I mean its unreasonable to compare an MLS team to Barcelona. Their payroll is tens of millions and probably Hundreds of millions. all MLS teams have a cap of about 2.something million. Hmmm? That's the real difference. And they won't afford better quality until they have the interest of americans. Whether that's through advertising, attendance, and/or tv ratings. The game has to be worth more in American for teams to be able to spend more. Keep NOT paying attention to it, and it will never grow
So, you just spent nearly two minutes comparing Barcelona to the Columbus Crew...Shocking that a club that might be the best ever assembled is better than a MLS side. You might think this illustrates your sophistication, but it actually betrays you as pompous blowhard. Barca is better than the Crew - No shit. Lots of people go to MLS games and enjoy them for what they are -- the best level of soccer available to them in their local area. 99% of fans the world over are in same boat...
@Lawnboyization I disagree. It is because the product (Technical Skill) is poor. If the MLS improves the product, more people will watch the games. If you do some research and look at the attendance levels of the Cosmos you will see they filled up Giants Stadium (86,000 people). Things were great in the league until they expanded the number of teams, and had to fill the new teams with less skilled players. As a result, the quality of play went down, and subsequently viewership went down.
@grandeleven Point well taken, but I was not talking about women's soccer. I know there are some well developed goals in MLS, but they are few and far between. Most of the goals, or scoring opportunities I see in the MLS are not well developed. Please write me back when you find one, I would love to see it and do a video discussing the positives.
Wow, I would love to get that clip of the coach saying that. We need to reeducate our players, parents, and coaches in how soccer is meant to be played :) Or we can keep doing the same thing and wonder why our youth players quit soccer and move to basketball, baseball, and football. Kick and run gets old and boring!!!
I like it Byron! Nice... and nice MLS clip... that is quite hysterical! Let's find a Division 1 Women's soccer match... I once heard a D1 Women's college coach on television and during his half time speech say "Get it, hit it, and pressure it!" Craziness... why do we never quite make it internationally?!

ha ha. Hey dork, people don't go to MLS games because they are played in America. Americans don't go to soccer games - they've got the NFL.

Never quite make it internationally? US women were gold cup finalists this year and won the previous one.
its easy to compare two terrible teams then compare them to the best of different group and claim to be better...doesn't make it true
