Jerry Herman wrote songs that lovers of the 'show music genre' can't stop singing.

Clever, sophisticated lyrics that trickle off the tongue. They were the musicals my children gut their teeth on. Today two decades later, when I get together with my kids, we always break out singing 'Put on your Sunday clothes'. Jerry Herman is the musical version of Mr. Rogers. In fact, that should be his next musical. He;d be good at writing a Broadway show for children.
