Mmm...this is a tough one. First, let me ask you - have you given everything you own away? Do you live in a house? Drive a car? Have more than 1 pair of clothing? Or am I misunderstanding what the Bible says? Jesus told the rich young man to sell everything he owned, but why? Was it bc God wants us to be poor in the world - or rich in Him? Is it possible to be both rich in God and have money without the love of money? I DO want to follow Christ with everything I am - please share your thoughts.
@one6point7billionth These are Jesus words: “Do not be afraid, little flock, for your Father has been pleased to give you the kingdom. Sell your possessions and give to the poor. Provide purses for yourselves that will not wear out, a treasure in heaven that will never fail, where no thief comes near and no moth destroys. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also." Luke 12:32-34
The only problem is that some have already given everything away and so have nothing left to give except the gift of the Spirit which the LORD has shared with them. As the Spirit is the TRUTH-1 John 5:6 the only gold such people have to give are the secret revelations from God which they possess. But such are branded wolves and what they have to offer is rejected. Those who should welcome such revelation think that just anyone can read the Bible and understand it but the Bible says they can't.
