Came out, originally, I think in 1988 but it wasn't until 1993 when this song became a hit! Which if you remember 1993, this fits in perfectly with that year. This wasn't 80's hair metal and hair metal was out of style by 1993. Bands like Metallica, Green Jello, Tool, Guns N Roses, Butthole Surfers, etc, were popular in 1993. Although this doesn't sound like those bands, it fits in.

I detect a hint of sarcasm in the line "tell your children not to hear my words, what they mean, what they say." It gives the hint- at least in my mind- that he's challenging his critics who hate him based on some imagined moral high ground.

@unit694 The song is a little vague and cryptic. One interpretation is that the narrator is beginning a descent into something evil, probably Satanism, and his family is concerned. Throughout the song he tells his mother and father not to try to help him. Some lines include, "Tell your children not to walk my way" telling them not to send his brothers and sisters; and "Not about to see your light" meaning he doesn't want to go the way of his parents. This is the reason why he made it.

Danzig was not only in the misfits, but was probably the only guy with any talent in the band. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE the misfits, but they were little more than a glorified garage band, which is actually one of the things that made them so awesome. Danzig went on to a successful solo career, while the rest of the dudes in the band never figured out that 40 year old men look REALLY ridiculous dressed as extras from an Ed Wood movie. LOL
