Why do you think we're that different? Both humans and cockroaches are born, eat, breathe, move, interact, copulate, and die. Doesn't every living thing? Even if we are so different, homosexuality is even seen in the animal world, including primates.

Perhaps. Perhaps not. We don't know if love or lust exists in the animal world, nor will we ever. Regardless, even if they're simply mistaking each other for the opposite sex (happens a lot with fireflies), homosexuality exists, and it doesn't destroy a species. Why condemn it?

I'm not condemning anything, but in this case, there's a clear evolutionary advantage involved, whereas in humans, homosexuality does not present such an advantage.
That doesn't make it wrong, it just means that you can't directly compare these bugs to human behavior. And nobody is claiming that homosexuality is destroying the human species. I'm just saying that this is comparing apples to oranges, just as human cannibalism isn't the same as fireflies eating each other.

Species survival requires diversity of genes. Alpha male and singular queens who chose the males they mate with (common amongst insects) works against diversity.
So I think the point is that by having a mechanism where males transmit *other* male sperm regains some diversity (you only need a little) which prevents an "all eggs in one basket" evolutionary strategy (which would be doomed to complete species failure in the long run).

Hmm, practice for the big time with lady-bugs. This unfortunately doesn't explain cases of complete sexual reversal with only interest for the same sex, which does appear in animals other than humans.
Then again, the religious right has been pretty good at cherry picking whatever scientific evidence it likes (creationism) so this gay research seems a bit pointless.

Are you serious? Hormones control body physiology and growth, sex drive, penis size, breast size, hair growth, menstruation, etc. Men and women with low sex drive often take hormones. Neutered males (dogs for example) lose all their sex drive. Why do think a boy's voice deepens at puberty? Why do you think many gay men have high voices?
