Their should be the same ancient right for people in Scotland to be tried by their fellow subjects, as in the rest of the country. Well you'd be wrong to swear. Scotland is very different to England. We have our own laws, or own education system, our own culture, our own government.

And having travelled to France, the USA and Canada, I can tell you that the Scottish flag is well known in all three.

In France the Scots are remembered as the old allies, and after two recent defeats by the Scottish football team, I don't think they'll forget the Saltire OR the Lion Rampant any time soon.

The Canadians have a province called Nova Scotia, New Scotland, which has a flag made up from both the Scottish flags. There are millions of Canadians of direct Scots ancestry.

There are a lot of people in the US who don't know anything about Scotland, but there are a lot of people in the US who couldn't point out their own country on a map.
