@skikarl I tried a fresh install without any previous allocations of disk space and it asked me to make a partition within the install..just curious why the first part is needed?

i fixed it only with installing win xp 32, however people with win xp 64 bit DONT TRY THIS ECBD , USE ONLY WIN XP 32 BIT it is a hassle in 64 to go back to vista
i wanne kiss u haha that not:P but ty formaking this perfect video :D i m installing wiindows atm if you had vista dont download orbuy with sata dont work u get error
Sounds Great!!!!... I will give that a try soon. Just wanted to ask though, since my PC came pre-installed with Vista, would I need to have all the drivers for XP when I will be in XP boot mode on my PC?
So I assume this would be the same process with XP installed first. I plan to shrink my XP partition with my GParted live CD. I have an 80gig hard drive, so I will shrink XP to about 30. Then I would proceed to install Vista in the remaining ~50 gigs, correct?
@Nakreb1 download it to another part of the drive, not the one u created, ur old vista drive, than u can access the partition from windows xp and grab the driver from the partition u saved it in, but dont save it to my documents, just save it to the C folder
Mother FUCKER... got .. 2 new 4 gigabyte sticks... and 2 brand spanking new Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 ST31000528AS 1TB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache .. oh those babies.. are HOT .. and a dream come true! IF all you ever had was smaller drives. .. so i had my system dual booted worked flawlessly for years... .. installed XP first.. then Vista.. but they wont cooperate... so now .. on day 1.5.. come across this video.. gonna give it a go.. just forgot how .. Thanks man!
@Legendofeddy Double check to see if you have 2 partitions of vista. Like what he did in this video .. On Computer > RightClick> Manage > Under Storage select Disk Management > See what partition you are currently using .. see what partition you are not using.. > Right Click partition you are not using > Delete Volume. Most likely you just have an empty boot loader acting like a ghost partition... That's a bit more complicated to remove but not a big deal at all. Check CNET forums bud.
can you please me a Have Windows Vista HomePremium and i want to do this how will i do the DualBoot and do i just need to buy a XP disc brand new and i have 192GB free so if i want 20GB for Xp can i do that??
The only real snag is that you must have the OEM recovery CD to verify your version of Windows. Apparently upgrades like Win XP Home dont work! So I am SOL. I mean I have an upgrade XP disk but still wont work. What the hell?? My machine came with Vista so I should be able to run both right<<? I purchased them both. Microsoft got the money but ripped off the paying customer! Again WutDHell! Do I have to buy a special OEM XP disk or what?? Please help thank you!
I am running windows vista home premium and when I try to install xp it won't let me. I get this message saying that the version on the cd is older than the version on my system... please help
In my laptop, Vista OS. I used Vista disk manager to create partition and format it and gave it a lable as drive . I can see the partition through Vista, but when I boot to WindowXP CD, I don't see the second partition. Only, I see C: drive. One time I installed XP and wipped off Vista and replaced it with XP. Why I can't see the second partition. I want to install XP with Vista. F.Y.I Vista is per-installed by HP and only I have a recovery DVD. Thanks
I am running windows vista home premium and when I try to install xp it won't let me. I get this message saying that the version on the cd is older than the version on my system... please help thank you
i understand how to do all this except for im going to burn a xp iso disc and i want to keep vista, i understand how to partition the hd but when i get the disc and reboot what do i do to bring up that blue partition screen because in the video it doesnt say how to get there. do i choose boot from cd? can someone please help me to get it installed on the partition so it doesnt overwrite my vista

Once I have XP Installed the system restarts and does not boot at all. The only work around is to insert my vista dvd and do a startup recovery. Am I missing something here? Why wont it boot into XP?
I thought it was a great video but I am now looking to upgrade my windows vista to Windows 7 so if you could come up with a video for that I would love that.
I got a problem when i pressed enter in the first page of the installation. This is wut it says
"Setup did not find any hard disk drives installed in your computer. Make sure any hard disk drives are powered on and properly connected to your computer, and that any disk-related hardware configuration is correct. This may involve running a manufacturer-supplied diagnostic or setup program. Setup cannot continue. To quit Setup, press F3."
Works perfectly!.... good directions.. if you are doing this, make sure both of the partitions are "primary".... i had a problem with this due to me fucking around with other shit... but other than that, these instructions work flawlessly... Thanks again!
Yes, but make sure you format the right partition and install ur OS on it. Just follow the instructions this guy is telling. He told you everything that you need to know in this vid
This is very well detailed and all, but for those people I am very much hands on and have to see exactly what I'm doing so there is no room for error. So if you could make a video that shows the PC screen to where we don't have to squint, pause, write notes, then play. Thanx

You should insert the WindowsXP CD and ensure in BIOS that your computer will start from CD, change the bootable sequence in BIOS (select CD as the first bootable device), I hope this helps,
i had the same problum its becouse your computer has a sata drive xp does not see it so what i did was entered the bios by restarting my computer and pressed the bios enter key witch is f10 yours could be delete
.f8. f2 or another key try them at start up its nothing to do with vista trust. me change your drive type to ide rather then raid or sata witch is not supported in xp and try agin hope this helped : )
Can somebody tell me why when l finished dual booting successfully and my windows XP professional SP3 doesn't have sound and internet? If possible please link me any site that has the drivers for my laptop model (HP Pavilion dv4-1301tx). All help is appreciated.. I really need the XP OS! Thanks alot.
