What a great video! Of course Roky! And I remember seeing the Explosives back in my Houston days in about 1984-5. At the Island - remember that place? They were so good then. And obviously Roky and the band are still super duper!
The 13th Floor Elevators captured the pure essence of psychedelia - I can't believe Roky sounds just like he did in the 60's - does anyone know if Rollercoaster was played at this concert?
The Explosives are gretaness - used to see them at The Crossroads in Nacogdoches, Tx. all thetime, and corresponded with drummer Freddie Krc for a while many years later. Cam King (guitarist seen here) is one of the finest rock/rock a billy pickers, and also a great singer. With bassist Waller Collie, these guys made memories for me and so many others - got me thru the early 80's when there was so much shit music being churned out ! Thanks GUys !
Fuck me, he still has the voice...for all the shit this poor slob has been thru, he still has that glorious voice. I'm watching the biopic on Roky right now, and I gotta tell ya....it's a miracle his brain's still functioning for all the shit that's been done to him, especially that whackjob of a mother he's got. Glad to see he's back with us once again.
Yup, I just watched the "You're gonna miss me" last night and it had a sort of non-climatic ending, so I wanted to see how he's doing now and this is amazing!
I dunno...it sounds pretty damned good to me...in fact, I could easily see this song, had not been released way back in the day actually becoming a hit on present day alternative radio. God knows it kicks the shit outta most of the stuff that passes itself off as music that we're forced to listen to.
got really interested in this group about 2 years ago (from my dad's old record/tape collection, old magazines)...got hooked...saw them on an Austin City Limits TV show, then they played NYC and Hoboken recently - amazing! i took 2 of my girlfriends, and we all agree that the guitar player is "really good-looking"...cam king is his name...god bless roky!
Duane Aslaksen is doing the jug as good as can get as by the guitar interpretation and then some!! The Explosives rock!! Roky seems better than ever, he's fighting all those REAL demons, the jug of Tommy Hall is missing,if he wants to get back, help him then or listen to the GREAT Elevators recordings, or make a trust for Tommy Hall as well... maybe we'll see a reconnection of the two in 2010, if ever? Meanwhile, the town of Rokyville has got their sheriff back, and with a positive difference!!
Dude, I totally dig that guy on guitar doing the jug riff. Its freakin' exciting! If people wanna hear the jug, though, I bet I could do it! Hell, maybe I'll buy a mic and a p.a. and pour out a jug of cheap Gallo wine (unless somebody wants it) and go from there!!! I bet I could do it!
Still sound good. The guy can still play and this is recorded live. This video is like something out of a time warp. Make one wonder what if all those years had not been lost.
The saints be with us. Love forever for Roky and the boys. Saw him in San Francisco early this year at the Great American Muisc Hall. Bloody brilliant and FUN.
Gooooooooooo Rokyooooooo You rock my world!! DUDE you rock it!

Roky seems really confident here. It's good to see. His comeback show at ACL was great but he seemed insecure.
