@kaleikaiviolet Hey. It takes very little work to get the Fire like I have mine. The only thing that is remotely difficult might be rooting the device, but you only need to root if you want the Android Market or Google apps. Everything else can be done in a matter of minutes.

I'm almost out of storage, but I've also got a few 500+ MB games installed. lol.

I like the Kindle Fire better than the Nook Tablet, imo. Price + power are nice.

I also saw myself facing the same problems you're going through now, there are some videos on youtube teaching how to root the kindle fire 6.2.1, and i'd say that's the way to go, cuz once your kindle is rooted you can get the android market on it and finally get the apps. Video will still be a problem, however if you have nice apps, books, magazines, i guess u won't need to access Amazon Store for videos

Hey, I downloaded the N64oid as well, but the colors are really weird. Some things go totally dark in games, and in Smash Bros, the background screen keeps flashing red with odd colors. I mean, aside from those odd graphical issues with colors and black outs, the games run fine. But, got any idea on how to fix this?

I'm new to rooting and the android community. Just wondering if I can root the KF, install the emulators, android market, etc., and then unroot it while still having access to the changes I made while being able to access Amazon Instant Video.

Ok everybody, I'm hearing the clamoring for a tutorial, but right now it's just not possible. Amazon just sent out an update last week, Version 6.2.1, that breaks root and removes google services and apps. My fire is still running the old version (as I turned off wifi), but new or updated Kindle Fires will not be able to do some of the stuff in this video. Soon, there may be a way to root new Fire devices, but at the moment there is not. Thanks for the patience everyone.

@DaManWitDaPlan I'm running 6.2.1 rooted with google apps and market place working. It was rooted pretty quickly. Theres a thread on XDA forums to point you in the right direction. What I cant figure out is how you got all of those emulators to run smoothly. I tried a couple from the market place and they were terrible. Do you have a link to where I can get the apk's for the emulators you are running in this video?

I got mine on Christmas and in two days I have rooted, installed twrp recovery, and now running cm7 :) I am waiting for a little while for cm9/ICS to become stable.

For those wondering. XDA has very good tutorials on doing this. Rootz wiki has some good ones as well. It involves a bit of command line and file systems gymnastics, so if you have never worked with linux/android before, you will need to be very careful.
