As a life-long torotonian and 20-something, I can remember hearing about a few different twisters near Toronto over the past few years.

our house wasn't hit too bad, but my friend was home alone in durham when the tornado came through. it went down her street, split into 3 parts, and dissappeard. when she called me later she was in hysterics. it was crazy! and i found a squirrel hiding in my garage afterwards. smart squirrel :)

I was amazed how fast it hit, I was at the computer and I looked outside and saw some of the gray clouds coming... So I figured I'd have a smoke, I went to use the restroom quick, came back out a minute later and I swear most of the trees were bending over from the wind and rain... It literally went from a little gray outside to wicked nasty outside in a matter of a minute or two.
