  • i only see 3

  • the least i will ever go in the woods with is a bandana and a knife.

ofcourse water and matches would make life easier.

  • a mpk, water bottle and a tv lol

  • fantastic job , keeping it simple yet effective.

  • I have 3 different knives + machete/saw :D

    Thumbs up video!!

  • I would add a Magnifying Glass to save my resorces.Sun is free and you can start endless fires with it and save your Ferro Rod.

  • another bandana use - for soaking up the dew off vegetation in the morning and wringing it out into a water container to access water if u dont have fresh water close by.

  • love the tips; The fab '4'.. thanks.

  • Anyone have any experience with a Glock 78 or a Glock 81 knife for duties described in the video?

  • Mine would be the same but I would need means to get meat.....

  • Mora or muela knifes is my choice

  • my 4 are my letherman multi tool,my multi tool shovel, firesteel, and some type of water purifying system

  • @roboitoe88 well were is the water going to go? maybe you should rethink your kit if thats what your going with

  • @M0RTaLK0MBaT68 the purifyer holds the water

  • i like more ideas and less gear better too..i like mora knives too..lauri knives are almost the same knives..they are thicker and a little bit stronger..but the mora knives are cheap and good quality knives..good video..thanx..

  • thats a nice kit id trust myself in the woods with that and the bandana for traps for setain animals

  • thats a nice kit id trust myself in the woods with that

  • im not gonna take knife tips from a guy with a plaster on his thumb...

  • I just got that mora at a gunshow and its SOOO sharp and a peice of work for $17.50

  • bare min, is a r v

  • Do you ever fucking shut up and get to the point?

  • i agree with your items but you are what i call a question asker, you ask a question and from that one question bring out a lot of obvious info

i would really prefer if people just get straight to the point instead of dragging it out

  • you can boil in a nalgene, and if not, you can always pastuerize, and the nalgene bottle is lighter.

  • I might add just one item to that: a small stone or rod to sharpen the knife. I've seen video of Bear Grylls making a knife "sharpener" out of a stick and some crushed rock, but it looked to me like it would expend too much energy best used for something else and I'm not convinced it would work so well anyway. A small sharpening tool wouldn't take up too much space and could be very useful. A knife won't build much of anything once it dulls.

  • Did you cut yourself when recording this video? ;D

  • where did you get a 2x2 bandana? the only ones ive seen are like 1x1 at like walmart hahaha

  • i have a mora as well and i love it.

and like i say its not how big it is its how you use it.

    great vid.

  • ....carry at all times, but I do keep it with my pack and my pack is always within 30ft even in my everyday life. I also carry an EDC with any and all that I need. It is basically my pack, only smaller. Once your items become a part of you, you then realize that you carry less than you first thought

  • @Caveman0713 Very true i do the same.

  • I like the choices in your 4 items, I too carry these same items but I dont count my knife as a separate item from myself, I always carry my knife unless I'm going into a government building. Nor do I count my bandanas separate from myself because if I'm wearing clothes my bandana is with me. I do carry my ferro rod/striker with me on a key chain, but that was after I realized that friction fires cant always be accomplished(hurricane rain) The bottle is about the only item I don't......

  • looks like u batonned through ur finger

  • It is a MORA not "Morris" and it is NOT carbon steel as you say it is a Military Mora "G" Model Stainless and that is why the edge is "Soft" as you say.

  • @spiavsspia I have a Mora and it is carbon steel. I cant vouche for irishguy80's knife but I can for my own. I have had my knife for going on 6yrs now and I dont have any niks in my blade. I have even used it to dig small holes. I have abused my knife, like I do with all my knives but if they cant survive the overkill of abuse I put them through then they aren't worth having, IMHO. I also carry a larger 13" blade for chopping limbs and(from carrying it for so long) I hardly feel the weight.

  • awesome vid great advise!!!! and i love the moras too, great knives. lol great knives

  • I LOVE THE WOODS!!!!!! i live in a caben 4 miles in the woods No Joke...

  • DOGGY!! 5:42

  • since you carry the bottle should you not fill it with more survival stuff? like thin wire for snares, first aid stuff water purifaction tabs small fishing gear set up.

  • @empty380 That is one way of going about it but if you are going on a 2 or 3 hr trek it would be lighter to not carry all the extra weight. However if it were to become a survival situation, you would have to go without all those creature comforts and rely more on your skills than your tools. Also, most people fill their canteens/bottles before going on a trek so you couldn't carry all those extras, but you could put some in your pockets.

  • i just gotta say, lighters are seriously useful even if they have no fluid! its the same thing as a flint stick after the fluid is gone, just take a sock, spray it bodyspray or soak it in petrolium based products and flick the lighter a few times.

and by the way, old clothes. make 2 bandanas from one shirt, use the rest for charcloth, i have about 16 bandanas XD i like to have variety in color :P depending on seasons.

  • @501poundmiget if you go to ranger rick's website(just look up ranger rick on google) he shows how to turn an old bic lighter into a "two finger fire starter". I made one but I still carry a ferro rod/striker and a flint/steel kit with me just in case. I dont carry any body spray into the woods(I aint trying to smell good for the trees). I too, make my bandanas from old shirts and have different colors but not for visual signalling. They are color coded.

  • Excellent choice of firemaking tool. Lights in any weather with a piece of birch-bark.

  • Good quality video, but you're putting me to sleep. Zzzzz...

  • ONLY 3 THINGS: knife, rope, lighter/matches

  • @nejkolo thats a little vague. Try being a bit more specific. Some knives are superior to others for different reasons others pick up the slack in other ways, so be a bit more specific and feel free to ask the constructive opinions of your fellow outdoorsmen. Again you need to be specific, what kind of rope? Nylon, hemp 550 paracord? Same as the knives, some types are better than others. As for lighters/matches, either can do, but they are rarely a fail safe, a ferro rod/striker would be a start

  • you should pack nail clippers

  • @andthemanv I have to ask, just what would the purpose of nail clippers be, other than foot care? Though it is a rule that you must take care of your feet if you wish to survive, I can use irishguy80's same 4 items partnered with knowledge that my fellow woodsmen have shared over the yrs to combat most if not all foot related problems. Please let me know your reason for nail clippers.

  • You're talking survival, not a lifetime. The firesteel is nice but there is nothing wrong with a Sportsman lighter. It's wind proof and water resistant. You'll get PLENTY of uses out of it before the gas is out and it will save you some grief getting a fire started.

  • Great vid. The dog was a great addition. :D

  • id replace the bandana with para cord and ur ferro rod with a strike force with wet fire cube in the back but i mean u work with what u have

  • Really not trying to e rude but damn work on your presentation befor you hit record! Too many people just rant and ramble on and on and on......... Hard to finish watching you video when you ramble on so. Cut down your info to the pertinant stuff and practice before you hit record. Seems like your just talking to yourself for over ten mins, and its very boreing and hard to listen to. Just some constructive criticism.

  • 1.) Campfire charcoal does not induce vomiting. You are thinking of ACTIVATED charcoal, which is a powder made from wood or other materials that have been exposed to very high temperatures in an airless environment.

2.) Vomiting does not expel poisons from your system. By the time you feel the effect of the poison, that means that the poison has entered your bloodstream, in which-case, throwing up will do nothing.

  • charcoal absorbs poisons chemical its not to induce vomiting.

you can use it to filter water also

  • weave a few branches and stuff together using that twine material usually hanging from trees and throw that stuff over there so if in a rain-type enviroment but wat i would take varies from place to place let me kno wat u think of my items:DDDD

  • i would prolly go with a knife, steel canister like yours,a flint well its not really a flint its the cool ass thing where u can strike it over 1000 times and it will still work its like a match and u just keep using it like a reg match it works wen wet and stuff also its like steel of somesort i think??? not sure but u should deff. check it out if u havent herd about it!!!, and a hammock because i feel so much safer with one because i dont have to worry about building a shelter and stuff just...

  • this is just a lil fyi cuz it seemed like wen u said u cant boil water in a bottle did u mean a plastic water bottle? cuz if u did then u can it was on the show "survivorman" u can search it on youtube if u want to learn how to do it

  • random ass dog at 5:44 hahahaha

  • i thought charcoal prevents puking (?)

  • New subscriber here... Thanks for the informative video about the charcoal to make you puke how much do you eat to clean your stomach?? Thanks for the info

  • it varies by person. IF you think you have ingested something bad just eat very small amount then wait a few if you havent hurled eat a little more.

Thanks for the sub. Thank you

  • K got it thanks for the reply

  • I have used the 711G alot and trust that knife. I have used the 911 quaite a bit as well. I think the 911 has just a little more comfortable handle. the sheath is better on the 911 also, You get a swivel belt clip on the 911. I recently got a 840mg but I havent used it yet. I would deffinatley recommend a 711G or the 911. both models come in both steels so read th disription to make sure you get the steel you want. Hope this helps

  • you might like the video "splitting a log with small knife"

  • I will have to check that out.

    Thanks

  • The Rucksack has a wood saw, no real need to baton. You could baton with the blade if you kept it unlocked, but why risk it? The Mora knife is good knife but I wouldn't risk batoning with it either if it was my only knife.

  • I see your point.

    Thanks

  • Thanks for the vid.

    Well thought out choices!

I would go with a Vic. Rucksack instead of a mora.

And for fire, a Blastmatch with a couple of mini-bics as a back up.

I would also like to have a whistle and a cell phone for signaling.

I would also want to bring aspirin, antihistamines, imodium and some water purification tabs.

Some duct tape, paracord and safety pins are great for repairs.

I also like to have an emergency poncho and or a trash bag or heat sheet blanket for shelter.

  • That sounds like a good kit, but the one question I have is are you going to be able to baton with a vic rucksack. Dont get me wrong a rucksack is a great knife but a folding knife wouldnt be my first choice. it would be a good addition to a fixed blade.

    Thanks for the comment

  • You will never hear me complain about a moras quality! Nice video! 5/5

  • Thanks

  • The 32 ounce Guyot bottle is a little bit narrower at the bottom and about 1/8 inch shorter. I think that is due to the difference in caps. The 38 ounce guyot bottle is the same height and diameter as a regular nalgene.

  • I agree with your four choices. I personally would choose a more stout knife though. I love the moras but a larger sturdier knife has more capabilities. I like your vids. I need to start making my own!

  • Thanks for the comment

  • I like the selection. My only substitution would be my leatherman surge or my bark river canadian. It is a difficult cjoice because I love them both. I have a mora 840 from the UK. Good knife.

  • You dont have to have just 4 items take em both if that is what you are comfortable with. I need to try out a bark river knife, I have heard alot of good things about em.

  • Yeah a bandana is basically weightless but it has limitless uses. You're right a swiss army knife or multitool would be a good addition. I am a mora fanatic, I just ordered a 911 I cant wait to test it out.

    Thanks for the comment.

  • i've never had a bandana but i should pick one up. i'd add my victorinox hunter if i was using this kit and make it a five piece. also great idea with the peice of elastic never thought of that, i absolutly love my mora they are very versitlile.
