I followed them since the day i had first heard them untill the pittsburgh show in 95 right before we lost Jerry!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! RIP,,,ill see you on the other side someday
@cheeserules10109 THe dead hallucintaed? You mean when they played for the MERRY FUNKING PRANKSTERS they were dosed out at the Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test?
No it's not 93. This guy called Brian made me a tape with this EXACT version on it (I played it to death). It was 73/74 or 81 or 84/5. He did me several tapes. The Dead Heads will eliminate further... Oakland, Colloseum, Philly? ? Good luck.
@DarbyRangers the dead isnt a dance band. they are what would be classified as a jam band. big difference but i agree with you that if you listen once youll be a fan for life. rest in peace jerry we all love you.
i have alot of respect for these guys. they knew what the ear liked and knew how to make other sounds come in all trippy. best shit ever. Orange sunshine is still available in Colorado ppl
that orange sunshine in the right setting, with some kind folk, can break any nwo mind control conditioning, it just lets the soul remember, we are infinite love light beings, not slaves.
oh man i used to take 5 hits of pure lsd before going to fukin greatful dead shows i was such a deadhead now look at me im still taking acid and smoking weed everyday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11
Weak recording here of what sounds like a fun 84 show. Cool photos. Dead shows were unbelievably fun. No concerts today remotely compare to the Grateful Dead on a good night. The music, the fun, the cool people, the atmosphere, the culture, the cute girl you just met, a good venue, etc all combined for just about the funnest thing you could do in public. We were so freakin lucky.
Yes. hahaha! They wrote this song. Not only did they write it but they also played it. Find a video of the 08-08-77 version at Cornell University. I may have the date wrong but who cares. It's usually posted with a big steal your face . Anyway. This is the best version.
its the whole community feel that causes the following its like a big party with 20000 of your friends all at once, thats what the shows are like i mean its meant to be heard live
I love the Dead; absolutely love them but I am with you. I don't understand why people devote such a large part of their life to a band...........boggles the mind. I think that a trip to Hawaii is more appropriate to spend your money on than following a band around dumpy middle america towns. But hey, to each their own.
It really helps if you grew up with the Dead to get it. They were a leading spirit of the late 60's and early 70's.
Just listening to them on your iPod isn't the same. The Dead should always be played on vinyl, for starters. One had to go to the Dead shows and be part of the scene for it to all come together.
the custom guitar Jerry was playing at the time was an Alembic w dual humbuckers...

I don't get the fascination with the Dead... they sound ok, but why such a cult like following?
