  • thi is classic of photek, love it!

  • The 7 dislikes were badtripping on drugs hardcoore

  • killer track

  • takes you back, huh?

  • Good memories of throwing down to this back in da day berfore the dark ages of dnb that followed. DnB-Boy.

  • Then the rain came

  • rupert parks is and will always be the man!!!!!!!

  • should be against the law to be this nice!! great upload!

  • whoa dnb that is actually good!!!

  • dope tune!

  • holy shit this is sick

  • Samples Tones On Tail

  • 3:02

    Unbelievabel!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @KillaPat78 ich glaub das

  • this one and ni ten ichi ryu are two of the unique techno songs ever...

  • Yes LAWD!!!!! Classic! Make your bones wanna jump out of your body and dance as you slowly float towards the heavens. :-)

  • This runs

  • An other awesome track that has not been included on the later albums and compilations. I used to think that Smoke Rings, The Fifth Column and The Seven Samurai remix were his best tracks ...until I heard Ni-Ten-Ichi-Ryu and some others like this one.

  • who ever disliked it needs to be placed in a room with no food or water and the only thing to eat is a bowl of "e"s

tune on repeat as a dis respect to the dark dirty beats

  • Still got a bit of the jungle in this bad boy

  • I really do miss the 90's....

  • @aphex187 the 90's were so god damn epic

  • urrhg!!! and its plagued with grammatical errors also.. sorry I would edit my posts, but there is no option to do so.. gdi T___T

  • Whether its hip-hop, jungle, house/garage, the 90's had such an organic sound that we took for granted. It's crispness is perfection. It's beautiful to have the time to really appreciate the classic sound.

  • I should be studying but instead i'm playing this on repeat x_x

  • (((d|^_^|b)))

  • from 1:12 its really weirdy cool passage

  • i have this record, bitches! 1994!

  • @jaeluxx me too brother

  • oi rupert open up your sample bank lets have a go

  • What a classic beauty!!

  • sweet jungle!

  • Oldschool?

This is a great tune and came in the mid 90's.

  • I idolised Photek back in the day. He used to turn up at Metalheadz on a Sunday. Couldn't miss him, he was the ginger ninja who needed more daylight. The Seventh Samurai was his heaviest tune, then he got a big label deal and started making weird downbeat Autechre kinda stuff. He was too far ahead for his own good. Check out Nico on No U Turn for the pinnacle of mid 90s DnB. Neutron is the darkest roller ever. It went downhill soon after that with Jazz Step???!!!. I blame Roni Size and Bukem.

  • @bandolerojamrock still traces liberty one will be one of my favorites its bitter sweet to listen theses days but i still love it and i love bukem he was one of the many reasons i wanted to play. saw him a few times and the vibe was immaculate. strokes for folks though all though i do appreciate the drum funk movement and classic amens

  • @psyne000 you know it great tape i still have my copy just dont play anymore

  • @MrSpacecase35: your kidding, I lost mine, gutted, Danny puts this in with All I need by wax doctor, its crazy, a perfect muiscal balance, only Danny could hit it like that, he has a great ear, pity about Tony...i-o-ning.....lol. easy MrSpacecase35...nice one.

  • dam this is good.

    thanks for the upload.

  • The best spinners can get the first minute blended. It's pretty much a magical tune to add to a mix from the start and rupert gives it to ya.

  • U HIT THE NAIL ON THE HEAD, THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!

You dont know how many times ive said this to people. Your not a real dj if u cant get a mix in within the first mix and keep the mix in time through the whole first song!! Like you said, only the best spinners can do this.

Btw this is a wicked tune

  • Photek is pretty much the best drum n bass producer ever.

  • not recently

  • I disagree.

  • @migraine516 I say it's a tie between Photek, Grooverider and Goldie, but I always favored Photek

  • @migraine516

Ehhhhh. Can you say "Desimal"? Search Desimal - Afterlife

  • @migraine516 yeah man, easy !

  • i saw amon tobin in an interview talking about that artist and just tough lets check it out

to be honest i was thinking i found something less AWESOME as that

  • Um, I didn't understand what you mean.

    Could you explain? :)

  • sorry for my English : 3

well when i was searching this i was expect something good but thats awesome

  • lovin the old school tunes more than ever

  • Man Metalheadz and D'n'B was so sick back in the day, I can't understand how it went from amazing tunes such as this to all that shit that people rave to at the moment...

  • Its called commercialism. Its happens to every single music genre going.

You just have to dig abit deeper.

  • theres still a lot of decent stuff about, just a lot of shite to wade through to find it unfortunately.

  • I totally agree with this and anyone who doesnt is most likely a youngster new to DNB

  • @MorbidCorpse92 i think Metalheadz is one of the only oldschool labels that are still staying true to their sound after all this time.

  • @MorbidCorpse92 what jump up? yeh that is shit but there is some good dnb still bein made today

  • @DnBBoo Jump up is like b-movies to Polanski's or other horror movies to this, but still rocks

  • @MorbidCorpse92 near enough every old school dnb track on youtube has someone moaning about the state of dnb today, theres plenty of amazing new(ish) artists: sabre, alix perez, d bridge, instra:mental and everything on autonomic, spectrasoul, bop, noisia, blu mar ten just to name a few. im not denying that theres alot of shocking dnb atm but the genre as a whole needs to move forward. peace

  • Gonna separate this comment into 4-5 parts so sorry if its unnecessarily long (and doing this for you tube so ...go figure) ... the key word for these recent artists is that they are GOOD but not... GREAT... I think the problem is the token effort a lot of artist seem to show in their work which people seem too content about because its readily available, accessible and unchallenging to the common ear....( 1 /4)

  • I'll admit stuff “The rain”, requires a selected taste and acuity to fully appreciate what goes on in the track, but wasn’t it nice that a small vestige of music was available for music lovers in a underground club as a counterpart and relief against ear worms that plaque the charts? Doesn’t it suck that the only way to hear these artists now is on the web than actively go out and find a collective who you can appreciate the music with ?( or now make due with only “decent” artists (2/4)

  • ..... at the moment dnb and other electronic artists attempt to twick their sound so it appeals to a mass audience ( which is good.. and bad....) so nothing irks anybody.. which has the flipside of homogenising their sound to share more and more parallels with mainstream sensibilities.... but isn’t it boring if music becomes a strategy to maintain a stable plethora of fans than a way to and create something unique that makes your hair stand on end?.. (3 /4 )

  • your right though... the genre does need to move forward, but in a way that betters their predecessors and not just below par which, I am sorry, but new artist DO NOT aspire to do , and cannot do cause that doesn’t result in a stable income.. the scene is still alive.. but as a mere shadow of what it used to be.. and until someone comes along that is willing to push boundaries rather than add to the status quo.. then that’s all it will be..(4/4)

  • @liamjd1 eep this was all meant to be a response to liamjd... soz to confuse you all >.>

  • @MorbidCorpse92 dude lol. raves are cool the music is nice most of the time, you should appreciate what it was and appreciate what it has become.

  • @MorbidCorpse92

Trends change, artists get harder to discover, but life will move on regardless. The best thing about music is once it's been produced, we have it forever. Just do what I do and continue listening to these classic tunes, but also deep-search Youtube and other sites such as Discogs for artists you may have never heard before. Just because we live in a day where the soul has seemingly disappeared doesn't mean there aren't still examples of artists keeping the torch burning.

  • @MorbidCorpse92

If it weren't for Youtube, I would have never discovered artists like Fanu or Seba. It's a great tool, so that makes it even more aggravating when corporations like WMG take down songs out of videos. They should be happy that people are becoming exposed to great tunes. IMO, it creates MORE demand and MORE of a willingness to search out and buy your favorite music.

  • @TheReapersSon Right. Those corporate douchebags don't care about music rather their own self interest.

  • @TheReapersSon

Im one who can agree with your comment. Without Youtube,i would NEVER Know the world of Electronic Music,as im from a South American country, and would lose the chance to know Beauties from Techno/Jungle/Acid/Drum n Bass and many others.

  • @eduds6 But you have so much cocaine in South America. Can't you trade in the cocaine for good music or are you just stuck with cocaine? You shouldn't complain. You have very affordable cocaine. You bitch too much.

  • @bongrocker

Lol,I Cant say anything but laugh mate,Cocaine is mostly planted in Colombia and Bolivia, here in Brazil we are mostly consumers,:P

  • @eduds6 hehe, thank god for Youtube then yea? I went looking through my old CDs last night and found Photek - Forum and Function. I don't think there's a bad track on it except maybe Santiago, but that one just isn't my style. Best Photek tracks - Knitevision, UFO, The Water Margin, and Rings Around Saturn. Check 'em out, bro

  • @bongrocker

    Ok,i wanna take a look at them,thanks.

  • @bongrocker

  • @MorbidCorpse92

you obviously ent hitting the righth parties or following the right labels.

  • @MorbidCorpse92

You obviously ent hitting the right parties or following the right labels.

Big tune tho, tek and the headz always bring the goods ;)

  • @MorbidCorpse92 ABSOLUTELY.

  • @MorbidCorpse92 Things change, get over it. DnB was amazing back then but there's so much innovative ground breaking music being played at the raves right now.

  • @edgelife7

Hey, I'm pretty out of the loop. Can you link something that you would consider innovative and groundbreaking and is current? Thx!

  • @l1n3n01z Anything by Icicle or Sabre and even something more recognised by the likes of Noisia. Personally think that Instra:mental have the most interesting beats these days.

  • @edgelife7 rockwell's pretty cool

  • @l1n3n01z

    i'd say noisia VSN010 and VSN011

i'm hearing some very interesting things on this label 'Neosignal', try this song CCTV

yeah and definatly Instra:mental - cant go wrong

  • @edgelife7 Boddika is killing it this year!

  • @edgelife7

The reality is that genres never die,or dissapear. They just can lost its edge or Stay in a lesser popularity. The problem,as others stated,is that DnB(Not only it,but current Jungle also, look at the shit that Some Pseudo-Ragga producers from North America throw on the sciene) is deterioraing on its quality since about Early-Mid 2000's,in a unstoppable way.. The same thing about Techno and Minimal,2 genres that are losing their quality rapidly and being outshadowed by Barghain.

  • photek #1

  • Okay I've allowed embedding again so everybody please stop whining about it already. For fuck sake. The only reason I disabled the embedding in first place was to lessen the change of the track being taken down because of copyright claims. Allowing it to be embedded would make it available on other sites besides youtube thus more vulnerable to possible copyright claims.

  • Cheers mate, saved me needing to upload it :)

  • 5* great tune, I have put one of my songs as a video response because I created it after listening to many Photek songs. It is not meant to sound like Photek just inspired by him but it is definatley jungle :)

  • machinemusic

  • It really doesnt mate...

  • no, goldie wishes he sounded like photek. goldie hasnt got shit on photek.

  • lol, goldie isn't fit to lace his boots.
