I was 12 when this song came into my life....first time i ever felt like I might be o.k. in this world, someone cared about me..... He got me this tape an drove to my home to give it to me{ I had moved 2 hours away}. Never felt love till then.
This song is the anthem of people who miss someone. For me, its the only one I regret letting get away. Now she's a thousand miles away from me, down in the sun, and I'm up here in the rain.
I'm 18 now and my Dad died last year. This song makes me both happy and sad because I've grown up since I was born listening to Dire Straits with both Brothers in Arms and Money for Nothing being 2 of my Dad's favourite albums. I will always love Dire Straits for being there for me along with my Dad throughout my life. This song and Brothers in Arms will both always make me cry, but they are both also attatched to some amazing memories.
This is one of the best albums of all time...I got this record as a gift from my moms when it came out, and it never gets old. When I first got it I thought it was fly cuz every other song on this record was a single...as I got older, it's an impressive album...an illustration of less is more.
@nedster01 yeah, this song got me through some really fucked up times too. Not sure if that is what your trying to say, but I just thought I'd chime in and say how how this song still helps me through every single day of my difficult life :-).
meu irmão seus videos são de muito bom gosto. valeu de montão estou colocando como favoritos, um forte abraço e continue sempre assim com os gostos musicais afinadíssimos. excelente, fantástico.
@lazaurus73 who gives a turd if you're black. now, martian is a big deal, but just being black isn't a merit badge nowadays lame ass. i'll bet your real angry and proud aren't you lazaurus73
And this song reminds me the year my brother left home to go to uni. in 86. We used to fight and argue all the time before and that year I realised how much I love him. I used to listen to this album alot then. Knopfler is great.

A lesson in subtle production! Wondrous how the producer kept all the instruments at bay, behind the drums and guitar and Knopfler's sleepy voice.
