as if baroque, hell, all opera plots aren't difficult enough as it is to understand without the libretto on hand, and given that most people don't speak english, french, german, italian, etc I don't see why productions feel they need to add other aspects which either detract or create more confusion. A boy soprano for the character of Eros was cute, tough. i agree with you on the music as a whole is fantastic. Rameau is good stuff.
It's a pity that Rameau is not played more often. He fits more in our time than Händel.

Truly beautiful music that, sadly, one rarely gets to hear. Performance equal to the task.
But the stageing. costumes....well, I don't get it.
