You can change the gearing ratio, so the bike will do a little more RPM in 6th gear, and therefore, it will put out an even higher value, although, of course the topspeed is even less when it is geared.

I own a 2004 gsxr 1000 and i have been 175 with a gps in my pocket to confirm it and i hadnt redlined yet, these bikes can almost hit 170 in 5th gear!
@kingchriskong I have a 2007 GSXR1000 with stock gears and I hit 174 in 5th gear with more RPM's to go... Didn't have a gps to prove it but I have to ask, there is no way you are looking at a gps in your pocket if your doing anything over 160... According to the video above he was in the 180s before he even shifted to 6th and with as much RPM's I had left in 5th when I did 174 I believe this is stock gearing...

The gearing does make a big difference to the indicated speed, the speed is picked up by a sensor on the gearbox. Down gear it, and she we read well high of actual.
you have i geared down... thats why your topping out... i do top speed on my r1... the yellow lines on the road should be flying by alot faster.... specially if he is doing 186***

@botman1 with the bikes with 8 injectors i guess it doesn't do a whole lot. the 04 and older gsxr's benefit more from what i hear. but it does get rid of your top speed limiter
@botman1 the PC3 is only worthless if you don't make use of it's functions. if you actually dyno tune your bike with it it will help, if you have mods to your bike it will help a lot. if you just use the base maps off the dynojet site it won't do squat.

They sometimes factory restrict them to 186, and also whats wrong with your gear indicator, I may be mistaken but it looked like it said "5" for that whole run.

There is no fastest on the twisty bits bike as it is all down to the rider, if they both are on bikes built in the last 7 years (on public roads). Most riders would be just as fast on a 7 year old bike as the newest because the improvements are only noticeable to a pro rider on a race track. I've met some really crap riders on bikes that were a lot newer than what I was riding. Some people think that if they have the so called best handling bike that it makes them a good/fast rider.

I lived in panama city while i was in the air force and everyweek i would take my 2004 gsxr 750 and see the same exact thing squeesing down on the tank with my head looking foward, and theres only few places in the usa you can get away doing this speed and these type of flat roads with forrest and no mountains lol.
no the power commander will not bypass the speed limiter, if that's what you're saying. the TRE will bypass the speed limiter, and i had that installed during this run.
the TRE was on. the TRE makes no difference in power at full throttle. it only removes the 6th gear speed limiter by fooling the bike into thinking it's in 5th gear all the time. without it on it just hits 186 and doesn't rev anymore.
That would explain the gps most guys use to verify speed. I have a gsxr 600 and am planning on moving up to a 1000 this year. I will have to remember this for one of my mods =P thankx
well, factory speedo is way off too. i think mine is off by about 7%. some are even more. so when it first hits an indicated 186 i'm only doing about 173. at the end of the video i'm around 186 on radar. I was actually thinking of selling my 1000 for a 600 lol. they handle better.
I have a k6 GSXR 750, and buddy, I think its the best of both worlds. Its got almost as much speed and power as the 1000's, if your a good rider you should easily be able to keep up with or beaten many of them, and it handles like a 600. My bike only weighs 356 lbs. My friends have a triumph 675, an fz6, an r6, and a zx6; handling and turns i have no problems at all. The 1000's are a little beefy and they honestly don't handle as well. Go for the 750!!!

yes, it will. it should make more of a difference for partial throttle than it does on my bike. i guess the bike's without a secondary throttle body benefit more from a TRE, but all of them will have the speed limiter removed. atleast up to 06. the 07+ has a different setup for the gears i believe.
the TRE does not have as much of an impact on the GSXR's with the secondary throttle bodies, which mine has. 04 and older only have 1 set and i guess it's more noticeable. i mainly wanted to get rid of the speed limiter.
limter was off. the speedo will not read higher than 186 no matter what. it was going as fast as it'd go, or at least close to it. mid 180's on radar.

The gearing does make a big difference to the indicated speed, the speed is picked up by a sensor on the gearbox. Down gear it, and she we read well high of actual.

you are wrong. gearing down the bike will trick your speedo into thinking your going faster when your not...
i had this on both my 2000 r1 and on my 2003 cbr 600rr....
because the speedo is based off of your gear selection * rpm... = speed.
if you gear it down... you have higher rpm for the same gear, and it thinks its cuz your going that actual speed...
when in reality its not.

There is no fastest on the twisty bits bike as it is all down to the rider, if they both are on bikes built in the last 7 years (on public roads). Most riders would be just as fast on a 7 year old bike as the newest because the improvements are only noticeable to a pro rider on a race track. I've met some really crap riders on bikes that were a lot newer than what I was riding. Some people think that if they have the so called best handling bike that it makes them a good/fast rider.

I lived in panama city while i was in the air force and everyweek i would take my 2004 gsxr 750 and see the same exact thing squeesing down on the tank with my head looking foward, and theres only few places in the usa you can get away doing this speed and these type of flat roads with forrest and no mountains lol.

the TRE was on. the TRE makes no difference in power at full throttle. it only removes the 6th gear speed limiter by fooling the bike into thinking it's in 5th gear all the time. without it on it just hits 186 and doesn't rev anymore.

well, factory speedo is way off too. i think mine is off by about 7%. some are even more. so when it first hits an indicated 186 i'm only doing about 173. at the end of the video i'm around 186 on radar. I was actually thinking of selling my 1000 for a 600 lol. they handle better.

I have a k6 GSXR 750, and buddy, I think its the best of both worlds. Its got almost as much speed and power as the 1000's, if your a good rider you should easily be able to keep up with or beaten many of them, and it handles like a 600. My bike only weighs 356 lbs. My friends have a triumph 675, an fz6, an r6, and a zx6; handling and turns i have no problems at all. The 1000's are a little beefy and they honestly don't handle as well. Go for the 750!!!

I have owned a K4 GSX-R750, a K4 Hayabusa and my current bike is a K7 GSX-R1000 (full MICRON Moto GP exhaust, Scotts stabilizer, PCIII, Heal Tech TRE, est......Smither's Customs in Kansas City dynoed her at 176 RWHP) Anyway, all that bullshit set aside, the 750 and 1000 are a world apart in the mid-range. Nathan, if 750's were superior to 1000's, they would be racing them against 1000's in AMA, est.

@Julius314159 seriously? Now you? Where in any of my comments did I say anything superiority of the 750 over the 1000?? I never did. My argument was simply this: put a good rider on the 750, and he WILL run with the 1000's. Obviously in the race classes, all of the riders are superior, thus it would make no sense to ride a 750 against other superior riders on 1000's. My original comment was that a 750 was the happy medium between a 600 and a 1000.

@nathanielstephenbaue You are completely right. A good rider on a 750 will run with a 1000 easily. Take a 600 to the track, and run against a 1000 and if the 600 has a far better rider he will walk the 1000. Straight line of course not, but in the twisties it is all in the hands of the rider. Superior horsepower is not always the answer. Any idiot can go fast straight, but the real riders show in the curves. Happy riding bud!

thats what i figured. So. You go "fast" from stop sign to stop sign, red light to red light. Then, for a change of pace, you hit the highway. Ya. At this point, I would be confident with you on your 1000, and me on a 600. You would'nt be able to handle where we ride.

are you kidding me? A 1000 has 140-148 hp? My 03 1000 dynoed STOCK @ 153rwhp. My 06 dynoed @ 162.6 STOCK!! But I guess the dyno lies just like you. Call Orient Express in Freeport NY and they will put you in your place. Stock 1000's with ZERO miles are in the mid 160 range. Not even broken in. Call them. The first year the 1000's came out were in the mid 140's.

well, factory speedo is way off too. i think mine is off by about 7%. some are even more. so when it first hits an indicated 186 i'm only doing about 173. at the end of the video i'm around 186 on radar.

Nice video! who cares what the speedo is saying or how close it is. it was maxed out in 5th at 186 then 6th and still pulled. Yeah I would say your are deep in the 180's not bad at all for the gearing being stock and put my little 140 ib ass on it:) That TRE will it work on my 01 gsxr 1000?

yes, it will. it should make more of a difference for partial throttle than it does on my bike. i guess the bike's without a secondary throttle body benefit more from a TRE, but all of them will have the speed limiter removed. atleast up to 06. the 07+ has a different setup for the gears i believe.

the TRE does not have as much of an impact on the GSXR's with the secondary throttle bodies, which mine has. 04 and older only have 1 set and i guess it's more noticeable. i mainly wanted to get rid of the speed limiter.

limter was off. the speedo will not read higher than 186 no matter what. it was going as fast as it'd go, or at least close to it. mid 180's on radar.
