well, I am surprised... that the refereeing was rather good, fair in this game. If the referee made some mistakes, then they were made equally often in favor of either of the teams.
It also looks that the Russian team woke up only in the second third of the game. Is it somehow related to the difference in physical training? But we know that a game lasts 60 minutes (not just 20)
No, it is not the only one :-) Well, actually they did not play so often with each other
and they have never played on the big ice except for the year 1972, where the body checking does not help so much as id does on the small ice and the speed is more important.
I guess you do not count the Challenge Cup 79, because the NHL-team is not a national team...
Well, why don't we agree that both teams were exceptionally good ... were almost equal? Just had different styles.
Had Canada buried it's chances early versus Tretiak playing like, well, Tretiak, this game might have had a different outcome. This game is closer than the final score. Looks like Team Canada gives up in the last 10 minutes which is very uncharacteristic of many Team Canada teams over the years. Great Soviet victory and, hard to believe, it is their only one over Canada in a "best on best players" series. Thanks for the upload.
