These are not rated at 200 lbs. it's a guide number. put one end on a weight scale that you would weigh your self. The 200 only needs 54 pounds of force to close it. I really dont know why they rate it at 200.
These are hard as HELL!!! I got the GNC power grips and they are harder than my old plastic ones, no duhhhhh! But I thought my old ones were 100 lbs and i could do 100 reps of those easily. I can barely do one of these w/o using all force needed, and I consider myself kinda strong, especially not weak!!
@hughesn0835 Nice man, I haven't been training much at all lately, no time or energy but I really want to get back into them and work up a few sets :)
Hey nice i want buy one too just 100lb at start :P.Where can i buy one ?how long you waited till it arrived? Can you pm me link where can i get one of those?
@sraigiuss There seems to be a lot of different brands but I'm not the guy to ask! I just got the one and pick it up time to time, I never got too serious :p
Check out my buddy ocarinatycoon! He helped me pick mine :)
I got mine from ebay though and for only about 25-35 bucks Canadian
@sraigiuss you can get him from leehayward[dot]com you can get them really cheap right now i got 6 100 150 200 250 300 350lbs for 77 dollars with shipping was 95 i think
Well I'd warm up by just doing some reps with a lighter gripper first. Not too many though.
If you don't have a lighter gripper then just stretch out properly, wiggle your hands about, do whatever just to get the blood flowing. Just make sure your hand isn't sweaty when trying to close the gripper.
As for setting it, just stick "heavy grips" into the search bar and the first result is a video of a guy called Lee Hayward and he'll show you how to set it in your hand properly.
I always wanted an extra powerful grip. I got a fairly good one already, but I have this superstition that if I strengthen my grip too much i'd crush my ocarina on accident somehow. My grip has been called a "snake bite" before, but wow... 200 lbs? I wonder if I could do that much. XD
Well, I was in the same state of mind! I always considered my grip to be pretty decent and find many handshakes to remind me of little girls:p Hahaha...anyways, I thought 150 would be a good starting place but the 200 was just such a good deal I went for it and now after trying it, this is a good spot to start! But I hear you! Escpecially making the ocarina, soft flimsy clay half shaped and *SMOOSH* "AH NOT AGAIN!" haha that'd be a pain!!!
Hey, that was really close! RIght out of the package too, so it is legitimate :-D You'll have that closed in no time flat!
Ah, and thanks for the name drop there, it's real cool to know that I was able to help you out in making your decision :-D I don't know how any times I can close the HG20 now, I'll have to make a video, man.
Once again, congrats on almost closing it straight on  I hope to see you progress well!
Hey! Giving you a name drop is all I can do to give you thanks! You've given me tons of help and without being subscribed to you and all the info you gave me I probably wouldn't have even thought about this! It seems like it's going to be a lot of fun getting into! You just have to love having that extra strong grip when you give someone a handshake and see their eyes pop out a little :)
There's plenty of information out there. You just have to look around for interesting things once in a while :-D These have been fun, though my "training" routine is just randomly squeezing the hardest grippers I have pretty much every other day throughout the day. I guess it works, because I closed the COC #2.5 on the first day I got them. :-) Hard work and patience works well :-D
I just made another video explaining it so you'll have to check it out! I can't exactly say because for me, to consider it a rep, each close would have to be complete. That being said, check out my new vid:p

holding it wrong.

Yeah I'm not really surprised, this being my first try with it.
But still to this day, maybe I'm holding it wrong.
How does one hold it right?
massieko 2 years ago
@steveWOW1 What's wrong for one may be right for another. I've seen it held in different ways depending on one's hand.
helix787 1 year ago
@helix787
Nah watch Lee Hayward's video on building hand strength...there is 1 correct way to hold it to get a complete close.
steveWOW1 1 year ago
@steveWOW1 You obviously don't grip train much.
filcox 1 year ago
If you warmed up first and set it in your hand properly then you would have had that closed for sure.
headcaseman 2 years ago
Hey thanks! I hadn't noticed this comment!
It felt odd in my hand, so I'm not surprised I had it improperly positioned.
Just curious, how abouts would you warm up the hand?

Petey : Wow , u got very relaxed muscles I could barely do it on a 200.
