  • Woo hoo! 22fret aside .......

  • AWESOME PLANE!

  • truth is u dont see 60 year old trucks operating so why do we continue to operate 60 year old aircraft & risk safety? most aircraft when built have a timeframe limit on them convair doesnt as it was built in the dark ages. cheap ass operators use them because they cant afford proper planes but wil always giv the excuse theres nothing around these days that can do the job a convair does! load of crap

  • @sheetbug Having been a materials manager for an airline that ran CV-240, CV-340, CV-440 and CV-580s I can say that most modern aircraft can't haul the weight on the amount of fuel used as the Convair series. They are real work horses like the C-130. As long as an operator is willing to put the money into quality parts and as long as the mechanics do their job right, these aircraft will out fly most others in their class. You don't see operators using the old DC3/4 aircraft.

  • @CelticArmory sounds like you've been listening to too many accountants. Of course there are newer aircraft around that can haul similar weights as the convairs with even less fuel!. It all boils down to ROI and utilization, you'll also find freighter regulation are slightly less stringent than that of the passengers. Dont get me wrong these were great aircraft but everything has a use by date.

  • I don't understand why planes this old continue to fly?. They would be better off parked in a meseum than continuing to fly and risk safety.

  • @sheetbug You really seem to have your problems with those old birds, you keep writing this quite often. But why should this be a problem? They are old, of course, but they are reliable, economical and robust. Otherwise, there wouldn't be so many operators throughout the world still using them. To me, it makes perfect sense to keep them alive, and I'd love to fly in one of these...

  • @22fret Thats the problem dickheads like you think they're safe because you flown in them as a kid. The reality is everything grows old including yourself, you have no controll over that. If you think old grannies can do a better job than you then let me know as I will never employer your lazy ass

  • @sheetbug OK, I see, you have a lot more problems than I thought. Insulting others for uttering an opinion that might not be yours is surely one of them. Apart from the fact that the stuff you write is for the most part simply rubbish, you should perhaps work on your orthography...

  • HEARST, Ontario.

  • I believe this is the plane that made an emerency landing in Hearts, Ontario. A few months ago.

  • Is this Riviere-aux-Saumons in Anticosti?

  • I have been on Nolinor from Winnipeg to Kaasba and Obre Lake, much better ride than twins and Otters. Excelelent lunch too.

  • did they get off the ground or was that a quick taxi to the end of the runway. Nice dust btw :)

  • FABULOUS!!! Proves that plane is STILL a great asset in any environ

  • Great! More please ;-)
