, many other people, face it, i give respect where it's deserved and Bsb version doesn't have any feelings, and with a song like that you need to feel the lyrics and sing it like you care.
@flew08@flew08 No one here is really interested in that. Remind people of that elsewhere, as all you are going to do is annoy & anger their fans. I really question what made you think it's so important to establish that. No one has dared to say Keith Martin is untalented to warrant your comment. I like both equally, but Keith's version really brings true emotion like you said. I'd just rather not say it here as I would piss off other people & incite an unwanted arguement.
@lott In addition to that, a primary vocalist(Littrell) in the BSB mentions hearing this song on the radio in March '95 & realized that it was taken from them. Keith Martin or his management clearly took this song & the writer approved of him doing so. No one at that time in the industry, including songwriters were interested in an all white R&B vocal group. In a last minute effort to include this on his April '95 album, Keith recorded this in LATE '94, to master & release in Feb 95 as a single.
@lotto510rich You're obviously clueless & ignorant to type such a comment. It is clearly an opinion on your part, which holds no merit as concrete facts exist. Visiting Orlando in 1994, I heard an unknown BSB perform this song at least 3-4 months before Keith released his in Feb. 1995.Several interviews from 1996-01 have already established this. They recorded their version in August 1994. Keith did his version afterward in the 4th quarter of 1994.They weren't wise enough to register a copyright.
scapegoatwax2001, Here we go, I never said anything about race first of all and some songs that bsb sings are very good and I happen to be a fan of them also. With this track it comes down to the melody that it's done and maybe I prefer keiths version because it's the original and everyone knows it's always hard to do a cover version of a track and have it sound better, please don't draw the race card.
@scape01 Yes, you are correct. As a 9 year old, I first heard this at a concert on a fall 1994 trip to Orlando. I literally had no clue who these guys were & thought they were great R&B vocalists for being young white guys. Few months later, I hear Keith Martin's version(radio) & loved it. At that time 15 yrs ago I also wondered why I heard those white guys sing it & wondered why I couldn't find their version in music stores. I search online(AOL) & only turned up with Keith Martin/Bad Boys OST.
@scapegoatwax2001 Later on, I hear We've Got It Goin' On on the radio when starting 5th grade and realize it's them. The DJ dissed them after playing that song and said that they were weird. My family goes to England for Christmas on December 19, 1995 and I find We've Got It Goin' On in a Chelsea music shop a few days after we arrive. On the same trip I saw the I'll Never Break Your Heart video for the 1st time. That was unbeknownst to me the replacement for this song after Keith took it.
@flew08 Sorry, but Keith's isn't the original. This is coming from someone who heard these boys sing this in '94 and fell in love with Keith's version in '95. Being a final year law student, I can see how Keith got away with releasing his version. The BSB who recorded this first neglected to contact a copyright lawyer to register a copyright for it & inform Jive Records of their plans before the end of 1994,which by then Keith was still recording his album due in April. He wisely released his 1st.
@BSBarchive Yes he's American.. I actually love both versions of this song. The original and the BSB version. Best song ever written I say. Of course with BSb you have five hot guys singing instead of one. I'll take five hotties over one any day! :)
@BSBarchive He is an American , a black american Singer , But i think that we can't compare between them , because every one has his own style of interprating , and i guess that BSB version is very heart touching
@flew08 and lotto510rich, Just because the BSB are white does not mean that they lack soul. They have more soul than today's R&B artists. I like Keith's version too but prefer BSB's version. Don't be ignorant. I know soul when I hear it. You can't assume that because BSB are white i means they aren't soulful. Remeber soul has no color. I recommend "iF YOU STAY" by BSB.
i really love it! BSB is great and I'm sure Keith is really great! I love more the one of BSB because i'm a big fan of them but I'm sure the one of Keith is really good though! I love BSB so much! Why AJ sounds so sexy on this song! He is so damn cool and Nick is cool too! Howie sounds and looks like an angel and Briam is perfect! Kevin is so damn sexy! I love them so much!
@kasey85 I'm not sure what comment that you are responding to, but WHO are you to ask me "why I am here to say that"? By looking at the string of your replies, it looks like you have a ton to say. Anybody could easily find that information w/o your help....pffff.....The reason why I comment is to educate people on music and give an honest opinion. I love music, so I can't help that. What's up with your full editorial on this page? We could have found that on wikipedia on our own!
@islandbee Wikipedia is not a reliable source & anyone can add information there. The info for this at "Wikipedia" all came from my cousin & me by sourcing several interviews. The rest of it isn't there anymore because a disgruntled user wants to micromanage music pages over there by deleting information he doesn't provide. For that reason I provide this info as many of you hop onto Youtube cluelessly & provide false info in your comments rather researching it beforehand. That confuses others.
@islandbee You obviously lacked the decency to say something like this: "Keith Martin's version is very wonderful, you should try hearing it!" instead of "You oughta hear it. Keith's version is so much better!" You irritate other listeners of this "BSB" recording & make them unfairly thumb down your comments. Considering how many here feel he "took" it from them, why are you here to imply that his version is "so much better"? It is obvious to many his cover is better & most here could care less.
@kasey85 What difference does it make on how I make the comment? I am giving an honest opinion on the way I want to comment without sugar coating. The fact that Keith Martin's version is a cover, and my opinion are two totally different subjects. Just because a song is done first by an artist(s), doesn't mean it's the best. I frankly don't care about thumbs down on my comments. As long as my voice is heard, I'm happy. BTW, I wasn't providing false info. Let's clear that up!
@islandbee Of course you didn't provide false info. What you said is 100% correct. I was merely explaining why you saw an "editorial". His is probably better because of his greater skills and how he didn't have any weaker vocalists alongside him.
Well, Keith's version is great. If you don't like it, it's usually best to not post because you make it likely to have an irritated fan respond to you. Go to Keith Martin's wonderful cover of it and say how much you like his vocals there. That shows not wanting to start confrontations.
I love Keith Martin, but he didn't originally record this. The BSB originally planned their 1st album for release in early 1995, but 1 day in March '95 Brian Littrell heard Keith Martin's version on the radio. They were very unhappy considering they recorded their version in Aug 1994 before him. The writer & Jive had deceived them & gave Keith the song in late '94.He did a great job,but they never covered this.Keith did. He in fact helped delay their debut release in search of a new 1st single.
GIrl i'm afraid just to give it all up. My hearts tellin' me to hold down to my love, but when you get close i just want you to know, i start to get weak and i cant let you go..

@scapegoatwax2001 They are the original artists. All the facts are out there, it's only those who are ignorant that choose not to know.

i really love it!

@islandbee I know I know but I grown with the one of BSB and I really love BSB!

LoL.....OK.....I understand :-) Memories and music always go hand in hand, and if that is what BSB was for you back then, good for you!
islandbee 2 years ago
@islandbee Yes I like Keith Martin's, but why are you here to say that? I'm sure many people can find his version easily w/o your help.
kasey85 1 year ago
@kasey85 I'm not sure what comment that you are responding to, but WHO are you to ask me "why I am here to say that"? By looking at the string of your replies, it looks like you have a ton to say. Anybody could easily find that information w/o your help....pffff.....The reason why I comment is to educate people on music and give an honest opinion. I love music, so I can't help that. What's up with your full editorial on this page? We could have found that on wikipedia on our own!
islandbee 1 year ago
@islandbee Wikipedia is not a reliable source & anyone can add information there. The info for this at "Wikipedia" all came from my cousin & me by sourcing several interviews. The rest of it isn't there anymore because a disgruntled user wants to micromanage music pages over there by deleting information he doesn't provide. For that reason I provide this info as many of you hop onto Youtube cluelessly & provide false info in your comments rather researching it beforehand. That confuses others.
kasey85 1 year ago
@islandbee Most your comments, except the one I replied to andthe last are polite. You will see soon which one I'm referring to.
kasey85 1 year ago
@islandbee You obviously lacked the decency to say something like this: "Keith Martin's version is very wonderful, you should try hearing it!" instead of "You oughta hear it. Keith's version is so much better!" You irritate other listeners of this "BSB" recording & make them unfairly thumb down your comments. Considering how many here feel he "took" it from them, why are you here to imply that his version is "so much better"? It is obvious to many his cover is better & most here could care less.
kasey85 1 year ago
@kasey85 What difference does it make on how I make the comment? I am giving an honest opinion on the way I want to comment without sugar coating. The fact that Keith Martin's version is a cover, and my opinion are two totally different subjects. Just because a song is done first by an artist(s), doesn't mean it's the best. I frankly don't care about thumbs down on my comments. As long as my voice is heard, I'm happy. BTW, I wasn't providing false info. Let's clear that up!
islandbee 1 year ago
@islandbee Of course you didn't provide false info. What you said is 100% correct. I was merely explaining why you saw an "editorial". His is probably better because of his greater skills and how he didn't have any weaker vocalists alongside him.

ok.... i dont care... im not here to fight ....
