The answer is not homeland drilling to make some people even richer. The answer will be clobbered from another country that has vehciles that run on compressed air / water / solar.. Petroleum is a controled substance and people are addicted to it, and the Oil Companies know it. YOUR MONEY is what they are addicted to. Phatcub, This is not true. There is only 10 years of oil left in the wells in the Gulf of Mexico that has been drilled for years. If we don't start drilling now we will be 100% depended on export oil from countries like Iraq and so on in the near furture. Offshore drilling in the US is a must.

In 2004 the Energy information agency said drilling in and offshore in Alaska would bring down the price of gas 3.5 cents in 2027. The oil companies are holding onto the leases they already have waiting for the price to go higher. Plenty of offshore leases available in the Gulf of Mexico in 5000 acre blocks so if they really want to drill offshore then they can knock themselves out. This oil will end up getting sold to the highest bidder and that might not be America. Total freakin scam.
