You have to admit that it's a perfect end for the Stargate franchise, the music is just a masterpiece, everything's shutting down. The last part, where Eli is smiling touch me everytime. Despite all the pain he's happy to be there, and enjoy it for (maybe?) the last time. I really hope there would be another season, SGU was my favorite. But if there wasn't, they couldn't find a more perfect way to end it, in FTL, at the border of the universe, starring at his vastness and beauty :)

there is no reason to boycott syfy... because there is simply no reason to watch the channel... I mean it used to be sciffy stuff like stargate and the like... but at least it kinda resembled science fiction, even if it wasn't especially good science fiction... but now it is not even sciffy... ghost hunters, reality shows, professional wrestling, etc... syfy has become to science fiction what Mtv has become to music... garbage not even related to what it is supposed to be showing

The SyFy Fake Wrestlin' Channel sucks. This is the last show I watched on the "SciFi" Channel. If I wanted to watch fake wrestlin', I'd turn to one of the uneducated hillbilly channels.
The end of an awesome Franchise! The music and the scene make me cry every time! I need to think back to SG-1 and Atlantis, how everything starts. We had awesome years with all shows and characters. But everything comes to and end, somewhen. The music just hurts me in the heart, but even if the shows are over, im 100% sure that "Stargate" isn't dead forever... somewhen some producers will take it back to live...
@Elijan1996 Sadly, yes. Mixture of changing to Monday and Tuesday nights it being yoyo'd around the schedule, instead of the Stargate slot that has always been Fridays. Also the militant SG Atlantis fans it was cancelled.
I loved SGU. Maybe not as much as the other SGs, but I still loved it. Stargate not only introduced me into Sci-Fi, but also really got me interested into science, and space. (Really, no I check the NASA website and youtube/facebook pages all the time, daily.) I wish they would bring back SGU. Some episodes were boring but others were just epic. Especially this one.
@AirSOFTLOVER12 I actually like this show more than Atlantis. I know I'm in the minority there. Given it only had 1.? million viewers when it was cancelled. The franchise had a similar effect on me. I don't think there was ever a boring episode. Just ones that had parts that dragged. End of Air 3, Earth, Bits in Darkness and Light, Water.
@ActuallyLiam Personaly I liked SG-1 over them all, then SG:A, then SG:U. I really think if the SGU would have gone on for more seasons, it would have been better than SGA (In my opinion), but since they canceled it so soon it didn't. It's still a very good show, & I love the story line. I really love it when they learn new things about the Alterans. And I am extremely sad to say, I've never seen the original SG movie. I started watching SG on Netflix, they didn't have it then.. :(
I have taken this ending to heart deeply. In my mind Stargate can not end. To me Stargate has become more of an idea than a series. One of many examinations of the human condition that, to me stands out from the rest. Stargate changed my life. It opened my mind to wonders and impossibilities that I refuse to let diminish in splendor. In this Ending I am Eli and after growing from the age of 7 to my current age of 21 I now face the future unknown void with out stargate to continue to inspire me.
@xavior54 They could have gated to anywhere in the Milky Way or Pegasus galaxy. What if the ninth chevron took them to a hostile world with an unbreathable atmosphere? What Rush did was beyond reckless.

for everybody asking what is actually going on. The crew detected those master drone ships at every stargate they can go to for supplies in the galaxy. Their solution is to go out beyond the galaxy they are in by using one continuous FTL jump, which will take 3 years to do. So the entire crew is to be put into statis for the duration of the trip. After all but these 3 are left to be put into stasis.
@xavior54 Eli had been working on the last pod which was malfunctioning but was unable to fix it in time. He states that if one person shuts everything down but minimal life support, someone would have 2 weeks to fix the pod before affecting the FTL drive. The Col doesnt trust Rush but Eli volunteers anyways because he feels he has the best chance at fixing it. This is how it ends as there was supposed to be a movie made to wrap it up but due to time constraints it was never done.

There is no way back to the Milky Way, at least not for Destiny. The Crew could easily get home actually. Earth has the Asgards Knowledge and can clone Bodys. Make a cloned body with a blank slate on Earth and let the Crewmembers use that to switch bodies with.

This scene brought a few tears to my eyes. Not because its the end of SGU. But because when I saw this. I realized that it was the end of the amazing phenomenon that is Stargate. Something that has been the most influential thing on my life, for the majority of my life. Ever since I was 12 years old I've loved Stargate. The entire concept, the complex back story that slowly evolved. And even greater then that, one of the best stories telling of the human condition.
From what I've learned SGU was not cancelled due to ratings as it was only .01% under what was expected. MGM was in severe financial difficulies with a reported $3.5 billion in debts. Many projects had to be cancelled & TV projects were among the 1st to go as they brought in fewer returns in the short run than films. They wouldn't release the rights to another production company as that would have meant releasing the rights to the entire francise.
@steviedb7 I hadnt heard that reason. That makes alot of sense. I always thought that it was doing the best it could on SyFy as far as ratings. Cable channels always seem to get lower ratings on average then the Big Four in the US do.

This show was a tragedy; not because it was canceled, but because it was never as good as it could have been. I've watched the Kino episodes, they showed character development and personality quirks, they showed how great the actors really were. Instead the "actual" show wasted those four minutes wrapping up each epsiode with a montage to pop music.
And you don't introduce a love interest just to kill her in the next episode; build up the tension, dammit!
Man, I'll be honest, I despised this show in the beginning. I really hated it. It didn't feel like Stargate to me, and in my opinion was just essentially a dramatic soap opera in space. Then season 2, things got somewhat better. The theme still fit with the story, but the adventure aspects started coming in, which is what really defines Stargate to me. Then, right as this starts happening, they cancel the show. Right at the time where it had the most potential. So many shows end this way ...
@aerdenhout There are no plans to do that. A lot of the actors have spoken about it and said they would be happy and willing to do more and the producers and directors tried to get something happening but nothing has come of it and they have sold off the sets as well from what I understand.
Boot up Ginn, instant presto answer in 30 minutes, salvage the power from the other shuttle, then use the power cells in the EVO suits. Eli you sneaky bastard.

@Hwoarang8ify Because there was exactly the same number of stasis pods as there were crew, and 1 was malfunctioning, he had 3 weeks worth of supplies to fix it, if the others had stayed awake too he wouldn't have enough time to fix it, so he had to stay alone.
The ship recharges in stars, and the hostile drones in that galaxy had fortified all suns they could recharge at, so to jump directly to the next universe without recharging at a star they had to power down and use the pods.
Anyone else think mgm will bring back sgu back to our screens in 3 years, as if the people of destiny really did place themselves in stasis, and we wont hear from them until then?? also, anyone know the name of the piece that was playing in this clip??
This is a really beautiful ending for the Stargate series as a whole. When the camera moves back and the lights go out around the stargate... get's me everytime.
I really wonder what that last smile means on Eli's face...

@ComeToRejectCity Destiny's mission was to follow the seed ships as they set up gates in other galaxies but it's main mission was to find the creation of the universe, rush and everyone else on the destiny were frozen becuase it was going to take them 3 years to get to the next galaxy, they didnt have the supplies or power to do that so they froze themselves and Elli stayed behind becuase his freezer was broken and had a few weeks of supplies to fix it. He volunteered for it.
@nemzus Destiny's mission was to investigate a seemingly artificial structure the Ancients had found in the cosmic microwave background radiation. As far as we know, it had nothing to do with the creation of the universe. The background radiation didn't form until around 400,000 years after the Big Bang.
One of the most moving episodes of the entire franchise. :'( The best serie, the best scene ! Long live SGU and shame which has boycotted the series !
I only saw SGU on netflix, was deployed when it started airing, never got cable, and when I got to the end of it, that's when I found out it was cancelled. Show was awesome! To hell with SyFy!
@netptl39 The series just didn't develop enough, this last scene with Eli was something great but came all too late. This is a fantastic sendoff for SG as a whole and its best to leave it that way.
Bugger. Problem is the diehard fans want character development and Rodeenberries dream kept intack, all very well, but they are a small hard core of fans that in getting their way have driven the general viewer away. Action scifi has a good following as can be seen by the various movies. This season has been more action packed and less, can I say it, boring. But the potential viewers who came on board left long ago leaving the diehards. I hope general viewers can be lured back for a 3rd series

So much good scifi has been killed by SciFi. Caprica, this. Hearing that both shows were cancelled brought a tear to my eye. SG:U in particular had so much heart, and the 2nd half of Season 2 completely ramped things up. I couldn't believe how good it was. Died far too soon.
I loved SG1 and SGA. Was just starting to get into this one so it being cancelled is disappointing. I like the whole franchise so all these vs stuff means nothing to me.

This scene brought a few tears to my eyes. Not because its the end of SGU. But because when I saw this. I realized that it was the end of the amazing phenomenon that is Stargate. Something that has been the most influential thing on my life, for the majority of my life. Ever since I was 12 years old I've loved Stargate. The entire concept, the complex back story that slowly evolved. And even greater then that, one of the best stories telling of the human condition.

From what I've learned SGU was not cancelled due to ratings as it was only .01% under what was expected. MGM was in severe financial difficulies with a reported $3.5 billion in debts. Many projects had to be cancelled & TV projects were among the 1st to go as they brought in fewer returns in the short run than films. They wouldn't release the rights to another production company as that would have meant releasing the rights to the entire francise.

@steviedb7 I hadnt heard that reason. That makes alot of sense. I always thought that it was doing the best it could on SyFy as far as ratings. Cable channels always seem to get lower ratings on average then the Big Four in the US do.

This show was a tragedy; not because it was canceled, but because it was never as good as it could have been. I've watched the Kino episodes, they showed character development and personality quirks, they showed how great the actors really were. Instead the "actual" show wasted those four minutes wrapping up each epsiode with a montage to pop music.
And you don't introduce a love interest just to kill her in the next episode; build up the tension, dammit!
And Col. Young was a psychopath

Man, I'll be honest, I despised this show in the beginning. I really hated it. It didn't feel like Stargate to me, and in my opinion was just essentially a dramatic soap opera in space. Then season 2, things got somewhat better. The theme still fit with the story, but the adventure aspects started coming in, which is what really defines Stargate to me. Then, right as this starts happening, they cancel the show. Right at the time where it had the most potential. So many shows end this way ...

@aerdenhout There are no plans to do that. A lot of the actors have spoken about it and said they would be happy and willing to do more and the producers and directors tried to get something happening but nothing has come of it and they have sold off the sets as well from what I understand.

According to sifi sg-u is dead :( but I hope that the sg saga can continue. If it does I have a list of ideas on how to fin sgu 1) sgc detected explosion of destiny as it passes the horizon of a black hole 2) sgu ending movie where they end up in stasis for 100,000,000,000 years and wake up near the center if the universe and discover what the secret is

@Hwoarang8ify Because there was exactly the same number of stasis pods as there were crew, and 1 was malfunctioning, he had 3 weeks worth of supplies to fix it, if the others had stayed awake too he wouldn't have enough time to fix it, so he had to stay alone.
The ship recharges in stars, and the hostile drones in that galaxy had fortified all suns they could recharge at, so to jump directly to the next universe without recharging at a star they had to power down and use the pods.

This is a really beautiful ending for the Stargate series as a whole. When the camera moves back and the lights go out around the stargate... get's me everytime.

@ComeToRejectCity Destiny's mission was to follow the seed ships as they set up gates in other galaxies but it's main mission was to find the creation of the universe, rush and everyone else on the destiny were frozen becuase it was going to take them 3 years to get to the next galaxy, they didnt have the supplies or power to do that so they froze themselves and Elli stayed behind becuase his freezer was broken and had a few weeks of supplies to fix it. He volunteered for it.

@nemzus Destiny's mission was to investigate a seemingly artificial structure the Ancients had found in the cosmic microwave background radiation. As far as we know, it had nothing to do with the creation of the universe. The background radiation didn't form until around 400,000 years after the Big Bang.

I only saw SGU on netflix, was deployed when it started airing, never got cable, and when I got to the end of it, that's when I found out it was cancelled. Show was awesome! To hell with SyFy!

@netptl39 The series just didn't develop enough, this last scene with Eli was something great but came all too late. This is a fantastic sendoff for SG as a whole and its best to leave it that way.

Bugger. Problem is the diehard fans want character development and Rodeenberries dream kept intack, all very well, but they are a small hard core of fans that in getting their way have driven the general viewer away. Action scifi has a good following as can be seen by the various movies. This season has been more action packed and less, can I say it, boring. But the potential viewers who came on board left long ago leaving the diehards. I hope general viewers can be lured back for a 3rd series

So much good scifi has been killed by SciFi. Caprica, this. Hearing that both shows were cancelled brought a tear to my eye. SG:U in particular had so much heart, and the 2nd half of Season 2 completely ramped things up. I couldn't believe how good it was. Died far too soon.

They should go back in time and cancel SG1 and ATLANTES and give us two more series of SGU instead. What is wrong with people? the other shows were rubbish and nothing like the film, but t hey didn't cancel them? instead they cancel the only one worth watching!
