@atatyrknumber1 POISE. dark souls introduced a new game feature called poise. Basically what it means is, when you have higher poise, you can block stronger attacks and absorb the blow versus getting destroyed by it. Also having a sheild that has 100% physical damage reduction is key.
what the hell I heard this was gonna be harder than Demons Souls and I was psyched but he isn't taking mass dmg from all boss attacks, he isn't getting knocked around by the attacks that much, and the maneaters were way more formidable becasue they rammed you off the edge

@4dger This game will have him going for a while because you can keep playing it on a harder difficulty which is only unlocked after you beat the game once, and after it keeps getting harder (in a way). I also recommend skyrim because there's about 40+ hours of gameplay in that one.
Bell gargoyles mad easy to get all that armor simply kill the sun knight and he drops it all,I don't reccomend doing this but its an easy way to get it

Skyrim has dynamic events and is open world where you interact with NPC's and can choose to follow the main storyline or do whatever the fuck you want. @PeterthePickle2 This is a Demo version of the game, with two other classes exclusive to the demo. Paladin and Darkwraith. He's playing paladin which has super defense and a ton more life. Darkwraith could invade other players playing demos at that station.

The Elder Scrolls series and this game are clearly different, the only similarities being rather superficial: both are set in a fantasy setting, but the The Elder Scrolls has always focused on exploration and freedom over combat, while Dark Souls main selling point is its difficult combat. @ukevonjager I wasn't either. But I have the game now and its hard as balls. The 2nd boss i've managed to find has kicked my ass about 5 or 7 times! My friend, who beat demons souls multiple times, is also having this problem. Dark Souls has not disappointed.

A great deal of people play games to relax, and it's hard to relax when something is extremely challenging.
I'm not one of those people, but challenge for me still isn't necessary in a game, as I can still enjoy playing through the starcraft 2 campaign on casual every once in a while.

Just because the whole point of TES ability to you to become godlike doesnt mean it isn't difficult. Turn the difficulty bar, ALL the way up and your fair, none-game breaking spells in Morrowind/Oblivion and its pretty challenging.

@doubleAgaming Although I really respect Demon/Dark Souls and what the games aim for (ludicrous difficulty), I find that Skyrim can be made very hard with the difficulty slider that's been implimented in Elder Scrolls games for a long time, and Skyrim will also probably have a hardcore mode, like in Fallout New Vegas.
@TheCostran29 Yes but at the same time, if your having difficulty in Skyrim (or Oblivion) u can just turn down the difficulty, in Demon/Dark Souls, even if your hand is bleeding and your crying tears of blood the game wont be merciful. I'm getting this game, but it just seems like if it was a ps3 exclusive the game would look a lot cleaner. Perhaps its just the camera used to record this but it looks like Demons Souls was a better looking game, graphic wise.
This Gargoyle battle is exactly like the Maneater battle from Demon's Souls. They look alike, for one.
They both have Ranged AND Melee devastating attacks.
And in both cases -- and that is by far the biggest resemblance between the two boss fights -- After a good amount of seconds another Maneater/Gargoyle appears.
One of my most favourite fights from Demon's Souls. No wonder they decided to show this similiar battle as a trailer.
For certain there is appeal ot the idea of playing a mortal, human, non-superpowered warrior battling giant monsters and somehow winning.
Yet watching this just looks a bit stale and unconvincing. Why doesn't a monster that size just try to grab the hero and eat him? Why does he ponce around only doing one spear attack every few seconds and turning around for no reason when the hero is right next to him? There should be relentless agression .
@kingjamie2 There most likely will be. keep in mind this isn't the final game, just some preview/testing. And even the first boss in demons souls was how your describing this one, it was difficult, but not insane like the others, just so the player gets a feel of what he is in for. I highly doubt this game will disappoint so do not worry!

If you played Demon's Souls, you know exactly how heart-pounding a fight like this one can be. The fighting mechanics look spot on with what I'd hope for this game.

@kingjamie2 Game balance mostly. Keep in mind, this video is from the demo. The characters all started at the beginning the this level with waaay better gear than they should have by now. I am playing a heavily armored knight, so I move much slower, and his attacks STILL make my stumble back when he hits my shield. They also spam that damn fire move a lot more in the final one. I think you should rent it, it just kind of has to be played to be understood. Its a great game.
The Solaire is a demo character with uber stats so people at E3 who haven't played Demon souls before can play the demo without dieing everying second
that doesnt count as a boss fight. more like a sub boss the maneaters from demons souls was harder.
and buy it for watever system that has the better feel on controller cause playing fighting games on xbox huge controller is bad but fps feels better on xbox compared to ps3. i myself will play it on both systems so i can compete with all my friends.

@AkimboMigdet If you look on my channel we did an almost complete playthrough of the first game, demons souls. The gameplay is similar enough that you will probably get a feel for how the games fighting works, etc. and I can promise you that you pick up equipment and weapons throughout the game! there were so many in demons souls including upgrades and whatnot, it was awesome
@TheSharpmarksman PS3 is actually less compressed than 360, so ps3 is actually better, but if all your friends have 360, then it might be worth getting that

@doubleAgaming Although I really respect Demon/Dark Souls and what the games aim for (ludicrous difficulty), I find that Skyrim can be made very hard with the difficulty slider that's been implimented in Elder Scrolls games for a long time, and Skyrim will also probably have a hardcore mode, like in Fallout New Vegas.

@TheCostran29 Yes but at the same time, if your having difficulty in Skyrim (or Oblivion) u can just turn down the difficulty, in Demon/Dark Souls, even if your hand is bleeding and your crying tears of blood the game wont be merciful. The game demands experience, skill, patience and/or bravery and you can make it to the end easy or just barely.

I'm getting this game, but it just seems like if it was a ps3 exclusive the game would look a lot cleaner. Perhaps its just the camera used to record this but it looks like Demons Souls was a better looking game, graphic wise.

This Gargoyle battle is exactly like the Maneater battle from Demon's Souls. They look alike, for one.
They both have Ranged AND Melee devastating attacks.
And in both cases -- and that is by far the biggest resemblance between the two boss fights -- After a good amount of seconds another Maneater/Gargoyle appears.
One of my most favourite fights from Demon's Souls. No wonder they decided to show this similiar battle as a trailer.

For certain there is appeal ot the idea of playing a mortal, human, non-superpowered warrior battling giant monsters and somehow winning.
Yet watching this just looks a bit stale and unconvincing. Why doesn't a monster that size just try to grab the hero and eat him? Why does he ponce around only doing one spear attack every few seconds and turning around for no reason when the hero is right next to him? There should be relentless agression .

@kingjamie2 There most likely will be. keep in mind this isn't the final game, just some preview/testing. And even the first boss in demons souls was how your describing this one, it was difficult, but not insane like the others, just so the player gets a feel of what he is in for. I highly doubt this game will disappoint so do not worry!

@kingjamie2 "A monster that size'? He's only 4 feet taller than the player. If you want a boss battle with uneven odds that make no sense, check out the 700 foot leviathan from Resistance 2. If you played Demon's Souls, you know exactly how heart-pounding a fight like this one can be. The gargoyles do borrow a lot of themes from the Maneaters in Demon's Souls, but that's about the only thing I can find wrong with this fight. The fighting mechanics look spot on with what I'd hope for this game.

@kingjamie2 Game balance mostly. Keep in mind, this video is from the demo. The characters all started at the beginning the this level with waaay better gear than they should have by now. I am playing a heavily armored knight, so I move much slower, and his attacks STILL make my stumble back when he hits my shield. They also spam that damn fire move a lot more in the final one. I think you should rent it, it just kind of has to be played to be understood. Its a great game.

that doesnt count as a boss fight. more like a sub boss the maneaters from demons souls was harder.
and buy it for watever system that has the better feel on controller cause playing fighting games on xbox huge controller is bad but fps feels better on xbox compared to ps3. i myself will play it on both systems so i can compete with all my friends.

@AkimboMigdet If you look on my channel we did an almost complete playthrough of the first game, demons souls. The gameplay is similar enough that you will probably get a feel for how the games fighting works, etc. and I can promise you that you pick up equipment and weapons throughout the game! there were so many in demons souls including upgrades and whatnot, it was awesome
