You know that rare state of awe where your jaw automatically drops and your eyes grow wide and taught. your at that moment where at any second you could begin to tear. Im astonished, can just blew my mind. Thx record store clek guy
Edward Mcnairn, my cousin! Thank you for introducing me to can in 1990 under the best of influences and habitats!! The stories can not be reproduced or the music reinvented. Peace
I remember at the time of the MUTE RECORDS reissues of the Can albums around 1990, Kurt Loder plugged those on MTV. For once MTV got a real taste of ALTERNATIVE!
I just picked up a copy of "Tago Mago" the other day. And people think "Dark Side Of The Moon" is a trip?!?! There were parts of the album where I was sure my soul left my body temporarily!
NICK McCABE of THE VERVE...will PLAY a special set with DAMO SUZUKI of CAN on THURSDAY, the 2nd of APRIL in MANCHESTER!!!
Don't miss NICK McCABE at MARQUEE CLUB @ NIGHT & DAY CAFE with Damo Suzuki of legendary CAN featuring Mark Heaney on Drums and Jeff Wootton on Bass !!!
Ahh Can... If there was no Can there wouldnt be Radiohead, Sonic youth, Tool & many more existing bands that make difference in pile of wothless junk.
I'm German and I know (and love) Can since TAGO MAGO. But we all have to accept that bands like Can never will attract a greater audience. Have e.g. PeterHammill/VdGG or Caravan the deserved popularity at home in the UK ?
I´m german, living in germany. I do know can and all my friends know can too. some years ago i had the chance to jam with damo and usual insanity in Neuss. thx damo. that was a great experience!
I don't know all Can's stuff, but am totally transfixed by Liebezeit's drumming - especially on this song. But he is killer all over the album _Tago Mago_. Drums for robot sacrificial rituals.
In reply to lesonyrra, yeh his drumming is awesome! I saw them play live many times in the early 70's and it was such a buzz watching him play. He has been voted top drummer in Germany in the past. Sadly, Michael Karoli passed away some years ago. I met him backstage at the "Greyhound" venue in Croydon and he was a genuinely nice guy.
Liebezeit's drumming is fantastic! if you like this, listen to Halleluwah.. I can't get enough of that amazing 18 minute track. Listen, and you will want to take up drumming yourself (if you don't already drum).
It was part of the 'Artists Choose' programme, this is from mid-2001 I think. The band was the much-missed Alfie, and one of their other choices was The Flaming Lips' 'Race For The Prize', as memory serves...
it was on about 10 years ago in Britain. For a while they had a bunch of unusual videos that'd play on a loop. Then people like Zane Lowe turned up and all the videos disappeared!

@a4ndr3c yes, their first album did come out in 1969, however, this is not on that album, it's on Tago Mago, which was in fact released in 1971.
