You're supposed to use a heat gun with a small nozzle, so you can carefully target the glued perimeter. Yes, the heat may or may not destroy the existing digitizer, but it's supposed to be broken anyways. When the glued area gets heated, it easily lifts right off. That way, you don't crack the LCD. The other thing you can use is a heated knife blade. The pros use an electric soldering iron with a knife attachment, but a candle and hobby knife will do.
The digitizer is glued to the LCD... you have to buy a new LCD too because you are going to break it no doubt about that. I broke it too.. and i have to wait another day for the new LCD screen. this sucks...
i have to do this to mine my screen stopped working well only the touching part do you know what this could be cus the rest works fine i use the arrows to move it around
Use a heat gun or heated knife blade to separate the glued digitizer-glass gently. That way you don't stress the LCD glass and crack it. This is a common mistake to crack the LCD (I've done this).
Did you ever get it fixed? I have the same project to work on and somebody said it was litterally impossible so I need to know if you ever got yours fixed or not? thanks
How were you going to get the digitizer back on the lcd screen. theres two little connections and i have no clue one would begin to go about that? Thanx in advancs
i wiped off all that liquid on the digitizer and now it looks messed up like looking through some polarized lense. does anybody know what the liquid was? it seems like oil
@homerdude Have no idea what liquid you are talking about. my screen came with a peel off plastic cover on it. Did you try alcohol or windex to clean it?
@homersimpson2473 the digitizer and lcd were stuck together with the oil between them. the digitizer was polarized, the new lcd i bought had polarization too, so 2 polarizing pieces made it too hard to see. I put in a new digitizer without polarization, so far so good
Alright I am just wondering if the outer plastic is just cracked the touch screen itself isn't and I can still use it but it just bothers the hell out of me. What should I do?
the best way to do it is to take out the front panel of the digtizer that glued to the besel and after that the LCD comes out with the rear plate of the digitizer.then it is much easy to take that plate from the LCD
@dbdrag1552 Digitizer is on the outside, where you touch, under the digitizer is the lcd. In my own opinion I dont think you can do this with out breaking the LCD. Maybe if you are very very careful and pick at it softly. Its glued in. Hope this helps. let me know how it goes.
i did what u said except the part wen u said not to break the screen. lol, when i took it out it came apart into like 4 parts with the liquid in the middle if you get the back cover off and see a mirror part put it back on and try to get further underneath to get the whole screen not pull it apart like me thanks though just got to order screen then try and get it back together
Thanks for the video man. You have the only video like this on the whole internet. Was thinking about replacing my screen, now I'm rethinking lol. Might just have to 'lose' the phone.
@SlabTzu Use a T3 torqs bit to remove screws. the led screen is glued in so be careful when removing it will crack. Let me know how yours goes. Got new screen today will put back together over weekend.
what an idiot!!

damn. my lcd is broken, but the touchscreen works.
Now the question, should i buy the lcd and the touchscreen or just the lcd?

Both, they are glued together in a way which means the LCD glass will crack on removal

I need to do this, cos my digitizer its already dead. So, the LCD its the only thing that i need to take care of.
Let me see if i get it. Theres the lcd at the bottom, then, theres another layer of plastic? and there its the digitizer?
Does the new digitizer comes already glued, like a sticker, just remove some plastic and paste it?

@homersimpson2473 -Thanks,
And the new digitizer its already ready to be placed in? Like a sticker, already glued? If not, thats a problem.
